Strandberg Boden Standard NX 6 Electric Guitar - Natural Flame Maple Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Basswood Body, Maple Veneer, Maple Neck and Fingerboard, and 2 Humbucking Pickups - Natural Flame Maple

With their Boden Standard NX 6 electric guitar, Strandberg has set a new bar for pro-quality instruments at an economical price. Though sporting many of the primary components of Strandberg's high-level axes, the Boden Standard NX 6 features a solidbody construction and flame maple veneer, keeping things low in cost yet high on performance. The manufacturer's own OEM humbuckers give the Boden Standard NX 6 its wide-ranging tone, one that's equally fit for low-gain applications as well as fully saturated sonic decimation. Throw in a hard-working EGS Rev 7 fixed bridge along with stainless steel frets, and the Strandberg Boden Standard NX 6 earns its spot in any discerning guitarist's stable.

Better Than Expected

By David from CEDAR PARK, TX
Music Background: 40+ years

I bought this guitar sight unseen and without ever holding a Strandberg. But I did my research and discussed this with my sales engineer and his team (Ethan Kattau). Ethan answered all my questions fully and sent one my way. Wow. This is my new favorite electric. Believe the hype. This thing is so balanced and comfortable. I've never played a multi scale neck but wow, it feels so natural especially on the higher frets. I restrung it only because I like light strings and afterward this thing played like a dream. The action is perfect and it doesn't take much to press down the strings even on the low end.

Thanks to Ethan and Em for their help in helping me get connected with this wonderful guitar.

The best guitar I've ever held

By Zac from Seattle

Got my Strandy 8 months ago with no QC issues, incredible fit and finish, and the look and feel has me staring or picking it up multiple times a day. I can't believe how easy this guitar is to play and how gorgeous it is. Don't be turned off by this being their "budget" model. The only thing I'm iffy on is the sound of the bridge humbucker. I like the neck pup, and all the split coil sounds, but I might end up swapping out the bridge. That's a totally subjective opinion though and it might suit other players' styles perfectly.

It's ruined all other guitars for me. Once you go Strandberg you can't go back.

My Sweetwater rep, Ian, was awesome over the week or so we chatted about this guitar.

Pretty much perfect.

If you're like me, you read through a lot of forums when deciding to drop a considerable amount of cash on new gear. I was a little worried about the QC issues the new NX Strandbergs seem to be having, but knew that this was the guitar I wanted. So I bought from Sweetwater because I was sold by their thorough inspection and warranties. I could always get one of the b-stock/refurbs on Reverb for cheaper, but I wanted the peace of mind of getting a perfect guitar without any hassle. And that's what I got!

The guitar came perfectly set up without any cosmetic issues. It plays like a dream and looks absolutely killer (the flame on my top is superb). Very resonant even without the chambered body of the more expensive models. Switch and knobs feel very high quality and the tuning system is a revelation. Oh, and the neck heel is very comfortable, which was one of the main reasons I wanted a NX model. I don't need to mention the Endurneck. Best guitar I've ever owned.

The one downside, which is purely subjective and I had already expected, is that I'm not a big fan of the bridge pickup. The highs are a little bit harsh, and big metal chugs sound a little off. Splitting the coils sounds really good though! I knew going into this that I would want to replace it eventually, so not really a downside.

Don't sleep on Strandberg!
