A Game Changer

By Sweetwater Customer from NC on February 28, 2024 Music Background: Professional singer/guitarist

I gig out regularly...my main guitar is a Taylor 310ce with a Fishman pre-fix and this is an "always on" pedal on my board. The improvement in tone is amazing and it couldn't be easier to operate.

Game changer pedal!

By Jay Riethman from New Bremen, OH on December 26, 2023 Music Background: Performing weekend musician

This pedal is a game changer! It brings back the acoustic tones that are typically lost when plugging in. It honestly makes your guitar sound so much better and like you updated to a more expensive guitar. I play on the weekends and have gotten so many compliments from sound guys on my acoustic tone and ask what I'm running before we even sound check. The Martin and Breedlove guitars helps, but this pedal makes it so easy to dial in your sound. Just set the knob around 2 o'clock and forget it, that easy. Adds a little compression in addition to the EQ, filters, etc as well. I highly recommend this if you want to sound better, quickly and easily! Well worth the price.

BodyRez

By James from Colorado on October 10, 2023 Music Background: Active

I wanted something small, sturdy, and simple as I travel for a weekly gig. This pedal is essentially an acoustic guitar specific compression pedal. I find the best setting is at noon and I keep it running the entire time I'm playing. I don't use the feedback suppression, I'm just prefer a sound hole cover. The muting is awesome if use clip on tuner.

PS I was able to order a used one from Sweetwater in September of 2023. I called up and was told they were on back order until January of 2024.

BODYREZ!!

By Kevin Casebeer from Oklahoma on June 23, 2023 Music Background: Music is life!!

I'm not sure why I waited so long to get the bodyrez! This thing ROCKS!! It makes the acoustic tone of my JP-15 even better. Do yourself a favor and buy one. You won't regret it!!

Pure magic.

By Sweetwater Customer from WI on May 22, 2023

Magic in a little pedal. Just fantastic. I watched one YouTube video and bought it and it is the real deal. Would buy again in a heartbeat. My lower end Martin GPC now sounds incredible plugged in. Just buy it.

Impressed

By Sweetwater Customer on April 9, 2023 Music Background: Worship Leader at Church

I play mostly acoustic at my church. Used this pedal for the first time, and I was quite blown away by the sound of my acoustic guitar. My Collings sounded exactly what it was meant to sound like. The woodiness, warmth, crisps highs were there. Lots of overtones, harmonics, whether I strum or fingerpick. It should to be very dry and thin. This is a great product for acoustic guitars. Worth the wait, worth the investment to get great sounding acoustic over a PA system. Perfect compliment for my K and K Trinity Pure pickup/Mic system on my Collings guitar.

For a very specific application

By Glade from Phoenix, AZ on June 14, 2022 Music Background: Pro

If I take my expensive Emerald X20, with its Baggs Anthem, and run it through this pedal, this pedal makes the guitar sound worse. But that's not what the pedal is for. If I run my Virtuo acoustic through it, though, with the terrible sounding Graphtec Ghost Piezo, THAT guitar suddenly sounds as good as the Anthem in the other guitar. If you have a cheaper guitar, or one with a flat-sounding piezo, this works some kind of magic and fixes it. I bought two, one for each pedalboard, because I literally won't play the Virtuo without it. Also adds a mute and an automatic notch filter to kill feedback, just icing. I wondered why I saw this on so many acoustic pedalboards, now I know.

Did exactly what I needed it to do

By Warren Henrickson from SPOKANE, WA on April 22, 2022

My Taylor 514 has always come through any sound system thin sounding. After trying various EQ's and direct boxes I could get a somewhat tolerable sound but needed something more to add much needed richness. This small little pedal, at reasonable cost, has answered the call. My 514 sounds awesome unamplified, just bummed the factory pickup system needs this much adjustment.

Performs as advertised

By DAN on March 18, 2022

I really like my Martin SC13e. However, as with most under-saddle pickups, there's a quack in the hi frequencies and a boom in the lows. The TC BODYREZ takes care of that altogether. I'm very pleased with the result. Simple, but very effective.
Also a shout out to David Hess for his fine service filling this order.

Bodyrez

By Sweetwater Customer on March 3, 2022

Fast delivery. Pedal performed as advertised. No one was aware I had a new pedal in my acoustic chain. Yet,a lot of comments were made, about how, my acoustic sounded, especially great!
I heard the excellent difference, as soon as I plugged it in! Boom.
A small, simple to use pedal, with a big result regarding a natural sounding acoustic, when plugged in.

Problem Solved

By Bill from North California on January 31, 2022 Music Background: Guitar, bass, banjo

I was in search of a much mellower tone from my Taylor 714ce when plugged in, but couldn't get that with the usual EQ adjustments on the guitar and acoustic amp. With this Bodyrez pedal, I now have that mellower tone. I am very pleased with the Bodyrez...it was well worth the price.

The pedal for people who hate acoustic guitar pedals

By Richard Saunders from New York City on December 9, 2021 Music Background: Singer-songwriter & music teacher

Often products that claim automatically to do the EQ/compression/gating work of a soundperson (I'm looking at you, tone button on the Mic Mechanic) end up creating as many problems as they solve. So when I was given a Bodyrez, I thought, "Nah, I've got a Taylor 814 that sounds great already; this Bodyrez is probably for cheaper acoustic guitars, to get them into Taylor territory." But I tried it, and I have to say, it's unbelievable. It actually does what it says -- makes your acoustic guitar sound all-around better with no fussiness. I have a minimal pedalboard: just a tuner, reverb, and delay, but now I keep the Bodyrez on at all times, with all acoustics. It worked great with my Ibanez 12-string as well. Just set it to noon and forget it. This is a magic unicorn!

Makes my Taylor guitars sound amazing!

By Ken Macy on August 31, 2021 Music Background: Professional Musician

I use Taylor acoustic guitars when I play live and this pedal makes my Taylor sound huge! I leave it on all the time and I just set it and forget it at noon. A must have for performing. I've also used it on my Guild and it sounds great too (I just turn the Body knob down). Get one and leave it on your Acoustic pedal board. I've had it since it's come out and I've played hundreds of shows without any issues.

So Easy. So Good!

By Ralph from Florida on August 8, 2021

This thing is the ultimate plug and play. I plugged it in, set it at 12 o'clock and turned it on. Acoustic guitar sounds noticeably better and more, well Acoustic! I have a Rainsong WS1000 and a Taylor T5z. Both sound better through the pedal and it really helps the Taylor have a convincing acoustic tone. Well worth the money.

What can you say, it sounds good

By David on April 14, 2021 Music Background: 25+ Years

I ran this pedal into my DAW and tried to observe what it does with spectrum analysis. The manual says it has some feedback suppression and a "fast" compression and then complex "filters" (meaning EQ). I figured I could at least duplicate the EQ response and I can come close, but no matter what I do I can't get my MXR 10 band or my Pod HD500 to reproduce the X factor that Bodyrez adds. I even analyzed the output with FFT spectrum analysis and am unable to match it exactly. The difference in my EQ matching and the Bodyrez is especially noticeable with chords which sounds much more natural with this enabled. It really does sound good.

I have the knob a little higher than 12 o'clock. I'm playing with an old Tayloer 210ce (year 2008) using the Expression system 1 pick-ups. I have a newer Taylor with ES-2 but it'll be in the shop until the end of May unfortunately. I may not use this pedal with that as it already sounds quite good. I suspect this pedal won't help it as much.

As for what EQ it does apply (besides the X factor I can't seem to duplicate) it's a low boost around 100 hz (tapering off around 250 hz), a high boost around 10k (boost tapering off around 4k) and a mid cut centered at 1k tapering off around 300 hz on the low end and 3k on the high end. The more you dial up the knob, the stronger the boosts and cuts. In theory you'd get a sound something like this by just boosting your high and low EQ (and cutting your mids a bit if you have mids knob) but it's just not the same. Definitely give this a try.

Yes You Need This...

By MJS from Lake Stevens, WA on April 10, 2021 Music Background: Casual multi-instrumentalist for church band.

If you play plugged in, love rich full bodied tone and adore simple controls. Once you turn it on it will be hard to ever play plugged in without it. Gorgeous sound. I play through a Fender Acoustic 100 and use the DI out from the amp to the PA. Sounds awesome and people comment on how good my very middle of the road guitar sounds.

Simply works.

By Mark F. from Alabama on February 13, 2021 Music Background: Intermediate acoustic player

Just makes my Taylor sound better plugged in. (Taylor 114e, Loudbox Mini.) Not an extreme difference, but it's real. It's like upgrading my pickup and amp. As advertised, gives a more authentic acoustic sound. In my little home studio, it sits right next to my Polytune. I basically turn it on every time I plug in, except on rare occasions where I want a more electric sound. I keep it set around 12 o'clock and let it do its thing.

awesome

By aric from Virginia on October 21, 2020

I've tried all sorts of di's, eq's, compression, etc to try to make the fishman blender in my taylor sound good through a rig and, while I can get it tolerable, it's always...kinda sucked. I'm not sure what exactly this thing does but turning the body to 12 o'clock is enough to turn the "suck" off in my tone. Every now and then I cut it off and listen back without it (through a para acoustic or sometimes a sansamp acoustic) and kind of shake my head at the difference. It feels a bit like cheating because I got a 31 band EQ to try to methodically "fix" my tone and haven't come close. I may just not have the ears for that. Thus, they built this pedal for me...one knob and button.

Game changer for this worship leader.

By Adrian Mathenia from Frankfort, KY on February 21, 2020 Music Background: Singer/songwriters and worship pastor for 10 years, guitarist for 20 years.

I play a Martin D18 with a LR Baggs M1 pickup. I've been fine with that combo for years, but realized I needed to do more in my end to help get a quality, consistent sound. I decided to try this first mostly because it was affordable. I'm blown away. Y the difference it has made! There's obviously some compression and EQ happening and it can be a little harsh cranked all the way, but I usually give it a generous helping and let it hang out at about 75%. My direct signal sounds full, polished, and more like a well mic'd signal. If you're the kind of audio guy who turns his nose up at one knob solutions and want to have more precise control, this probably isn't for you. But when I have a ton going on Sunday morning, I like that I can plug into a polytune and a BodyRez and sound significantly better without having to think about it. I've recommended this pedal to everyone.

It's like salt and pepper on your steak - seasons your sound just right. My (all) Taylors need this

By Paulie from SW USA on January 6, 2020 Music Background: Playing Guitar since the Apollo Moon Missions

This pedal isn't a game changer that will transform your quacky saddle-mounted piezo into this amazing acoustic sound to blow your socks off... it's going to smooth out the metallic midrange (as a slight cost) if you don't have a dual piezo/internal mic system in your acoustic. I have the huge 2015 Taylor 618e V2, and the Taylor Expression 2 system (3 internal piezos) which is, well, OK at best. I've tried all kinds of pedals with EQs and compressors, but ultimately I've just wanted to slightly smooth out the plugged-in Taylor sound. It needs a dip in the mids but it needs a little more than that. This BodyREZ mostly delivers that very thing, and to date it's the best slight improvement that I've tried in almost 5 years with this guitar. I go from Boss TU-3W to this BodyRez and out to the DI, with the BodyRez knob at about 11:oo position, just enough to add the icing to the cake. The COST I mentioned is a bass boost when you turn this pedal on. You hear it in all the demos. But a little more roll-off on the bass control on the Taylor takes care of that (this assumes your mixing desk has a 75hz High-Pass filter turned on, which any sound engineer worth their salt will do anyway).

So is it really worth 100 bucks just to tweak the tone?? YEP, 3 times over for me. TC came up with the right combination to help piezos actually survive plugged in. I spent 3 grand on the guitar (oh my goodness, NO regrets there), so a C note to improve the plugged in sound is totally worth it.

On acoustic electric bass, Simply THE BEST!!!

Not long ago, I replaced my aura Fishman, since I had no time to learn and mess with it, as a professional in the industry you need something ready to go, there's no time to full around, so I got ride of some very complex gear and when I saw this little, single and just to easy and good to be true pedal, as you can imagine I was mega skeptical, I went ahead and got it, and OOH!!!! wow!!! simply amazing!! I got one for my acoustic pedal board, but the real test was to tested with my upright/electric, and Beyond expectation!!! the tone really is like if you are in the studio!!!. The artists I play they ask me, what kind of gear I am using, they love it, The audience say that the sound on my upright/electric sounds like something they have never heard before, so warm, clear, articulate, and so much more. If you play any acoustic instrument, look no further, this little box will bring back the life our instruments have lost, for decades, you will no be sorry!

Excellent pedal!

It helps...

By Andrew Fountain from Blackshear, GA on June 19, 2019 Music Background: Worship Leader... playing for 20 years

I wouldn't call this a magic box that makes everything sound perfect, but it helps a good bit. I like my acoustic and it's pickup. With the right EQ and compression I can make it sound pretty good on its own. That said, with this, I don't have to work as hard at trying to communicate to my sound guys what I want. It takes out the quack and leaves a pleasant sound. I'm probably running it around 2:00 or so. I

I had the Original Aura system from Fishman for years, I never had the time to really get into it, nor wanted to. In this time as a professional there's no time to be programing and stuff, everything needs to be ready to go. When the time to replace my acoustic set up came, I was extremely hesitant about this little pedal, but when I connected, and play my guitar in a real situation, OMG!!!!! super!!! TC has killed it!!! perfect amount of everything, EQ, Compression, Just amazing!!! Now I am getting another one for my Acoustic bass!!!

AMAZING PEDAL

By Dick Mayborn from Inglis Fl on April 25, 2019 Music Background: Music teacher

This little pedal was exactly what I need on my acoustic pedalboard!
First I want to say that TC Electronic do have amazing pedals!
This little pedal tool my breath away when I tried it out.
There isn"t that many useful pedals out there for an acoustic pedalboard, but this is definitely one of them.
U bring your studio sound with you out at your gigs.
This pedal must be tried out, so, don"t ever hesitate to buy this pedal, BUY IT!
Thank you so much Geoff and Sweetwater.
YOU ARE THE BEST!

Keep it Simple, love it!

By Dan Morizzo from Manahawkin, NJ on January 12, 2019

I really like Taylor guitars but really have a hard time getting the sound i want out of the ES2...until now. The simple to use BodyRez one knob works like a charm. I"ve tried several other acoustic pedals that all worked to some degree but this one does it better and easier. Don"t expect a completely new sounding guitar just expect to hear more unplugged sound of the body and less of the thin sound of the pickup. The price point, sound, and ease of use make this a must have!

Exactly what I was looking for!

By victor Hudson from NC on December 2, 2018 Music Background: Weekend acoustic solo/duo for 25 yrs plus!

I was struggling to get a fuller sound from my Martin GPA AURA. I gig regularly with a BOSE L1 system. While I loved the PA as well as the guitar, I felt I needed a fatter sound with more low end.

I described my issues to my Sweetwater sales rep, and he recommended this effect to me. I must admit, I was skeptical; how could one pedal with one knob help me? How can you possible improve upon the sound of a Martin Guitar plugged into a Bose system?

All I can say is WOW!! This pedal is just what I was looking for; it gave me exactly what I needed without any bad "side effects".

While the original sound of my guitar is preserved, it really "filled the gap" where I needed it. Thanks to Anthony Jenkins at Sweetwater for your expertise!

Small Package - Large Capability

By Craig W. Ledford from Mooresboro, NC on July 7, 2018 Music Background: Praise and Worship Leader, Gospel Singer/Songwriter

I had the privilege and opportunity to attend gearfest 2018. One item that I wanted to purchase was a feedback eliminator/suppressor for my acoustic guitar. I had carefully researched the TC Electronic BodyRez before my trip to Sweetwater. I discovered that this unit advertised a special feature that could change my low end acoustic guitar feedback problems forever!

I use the TC Helicon Play Acoustic with built in BodyRez. Why would I want a stand alone unit? I did not purchase the BodyRez pedal for additional BodyRez effect. I purchased it for its ability to suppress feedback. The unit has two modes. The first being the well know setting where additional depth is acquired with the turn of a knob and foot switch. To switch to the second mode, unplug the power from the unit, hold down the foot switch button, and plug in the power to the unit. Now, the unit will seek out and suppress feedback. When you push the footswitch button, the light changes to green and the unit will seek out feedback. I have placed this unit in line first. It has another feature. It has the capability to be muted. Simply hold down the footswitch pedal until the light flashed rapidly. Depress the pedal again to unmute the unir. Great for tuning, etc.

In the supression mode, the unit will also provide Body Rez. Simply turn the knob! This is my new "go-to" pedal and will be first in line in my signal chain!

NO BRAINER

By Jeff from texas on June 20, 2018 Music Background: Pro

It's really a no brainer. This is the easiest effect I've ever used and it improves the sound of all my acoustics, Godin Nylon, Spectrum, Seagull Artist series. Haven't tried it with my Yamaha Classical but... get it, you won't be disappointed!

Bodyrez pedal

By Dan P. from Sterling, MA on February 6, 2018 Music Background: Long time finger style player

TC body Rez does what it says. Adds just the right amount of compression to even out the high end from my FISHMAN sonitone pick up. Well built solid construction and small. Fits in the guitar storage box. A must have pedal for your acoustic guitar rig

Amazing Tone Enhancer

By Scottocaster from Alexandria, VA on January 23, 2018

I bought the Bodyrez with the hope of making my NXT upright electric bass sound more like an acoustic. The NXT has a piezo pickup and although the BodyRez is designed for acoustic guitar I thought I"d give it a try.

I literally said "Wow" when I first heard my bass thru the BodyRez. It really does create the additional resonance and tone of an acoustic body. It is a subtle effect but extraordinarily effective.

Very cool.

BodyRez--does what it claims

By Steve on November 21, 2017 Music Background: 50+ years

I tried a very expensive Fishman modeler to try and get a more "real acoustic" sound with quality acoustic guitar using a piezo into a fishman amp and it didn't really work--but for less than a third the price this does exactly what I wanted--with my rig I needed to turn bass almost al the way down because when you get the "body" sound from this it was so rich I didn't need much (if any) bass--this is the closest I have ben able to get to a mic'ed sound without a mic. Took away almost all the "quackiness" of the piezo pickup.

Magic in a Box!

By Scott from Dayton / Cincinnati on August 17, 2017 Music Background: Lifelong player and performer

I recently purchased the TC Electronic BodyRez pedal. Completely blown away...I have been trying to get my electric acoustic (Takamine / Ibanez) to "sound like an acoustic" for years using various pedals, pre-amps etc., and this unit did what I've been looking for right out of the box! Guitar to BodyRez to Genz Benz acoustic amp...amazing. People immediately noticed and complimented my sound! Then I ran it DI through my Audient Interface into Studio One Pro and was blown away again! Absolutely noiseless, and no hassling with plug-ins to get my acoustic tracks to sound fantastic. Outstanding for the price. Try it...you'll love it! And as always, my extraordinary sales engineer Roq Martin at Sweetwater made it simple. Thanks Sweetwater!

Your Tone but Better

By Banjo Bones from Sacramento, CA on June 14, 2017 Music Background: Professional singer-songwriter

I am an anomaly as far as acoustic guitarists are concerned because I have a pedal board with seven pedals. I have to say that other than my DI box, if I was asked to play with just one pedal, it would be this one. Let's face it, an acoustic guitar sound great acoustically, especially if it's a good one. But as soon as you connect it to a PA or an amp, you lose some of the character of the guitar. This pedal, in my experience and opinion, just brought back that which the electronics had taken a way. I hate to use cliches, but it does sound warmer, fatter, and fuller with this pedal than without. I was truly amazed when I first plugged it in a year ago, and to this day I remain amazed at what this pedal can do. My advice is, first get yourself a good guitar. But once you have one, this is a really good next step to plugged-in acoustic bliss.

Amazing,simple little pedal!

By Michael Meilicke from Wonder Lake, IL. on May 23, 2017 Music Background: Musician/music producer/ music teacher

I find it very difficult to recreate an acoustic guitar when plugged in to a PA. This little magic pedal works wonders in helping any pickup system in an acoustic guitar sound better. I was actually amazed at how well it works. My only advice is to get one and see for yourself. Also for the price I don't think you can beat it. I'm glad I bought one, it will be at all my performances and is a great addition to my other pedals.

bodyRez

By Patrick from Poncha Springs, CO on January 27, 2017

One of the best I.ve tried of all TCElectronics pedals. Great for acoustic-electric guitars. The compression is superior. It works well not only on 6 string guitars, but on 12 strings and ukuleles as well. You can get intriguing tone settings on the last two as well. It is a "Must Use" for me now in all my playing. It even works on semi-hollowbody electrics!

Beautiful texture

By Jack Williams from WA on January 9, 2017

It does exactly what the name implies. It gives your acoustic and classical guitar body, warmth and depth. Subtle yet dynamic, listening through my headphones it was truly breath taking. Well worth the purchase to enhance the overall tone of your acoustic music. My friends were blown away by the difference.

My Epi Dove now sounds like a Gibson

By Ken O from Austin,Texas on January 6, 2017

I expected a bit of improvement but this pedal blew me away, including everyone else that gave it a whirl. There is no other pedal with one knob that creates this much magic for an acoustic electric. Live or in a recording situation, it is a game changer. I would bet $$$ that anyone that uses one on a regular basis would waste no time getting another one if it was lost/stolen/damaged. Replaces an EQ,harmonic exciter, and a compressor...my acoustic pedal board went from 4 pedals to 2. Thanks TC Electronics and Sweetwater, another super deal for a super happy customer!

Perfect for electrifies acoustics

By Mike McWilliams from Kentucky on October 4, 2016 Music Background: Experienced

This was money well spent. Basically it drops some of the mids and extends the bass and treble frequencies of the guitar to give a crisper, snappier sound with a bit of compression added. I'm using it with a deep bowl 1980s-era Ovation Balladeer in which used a rubber sound hole cover to stop feedback. The sound of this guitar (going through a Henriksen Bud amp) are nothing short of amazing and very hi-fidelity. As a bonus, it also sounds great with a jazz box although some reduction of bass on the amp is necessary.

IDK how this works but it is amazing!

By Mark B from Texas on September 7, 2016 Music Background: A long time at this - 35 years or so

I bought this off the positive reviews and it is probably the best hundy I have spent in a long time. It makes your guitar sound come alive. My rig is a Martin 000-28EC w Baggs iBeam into a Peterson Stomp Classic > Bodyrez > Fishman ToneDeq straight into the board at church, and even our sound guy couldn't screw this up! It just filled the room. Glorious! You won't believe your ears when you turn it on and off. I have no idea how this thing works, but who cares?

Amazing!

By Tom Harp from Indiana on July 30, 2016 Music Background: Long time guitar player, my instrument of choice. Also play the piano, banjo and harmonica. Played as a soloist, different bands genres, some recording, mostly a hobbiest now

This is a must for any acoustic player who plays through P.A. amp or any form a amplification. It brings the studio (almost) with you to the gig! Best acoustic pedal I've ever used. Way to go TC Electronic... you have a real winner here!

BodyRez Delivers Serious Tone

By Riff Beach from Pensacola, FL on June 10, 2016 Music Background: Singer-Songwriter, Aspiring Musician and Home Recorder

Another winner from TC ELEctronics and Sweetwater here!

Really, forget all the comments. Just get the pedal and try ti out yourself. Guarantee, you will be amazed at the simplicity and ease-of-use and just how dramatically ti improves the sound of almost any acoustic guitar through any amp or PA System. It just adds that extra sparkle and resonance. As with all pedals, the amount of effect can be dialed in based upon each user's preferences and it will also vary based upon the type of tone you want and the guitar's electronics and the type of amplification system you're using to achieve the sound you want. At the same time, I can't imagine how it won't improve almost any acoustic-electric tone. It doesn't take a 9V battery, but comes with a power supply. It does what it claims and it does it splendidly and simply, too. As with almost all TCH and TCE, this thing is super-solid construction. It is a small footprint and quite remarkable for such a small pedal. True Bypass is excellent, as well, when you don't want to use it, but have your guitar line plugged in. Quiet.....no hum nor hiss! Love, love, love it.

AMAZING LITTLE MAGIC PEDAL!!!

By Guy Steagall from Denver on May 25, 2016 Music Background: 40+ years and still gigging!

I wanted to wait until I used the BodyRez at a few gigs before reviewing... As pretty much everyone has already stated, this is a GREAT little pedal. After speaking with my long time Sweetwater sales representative Chris Mccown, I bought this sight unseen. This pedal does exactly what it says it will do; enhance the sound of your acoustic pickups and takes all the mid range "honk" away.

For me, it makes my set up and sound - extremely easy to quickly replicate at every gig. I've received many a comment already on my tone, and I have seen other players checking out my rig - to see what I am using. Well built, quiet, and I have always found TC stuff to be good.

Buy this, you won't regret it!

Great enhancement.

By Sweetwater Customer on May 10, 2016

All the reviews are correct. This is amazing. Please note the Tech Specs claim it comes with a power supply but mine did not. hmmm.

Simple yet powerful

By Ted Morris from Valparaiso, IN on May 1, 2016 Music Background: Pro-audio, guitar, vocals, Audio engineering and signal processing.

I've never been truly happy with any acoustic/electric system, even the high end ones. I have also shied away from pedals in general as I'm more of an acoustic player and preferred being able run my guitar though a DSP software without having a million different foot switches in front of me. I heard about this pedal and was intrigued by it's rather simple interface. Listening to the demo video, I was blown away by how real it sounded, and even skeptical, but decided to take the chance. The pedal came this morning and have been playing with it all day and the product pitch wasn't misleading at all! Practically all of the quack and harshness is gone, and whats left is a truly acoustic tone, not only that, but my acoustic tone, and not a synthetic one. In comparison to a good mic set up, the quality is about 80-90% in accuracy, but the ease of just plugging in and playing is worth it live. Plus for $100, you couldn't buy a nice enough microphone and preamp set up. Highly recommend!

This little guy really added warmth and fullness to the sound of my Taylor 814 without robbing the clarity of the high end. I play in a duo ( my acoustic and a bass player ) and people that had heard us before commented on the improvement in our sound.

perhaps the ultimate test of the Bodyrez

By David Fowler from Bloomfield on February 22, 2016

I think I have the test to end all tests. I was thrashing around on the Chinese "amazon" and saw some undersaddle acoustic guitar pickups, with the tuner added preamp... no name... for 9 bucks each. I bought two just to be sure one might work. I installed the first one in an Epiphone DR 100. And as you might guess it sounded pretty quacky.... but It didn't sound all that much worse than some other factory installed pickups I've heard.

I ran it through the bodyrez, and it sounded like a decent setup on a decent guitar. I know, I have 4 decent setups on decent guitars. This was just an experiment, but added kudos to what the 100 dollar bodyrez can do for a 9 dollar pickup on a 118 dollar guitar.

It makes my good guitars sound incredible, and a barely credible guitar sound good.

Get it

By Tim Knighton from Louisville, KY on February 10, 2016 Music Background: Worship Leader

Buy this, plug it in, turn the knob all the way to the right, now turn it on and play. Puts all the body lost back into the guitar signal when plugged direct into a system. How does it work? Sciencey stuff I don't understand but it does exactly what it says it will do.

Well Worth the Money

By Jeff from NW Indiana on January 11, 2016

Bought this to use in my home studio for when I record acoustic guitars. I could not believe the difference this pedal made. Ran my Martin to the Body Rez to my Roland AC 60 and was amazed. This pedal made a great sounding set up sound amazing. Simple to use but what a sound. I generally set up a mic aimed between the sound hole and the fret board to record the guitar in addition to a mic aimed about 2 feet from the Roland and when I mix I get good results. I can't wait to here how rich my recordings come out with the Body Rez.

BodyRez is Magic

By Sweetwater Customer on December 26, 2015

This pedal will bring the most out of your acoustic guitars. TC could charge twice as much for this thing...

In some cases I use non-piezo acoustic pickups, and the BodyRez work wonders on these as well.

I can also imagine using the BodyRez on a solid body electric guitar that is outfitted with piezos.

Little Body...Great Rez!

By JC Gonzales from NOLA on November 24, 2015 Music Background: Worship Leader since 1998

I got an old Ovation Celebrity Delux since 2003 in my church band, and the built-in 3 band eq is not working anymore. Started to find something that improve my guitar sound. I Iooked into the fishman aura and all its features...I asked my sales engineer about it, and this is what he recommended to me. Be aware that this is not a effect pedal it is a pick up enhancer. When I plugged in and turned it on...WOW! It was like day and night!...can't believe that a tiny simple pedal sound like that. My guitar now sounds like it has a great guitar amp and a expensive condenser mic...you will hear details you can't hear before. It has a clear but not thin sound...that is something that I was worried about.
I saved around $220 by buying this pedal. So you can't go wrong getting this pedal.

This pedal really works!

By Jim Powell from Boulder Creek, California on November 22, 2015

I play mostly acoustic guitar with a Celtic-style band, and I have always been frustrated at the sound of my Martin D16W through the PA. I've got a piezo saddle pickup, and even though I use a decent preamp, the sound is always thin and tinny. I saw a review of this pedal, and although I was a bit skeptical, I thought I'd give it a try. And, as the rating says, I was blown away by how much this pedal improves the sound of my guitar. This is a great option for an acoustic guitar player who can't justify or afford an expensive pickup/preamp system, but would like to improve the sound of their amplified acoustic guitar. My only very minor complaint is that you cannot use a battery with the pedal - you have to use a power supply.

Nice Pedal

By Rick from lorain, OH on November 20, 2015

Changed my tone for the better on my Martin. It warmed up the sound to a pleasing tonality through my P.A. I highly recommend this pedal for all acoustic players.

AMAZING!

By Lisa Barbee from Ojai, CA on November 17, 2015 Music Background: Singer/Songwriter/Guitar Player

Just got the BODYREZ a few weeks ago, and I am amazed at the difference it makes in the tone. I play a few different guitars, my main being a Gibson J-45, which sounds great played acoustically. I even have a great amp in the Fishman Loudbox Artist. But this pedal cuts out all the tinny thin sounding tone, and it sounds warm and brings out the sound as it is unplugged. I am very happy I made this purchase. And Jason Koons and Sweetwater are awesome as always.....and the candy is always a nice touch.

TC Electronic BodyRez Acoustic Pickup

By Lido Raposo from Rhode Island on November 10, 2015 Music Background: Music & Visual Artist

Don't you hate that feedback you hear coming from within your acoustic/electric guitar? Well, the BodyRez Pickup not only gets rid of that annoying occasional feedback you get, but it also makes your acoustic/electric guitar sound more acoustic. It provides more depth and definition all from a tiny box that takes up almost no real estate. A must have!

A must for Acoustic players

By Sweetwater Customer on November 9, 2015

My first gear review ever. I had to share what a great device this is. A Must for Acoustic players!
Simplicity is key to acoustic sound when plugging in. A good amp will have chorus, reverb, and delay. ALL you need for an acoustic, and just a pinch of effects at that. With everything on amp set right, plugging this gem in just makes the sound more round, balanced and WARM. Takes all the tin and thin out that even the best rig and pickups have and gives you a sound as if you're unplugged on the sofa. Just a little volume and BAM!
No amp needed. You can just run a line from the instrument to this BodyRez and straight to PA. Greatly improves the sound.

Blown away!

As soon as I turned it on I realized that it was the missing piece on my board! Now I can use my acoustic guitar with other pedals and sound amazing! Great for studio as well!

Great add on for Acoustic Electrics!

By A Coastal Gentleman from Covington LA on October 13, 2015 Music Background: 40 years guitar player--occasional gigging

Easy to use. One knob to give your guitar that real acoustic sound though your PA or even better sound through your acoustic guitar Amp! Actually bought 2 to have one at my office as well as at home.

Best pedal in my opinion for electric acoustic guitars!

Wow!

By MattMan from Waverly Hall GA on October 11, 2015 Music Background: Worship Leader

Will greatly improve your low end spectrum of your acoustic sound. Amazing sound difference! Finding it very hard to play without it now. I also use a La baggs Para DI on the front end and the 2 together is just sonic Bliss, add a tad of reverb and delay and your set. I sit down for hours now just playing because I am so inspired by the sound. Highly recommend this pedal! Buy this pedal!! you will be most pleased you did.

Just what I needed!

By Brandon on October 11, 2015 Music Background: Guitarist

This takes that paper thin electric/acoustic sound and adds the natural life back to it. I don't ever write reviews but I had to for this, it's just that amazing. TC Electronic pedals have never disappointed me.

Does what it says !

By domaor from Portage , IN on September 25, 2015 Music Background: Active musician

I've played on the Worship Team at church for the past ten years. And I've struggled for the past ten years to make my acoustics actually sound acoustic. A week ago my sales rep. Robby gave me a 'heads up' on this pedal. I watched the video & immediately called him back and bought one. This pedal does EXACTLY what it says it will do, it adds body !!
If you play an acoustic/elec. guitar, you know full well how brittle sounding and thin sounding piezo pickups are. Here is your solution ! This pedal fattens up your acoustic tone and makes what you fell in love with about you're acoustic even sweeter !!
If you play acoustic, live ,on stage, you need this pedal !!

The Bodyrez Really Works!

By L.T. from New Jersey on September 23, 2015 Music Background: Professional Musician

The Fedex man just delivered my Bodyrez. I plugged a Fender acoustic guitar into the Bodyrez and then ran that into a Fender Passport PA system. The Bodyrez takes away that biting treble sound and it fattens it up. You can easily hear the difference when the unit is off and when the unit is on. And, I love that there is only one knob to turn which save so much time. The price is great at $99.00 and Sweetwater got it here super fast! I've tried more expensive units and I struggled to find the right sound and then I struggled even more to hear any difference. The Bodyrez really works! It's a great product!

Just Buy It...................

By Paul L. from Englewood, CO on September 21, 2015 Music Background: Experienced Semi-Pro Player and Vocalist.

Since all I can really do is restate some what has already been posted in other reviews and the simplest way for me to endorse this little gem is to say, Just Buy It! The demos TC Electronic has produced are spot on as far as providing some audible insight into what this pedal can do but the effect live and in person is even more amazing. What am I using it with?

I've played Taylor acoustic/electrics for many years using both a Fishman Blender System with an internal body mic and the newer ES2 System. While both are a vast improvement over a single Piezo pickup neither can come close to matching the added resonance and detail this pedal will provide. Even through a relatively inexpensive acoustic amp the results were very pleasing. It sounds far more like a mic'd acoustic than an amplified one and it's far more convenient and less expensive than a top shelf condenser mic.

It's also easily combined with a preamp, booster pedal, or a graphic EQ for more tonal tweaking and for the price you really can't go wrong or afford not to use one. It's one pedal that will earn it's keep many times over. TC has also provided a USB interface to accommodate future updates in the firmware.

Simply a GREAT addition to your acoustic rig

By Steve from Austin, TX on September 19, 2015

I play a Taylor, and even the Expression System can use some help when you are in a live situation, playing through a PA. Many of the other "preamp" type options out there are great, but cost $200 - 300. This box warms up the sound, adds some compression, and just sounds fantastic!

Dead simple to use, as it has one adjustment knob. Footswitch turns the unit off/on, but with a hold can mute the signal for guitar changes. Also has the ability to switch the phase in order to get rid of low-end feedback in some situations.

Bottom line, the Body Rez is just another example of the innovative folks at TC Electronics. Love this pedal, and it has earned a spot on my pedalboard!

One Knob Is Enough

By Andrew Tucker from WATERFORD, MI on September 15, 2015 Music Background: Worship Director, home & studio recording/mix engineer, multi-musician, etc. etc.

First off, let me say, I love when something simple makes an indelible mark; in this case, when a processor with one knob just works. I am a worship leader and an electric guitarist at heart, but I play a Taylor 110ce weekly at my church's more laid back mid-week service. It's a great guitar, but the under-saddle pickup system is simply OK (as are most).

I bought this little pedal and the moment I plugged it in it was like a whole other world in regards to the direct guitar sound. Could the sonic changes be had with compressor and graphic EQ pedals? Certainly, and with greater fine control, but I can't come up with a sonic detail I would change after having run my acoustic guitar through this pedal that it doesn't already do with the turn of ONE KNOB and the footprint of half a regular stompbox.

Pick one up. I doubt you'll be disappointed. The only reason I could see for someone to dislike what this pedal does is if they're completely satisfied with the sound they're getting from their instrument or if they are a knob tweaker and want fine-grained control. Cheers!

Aptly named Great little pedal

By Philip Candella from Louisville KY on September 11, 2015 Music Background: Playing Covers in a electric & acoustic band

So I got my Body Rez from TC. Just to give you some context. I play covers Pop & Rock. I use a PRS P22 with Piezo pickups & regular pickups in it & an Ovation Celebrity. For one band I will use both pickups in the PRS sending the regular to my amp & the Piezo to the PA. For the songs I use it on It really fills things out & all of a sudden we have an extra player in the band. I also play in an acoustic group where I will use the P22 piezo for covers by Journey & the like as it is much easier playing a solo on that especially when you run out of frets on an acoustic. Though my sound coming from the PA is really thin I was never happy with it but it is what it is. Well this little baby really does the trick in taking that thin sound and giving it some Body & resonance. It is aptly named. When I roll the 1 knob on Body rez clockwise it is like dialing in More body and sound. Kind of like starting out with a plastic kids guitar, moving to a smaller body guitar then a full body guitar. It does that. It also has a great feature where you can mute the guitar. This way if I’m gigging & a conga line breaks out like they do if I’m tethered by my piezo cord I can easily unplug without the sound guy wanting to kill me. This thing is small it is just a little bigger than the power supply. So if you don’t have a lot of real estate at your feet this thing is great. Final word if you are not happy with your acoustic sound, feel it’s sounding thin coming out of PA speakers this little box will help it sound like an acoustic guitar sounds to your ears. Well worth $99.00.

Body Rez Mini Pedal

By Steve on September 5, 2015 Music Background: 50 years playing Guitar / Live Gigs

I tested this pedal with several different guitars and was impressed by some of the differences. The guitars used are as follows:
Guild F40CE / Under Saddle P/U
Gibson Hummingbird / Fishman Rare Earth Sound Hole P/U
Taylor 614ce / Taylor Expression System
Rickenbacker 650 D Electric / Rickenbacker Humbuckers

My pedal board consists of the following in order from guitar tp PA / AMP
Body Rez
Compressor
Power Boost
Delay
Reverb

The setting on the pedal was with the knob at 1:00.
I found that the effect was not as pronounced as I expected, which in my opinion is a good thing since I subscribe to the fact that "less is more". With the under the saddle pickup I found that the effect was the greatest and it completely removed the tinniness of the pick up completely which is the desired effect.
Used with the sound hole pick up the effect was there, but less pronounced. Again, a good thing.
Using the Taylor, the effect was as expected as the TC Demo was done using a Taylor. The reverse polarity setting on this pedal to eliminate low end feedback works perfectly. Now I no longer have that issue. The Mute to change instruments without the PA Pop is also a great feature which allows me to free up some real estate on my pedal board since I used an inline tuner only for this purpose. I personally prefer the clip-on tuners.
Now for the surprise....
I tested the Bpdy Rez with my Rickenbacker 650 C and found that in made the guitar sound more like an acoustic instrument which I found to be interesting.
Over all, this pedal works for me as it enhances the acoustic sound, and when needed eliminates the low end feedback as it is intended to do.

Good Tool

By David Murray from California on December 8, 2020

A very nice addition to any acoustic/electric player. The differences are subtle, but they are there and this little pedal takes the sharp metallic tone experienced from piezo pickups, the boominess and the feed back out. It is worth the money for any serious player.

Just what I needed!

By J. B. from Kentucky on July 2, 2019

I wanted a pedal that would take some of the harness out of my tone and this pedal does that. If your looking for a extreme change this is probably not the pedal for you. There's a lot going on in this little pedal not exactly sure what, but it works for me!

TC BodyRez

By Dave from Indiana on May 2, 2018 Music Background: 50 yrs. Hobby, Open Mic, Church

I just got my TC Electronics BodyRez pedal this afternoon, and it is exactly what I have been looking for, and what my acoustic sound and setup have been lacking. No more being unsure of my P.A. sound, now I can just play without having to worry about that. The BodyRez provides more natural depth to the sound. I was switching back and forth from the pedal and was amazed at the improvement in the sound. It doesn't just dress up the sound, it improves it. I plug into the Rez first and then into my Yamaha Magicstomp Acoustic pedal. The Magicstomp sound was among the best I'd heard but the BodyRez added what completed my search...

BodyRez Pedal

By Carl from Farmingdale on April 28, 2016 Music Background: Playing over 35 Years

The application in which I use this pedal is for worship. What this pedal does do, is give your more of an acoustic sound with more body and tone. It also clarifies your sound and brings life to the acoustic. The sound man at church marveled how much of an improvement my acoustic guitar sounded when using this pedal. Highly recommended! As always I receive great service from my sales rep AJ. Thank you AJ & Sweetwater!

By Sullivan Rosario from Archbold on September 26, 2020 Music Background: Started at age 12 with private lessons, giving regular every weekend for 25 years, writing original music and giving with Pure in Heart several years, now giving lessons and local small town gigs.

Well, after reading a review of this little wonder, and then getting a demo by a buddy of mine at a gig, I finally made the purchase. Did I say I bought two of them? Well I did. So I just used it last night at Revival Coffee company in Archbold for an outdoor event with two different setups. Set one was my acoustic guitar with the Body Rez and a direct box into Bose PA. Second set, Strat into pedal board with Egnator tweeker 30 watt. For the price, and for what it does sonically for the listener to hear in an instant, it is a no brainer for most anyone. I've been at this guitar thing for almost 50 years now and can say without a doubt you will love it. Buy one. Sweetwater and the knowledgeable team are off the charts in service. Don Carr and his review really sold me. Your the man Don, would like to jam with you next time I'm out there.

TC Electronics Body Rez

By Norris Sherrill from KY on May 28, 2019 Music Background: Professional Musician for longer than I care to think about!

The TC Electronics Body Rez does exactly what it is supposed to. Get rid of that midrange honk that all acoustic guitars have when plugged in. Nothing sounds like a mic on it but that mic won't give you the volume you need live either. This is the next best thing for your sound. Just dial in as little or much as you need. Simple! Get this for your acoustic!

Bodyrez

By Ron from La. on May 10, 2017

I give this pedal a good rating because this pedal makes it possible to dial in the sound you want on your acoustic guitar!

I like it!

By MLBob from SW Ohio on December 23, 2015

Wondered if this was just a gimmick, but definitely smoothes out the sound of an undersaddle piezo! Leaving it in the chain on my acoustic pedalboard.

Great with Fishman Powerbridge

By Sweetwater Customer on December 7, 2015

I've installed a Fishman Powerbridge several of my electrics. I split the electric and piezo sends, with the piezo going into a Radial Pre-Z preamp. The sound was passable. The BodyRez, while subtle, gives some "life" to the piezo tone. Very happy now.

Nice bit of magic

By Jeff Tveraas from Austin, TX on October 26, 2015 Music Background: Old F/T working pro

The BodyRez does one thing and it does it very well. My Taylor guitar with a Fishman bridge pickup has never sounded better when plugged in than it does thru this little pedal. It diminishes the usual piezo harshness to create a smoother, more realistic tone. I'm not sure of what all it's doing to the signal - I sense some EQ, some added resonance and a touch of compression but whatever the recipe I don't plug in without it anymore. I dial it in between 12 and 2 o'clock, any higher and the bass and treble emphasis gets to be a bit much for me however this could be a real boon for guitars with light bass response. Nice work TC.

works good

Worth it!

By Phil from OKC, OK on February 29, 2016 Music Background: Hobbyist

I like the EQ this pedal delivers. It's a one trick pony, but it's a cool trick. I have it in my effects loop and pretty much set it, and forget it. It's possible to use too much, so you have to be careful to not go overboard unless your guitar really needs that much. Mine didn't. I'm at about 10 to 11 o'clock. Switching is silent. I'm glad I bought it!

BodyRez

By Arthur from NJ on September 3, 2015 Music Background: 30yrs on guitar. 10yrs Live performance & Sound Eng.

This is my first impression after 3 hours of playing my Blackbird Super OM carbon fiber acoustic using BodyRez. My guitar is equipped with a Fishman Matrix Infinity under-saddle pickup/preamp system. Here's the signal chain: Guitar>BodyRez>D.I.>A&H Zed mixer>QSC K12 (K12 is set to flat/normal). I found that, with BodyRez set at noon, the treble response is overwhelming. When set to 3 O'clock or greater, and Bass frequencies are over-boosted. I kept the control set just past 12 O'clock. Here's how I used EQ. I cut treble at the mixer's channel to 9 O'clock. I also used the low cut filter on the mixer's channel and swept mids at 100Hz and dialed it down to near zero. I set my Fishman onboard preamp to a fairly flat EQ setting. (switch in up position and EQ set to midpoint). Next, I used the "Flip Polarity" feature on BodyRez by powering on while holding the switch down. For me, this was the more useful setting and this feature works as it should. Now the switch acts as an A/B control to compare polarity settings. With polarity flipped, the low frequencies are now under control.

I want to be clear, there will be a lot of folks who will be immediately impressed with BodyRez. The Ear Candy factor is very high and this pedal changes your sound in some positive ways. BodyRez seems to dip frequencies in the 450Hz to 1.5KHz region and this is pleasing to my ear. The subtle compression works like it should to control the unrefined attack of an under-saddle pickup. The mute/kill feature is very handy too. The bottom line is that I can achieve a better sound with BodyRez than without, but it requires some fairly extreme EQ settings at the mixer to get there. I think most people will really like this pedal, especially if their PA gear is marginal because the BodyRez pedal will sweeten acoustic instruments to a great degree.

Not the End of My Quest for tone

By David from SC on September 27, 2017

I use this on a Martin JCPA4R and a Yamaha A3R. This is not the end of my journey for great, live acoustic sound. It does make both guitars sound "better" in some ways but it is more of an illusion than reality.

What this thing does: First, it boost the volume a little bit then it scoops the mids and adds bass and a high end "shimmer". This in itself sounds pretty good but it is still not right. With only one control it is difficult without a lot of EQ to sound close natural. All the scooping and bass and treble boost are relative to the one knob position.

With the knob low there is very little of everything... with it high there is a lot of everything...and none of the settings are right. There is either too much bass and too much high or too little bass and too little high or too much scoop or not enough scoop. There is no just right. It needs at least a high and low EQ control to balance this thing. By the time you get the EQ set properly you have just about undone everything that this pedal does. I am keeping the pedal but I am not as satisfied as everyone else seems to be.

Not Impressed

By DaveL from Venice, FL on March 31, 2021 Music Background: Dabbler

Very little difference in tone or volume with this pedal. Used it with a Martin, a Taylor, a Yamaha & a Gibson (all higher end models).

boomy

By Sweetwater Customer on May 10, 2016

I didn't like it. I was hoping it would give my OM style acoustic-electric a more natural sound through the PA, but it did not seem to do more than just add bass to the tone.

Sending mine back. I tried to to be used with nylon strings on a LR Baggs Element, Fishman Presus, Fishman Infinity, RMC Pickups and found it to be actually worsening the tone of all the above pickups. I tried it from 20-100% and it did not get rid of quack or replace it musical sounds useful for playing live or I. The studio. I have had four others hear this product three of them guitarists and one a sound engineer all felt this was not a product worth keepin. if your a nylon string player look for somthing else. Maybe this works better for folks playing steal string.
