Works GREAT! Fast delivery
Effective solution
This is completely adjustable to the correct height for my SM57 for acoustic guitar. Securely attaches to vocal mic stand. It is a pleasure to play high-end guitars without the "piezo quack", although pick ups are better in settings that are very loud, or where you need more freedom to move around. In those situations I use K&K Pure Mini or Fishman Rare Earth Blend.
Protective padding bg in the clamp
Can't believe this does have scratch guard padding in the clamp.
Much better than a separate stand on the floor
Using this is much better than a stand on the floor. Much more secure and saves space. The only thing is the part that holds the mic is too short. I had to put an extender on it.
Great for VO usage!
As I'm now getting into promo work, I needed to be able to use either my Ethos or 415t at a moments notice. As manually changing out the mics every time I needed the other was getting a bit tiresome, I started looking for something that would easily allow me to run both simultaneously with each in their optimal position.
To say that this fits the bill is an understatement. :)
An Excellent Solution
I wanted to get my rack tom mics off the drums and I used this MSA8020 for one mic and the On-Stage TM01 mic clamp for the other. Both I attached to the mic stand I'm using for one of my overhead mics, so I have three mics using one mic stand. I also used the On-Stage MM01 ball joint adaptor on these to dial in the angle of the mics. The boom arm may be 19" but the reach is only about 16". But I was able to take a boom arm off an On-Stage mic stand I wasn't using and that gave me the reach I needed.
Does not swivle
Love the durability of this arm. However, once connected, there is not way to adjust the arm to swivel. As long as you set it in the place you need, this is a great product!
Upright piano
Space is limited in my home studio, so I find setting up a forest of traditional boom stands to be a real hassle. I've grown to love short stands and clamp on type stands for reducing clutter. One of these clamp stands now lives permanently attached to the moving handle on my studio upright piano. Perfect placement, done. One piece of gaffer tape to prevent the adjustment handle from rattling, and we are rolling!
Great product, great price.
Got this and the On-Stage 13" gooseneck to attach to the back of my 2 tier keyboard stand for an all-in one stand setup.
Clamp works great on both round and square posts up to 1" wide. Its holding up the gooseneck and microphone, no problem.
Nice mic clamp for creating a fast and cost effective mid-side rig.
Place your cardioid mic on this clamp-based stand, then position your figure 8 mic below it.
Works like a charm.
Great Item
I use these as drum over head mic stands. Just simply clip one to one of your cymbal stands on the right side, and another to the left of your kit. They go up just high enough to get the perfect sound!
Great Mic Stand Accessory
I use my main mic stand to mount my ipad at a little higher level than those with great/young eyesight. :) I attach the clamp on boom to the mic stand along with a MSA9030 Gooseneck. This allows me to angle the mic more precisely than other setups I've used. Now I have a nearly perfect setup for leading worship with guitar.
Simple solution to a big problem
Our acoustic trio normally plays unplugged into a single large diaphragm mic. We recently landed a gig in an acoustic nightmare restaurant and needed a solution to capture our sound, maintain our single mic close in style and avoid feedback. I clamped two of these to a boom mic stand. We were able to setup 3 SM58s with enough separation to capture great sound but close enough that we could still hear each other without need of stage monitors. We've nicknamed it Hydra and it is a good solution when we can't use our LDC.
Solid
I'm keeping it..
Pros: Solid/ Sturdy -- Simple/quick mounting to my music stand and doesn't move- Boom holds the heavy mic and cord in place-- looks nice - eliminates one extra B/S stand -
:
Con: For a saxophonist, the boom is short. It would be killer with about 6 more inches.(took off a star). PERFECT FOR ALL OF YOU GEETAR GUYS.
Handy
Allows you to blend your acoustic guitar with installed pickup for a fuller more natural sound. Attaching it to the mic stand eliminates the clutter of an additional stand. Works great!
Works with V Stand Second Tier!
Thanks to Phil Schwan for helping we with this purchase. This works perfect with my Ultimate Support V Stand and Second Tier Attachment. The boom arm attaches securely to the second tier arm and extends easily above my upper keyboard. No more mic stand to carry around!
Handy Boom
Great for acoustic situations and bluegrass type set ups.
Boom Arm; What a good idea!
Mounted on a vocal mic stand, this holds a mic in just the right place for guitar, mandolin, or banjo. Reduces stage clutter, and tripping hazards.
versatile, economical - perfect for stereo miking
