Very Happy With the Alto PA Speaker

By Al D. from Camdenton, Missouri
Music Background: Play guitar mostly for my own enjoyment. Mostly just a strummer.

I haven't had a chance to use the Alto amp very much yet and I feel like I still have some things to learn about it, but so far I am very happy with it and I'm glad the guys at Sweetwater recommended it. I mostly play for my own enjoyment but at times have gotten together with others for jam sessions. I think this Alto amp is going to be perfect for those times when I play with others at the jam sessions. Thanks Sweetwater for a terrific recommendation!

Awesome! Absolutely mogs everywhere you put it.

This will fill anywhere you put it likely, I have one and it can decently fill a HS gym. Very loud, nice definition and bass. Bluetooth works good, battery life is great.

The Most Diverse Speaker I've Ever Had

By Steven M. from Mobile, AL
Music Background: LOTS

I have been in the world of audio for 30 years. I can say hands down this is the most diverse speaker ever. Originally, I wanted a Bose S1, but I didn't want to spend Bose money. Plus, the Busker is great also at the beach, and I don't get upset when sand gets on the grill, which comes right off (I live close to the beach).

Lets take a look at all the ways I have used this speaker:

1. Wedding Ceremony in a 1500-seat church: I was asked to run audio in a large church and didn't want to use the Church system, nor did I want to set up big PA speakers. I put this guy on a stand by the piano so it's not very noticeable, and it FILLED the church with sound. It was perfect.

2. Monitor- I have used this countless times as an audio monitor and it works perfect.

3. Traveling Bass Guitar Monitor: I play the Bass among other instruments. This is my go-to speaker when I'm traveling with my bass and don't want to take a "normal" bass amp/head. Granted, its not going to rumble, but for practicing, the tone is perfect. I love using this thing on the road to practice. And I don't even have to plug it into power! It's so versatile. Holds a charge for a very long time.

4. Practicing guitar or bass at home: I use several programs on my iPad when practicing. When I want to hear backtracks when I play, my iPad is Bluetoothed to the Busker. Couldn't be easier. The only downside to the speaker is that when you turn it on, it announces "Bluetooth Connected". If you have the gain turned up, it's a loud announcement. That's literally the only negative about this speaker, but it doesn't take away from 5 stars. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

5. Community Outreaches: Being that this guy is loud, has full sound, and uses battery power, this is now my go-top speaker when needed for doing various outdoor events when I need to play background music or speech.

I could go on and on about the Busker. My wife, knowing nothing about my world of audio, even loves this speaker and calls it The Busker as I do. I do crazy research before I buy anything. This is worth every dime. If I break it, I will buy another one without thinking twice.

ALTO BUSKER

By Dick M. from Inglis, FL
Music Background: Music teacher

It just arrived and I've just tried it out and I must say that this really took my breath away…..WOW……..
It has everything you can ask for, Chorus, Delay, Flange…….everything you need for a small solo gig, and the sound is just AWAZING!
I would recommend this to whoever looking for a great little PA system and you will not be disappointed!
And also my sell engineer Geoff Allen, out of 10 stars I will give him 20, and also the shipping time was over all expectations so what can I say!
Like in the movie " HIGHLANDER" " there can only be one" and in this case it is SWEETWATER!

Perfect for casual, outside gathering

By Ellen R. from Milwaukee Wisconsin
Music Background: You will find me dancing...

Since 2020, we have been dancing, moving, juggling, tossing balls and Frisbee, tree climbing and enjoying nature in Kern park, Milwaukee, weekly on Sundays. Our old sound system moved on and we tried a little JBL and then a paired couple of JBLs. It was crackling and dull sounding. Then, on the advice of an actual sound guy, I found this perfect speaker! Reasonably priced, sturdy, light enough to bring along. I attached it to a hand-truck/dollie on wheels, with a milk crate underneath, and pool noodles around the edges so it doesn't get too banged up. We trade it off to the volunteers who provide a different set list each week.
I am unable to review plugging in a speaker or microphone, it has not happened yet.
Blue tooth connects easily, as does the old fashioned cord plug-in. Phone can charge off it, slowly. Battery is long lasting.

Little work horse

By Brian R. from Linton, IN

I've had this Alto Busker for a little over a year. I bought it most to use at baseball games for walk up songs and backyard family get togethers. It has been a great little speaker. Now for the pros and cons.
Pros
-speaker cabinet is very clear and loud for a small 6.5 inch speaker
-the battery has a pretty long life before needing recharging
-very lightweight and easy to carry
-great for music playback
Cons
-when using the mic, it's considerably quiet
-I would like for it to have a little more low end
-when connecting to blue tooth, it say "Bluetooth connected". Not a fan of that.

Overall it's a great battery powered cabinet

Huge bang for the buck!

By Accordion E. from RIVERVIEW, FL

This Mini PA has everything you need for not only busking outdoors, but this is great for small venues and jam sessions. I was going to buy the Shereen version, but was not crazy about the grey color (It's the same thing, different color). This one blends into the stage or corner of the venue and does a great job projecting sound. It sounds louder that 200 watts. The Highs, lows, mids, are all excellent. The app provides a lot of different EQ settings also, so you are not just limited to the knobs on the unit itself.

I have owned the Roland battery powered keyboard amp, KC-220, but it was not powerful enough for anything more than solo practice.

I am now trying to get rid of my VOX 50 watt keyboard amp since this ALTO blows it away.

This has all the inputs a solo artist will need, Mic line in, Instrument line in, Bluetooth and 1/8" line in for your backing tracks. It even has a mix out to plug into the venue's sound system if they have one. You can park it on the floor or put it on a pole stand also, so many options for a small speaker.

Amazing little unit! Not sure yet because the snow is still flying, but I bought this for small family gatherings and possibly some busking and I think it will do just fine!

Great value - Pros / Cons vs Bose S1 (original)

By Jerry E. from Denver
Music Background: Gigging Guitarist, Singer and Beatboxer.

Pros:
- More focused sound, better for stage monitor and directional sound focus
- Excellent battery life (although did not do a direct A/B comparison
- Great app with detailed EQ control
- Bluetooth connection and link with 2 Buskers is great.
- Quite loud, but have not done an direct comparison with the Bose since I do not own and S1, just working from memory when I have used friends S1s.

Cons:
- Every time you turn it on it announces "Power On" then "Blue Tooth Connected if it is".
- The Microphone gain is a little weak, if you pluging in a Mic (SM 58 ref), and a guitar modeler pedal the guitar can get much louder than the pedal. I use a small mixing desk to fix this problem.
- The fidelity is slightly lower than the Bose, but the still sound great
- It is not room filling sound like the Bose, but this is also the first Pro. You can't have it all.

Overall I am quite happy with this purchase.

Alto Busker, they got it right

By Richard R. from CHELTENHAM, PA

I was looking for a second portable, battery powered 2 channel speaker and this one caught my eye. I already had a Bose S1 Pro that had served me well for about 4 years but the vocal channel is rather weak. I have to turn the volume almost all the way up while my guitar channel only has to be at about 2. For about 1/2 the price as the Bose I find the Alto Busker to be a great addition to my gear. It sounds great, it's definitely loud enough and it's actually a little smaller and lighter than the S1 Pro. It definitely has more features as well. The battery light inidicator is a huge plus. The Bose has a little more bottom end and might sound a tiny bit better overall but for my purposes (acoustic guitar and vocals) I really don't need a lot of bottom end so for that reason I actually prefer the Alto Busker. I just received mine in the mail a couple weeks ago and used this speaker alone for a solo gig. It sounded great and it was all I needed. If I were a dj I would probably consider the BOSE over the Alto but honestly I could have two Buskers for the price of one Bose S1 Pro.

Great little system

By Bill S.
Music Background: Traveling Musician

I play professionally all over the country. I have a JBL Mark II column system (1200 watts) for most gigs but wanted a small rig for small venues or for street busking. This fits bill perfectly for a solo act. One mic, one guitar and Bluetooth backing tracks all in a unit the size of a toaster! The sound and effects are great and the portability is fantastic. I set up and tear down in about five minutes using a headset mic and travel size guitar.

Just what I need

By DavidL from Texas

I just started playing at an Assisted Living facility. This Alto Busker is perfect. In fact the first time I used it the facility was powerless due to a storm earlier that morning, but I was able to use the Alto along with my wireless Headset Mic & wireless guitar system and the show was a hit. The sound is plenty for my needs so far. I only have to make 1 trip from my vehicle; busker, wireless headset mic & guitar wireless system in a bag in one hand and my guitar in the other. Couldn't be easier. Then simply plug wireless devices into the busker, turn it on and play.

Good Bluetooth Speaker / Underwhelming P.A.

By Tony M. from OLIVET, MI
Music Background: Amateur songwriter, guitarist, drummer, vocalist

When I play recorded music through this portable P.A., it's nice and loud. However, when I use a microphone, it's not very much louder than my actual voice. I also have trouble with the microphone preamp. It's very finicky, even when I try different quality cables. I have to mess with it to get it to register a signal. I can't recommend this if you want to use it with a microphone for a P.A.

Super Light and Great sounding Speaker

By David
Music Background: Professional musician

Have used this already a 3 gigs in a large room. Everyone could hear and I had plenty of power to spare! This unit allows me to make only one trip from the car. I highly recommend this speaker if you're doing plenty of gigs! Love the built in effects too. Battery will last 2-3
Performances before you need to recharge. 12 lbs, put it right in your suitcase if traveling.

PERFECT FOR MY USE!

By Larry B. from Tennessee
Music Background: Musician 60 years

Purchased it to raise vocals slightly above keyboard, bass and acoustic guitar at annual family Christmas party.
Dial in a little reverb, delay, etc. and you're good to go! Thanks to my sales engineer, Dennis Konicki, for advice in purchasing! Bluetooth eliminates being tied to power outlet.
