WOW!!!

By jimmy walker from wilburton, OK on April 17, 2024

I am totally impressed with this amp. Frist a shout out to Caleb Lowrey for all his hard work and help. I have a few other amps; Marshall DSL40, boss katana 100, and a Peevey Valve King 112. I was looking for a classic Blues sound. This 15 watts amp has no problems standing right beside the other "bigger" amps I have. It truly matches the tone I had in my head. Also, it sounds awesome without any pedals. If you are looking for a great tube amp give this one a look over.

Fender Blues Jr IV

By Sweetwater Customer from CNY on April 11, 2024 Music Background: guitar, classical and blues.

I have had this long enough to decide that it's a keeper! My practice studio is quite small and for this reason I'm using it with the Positive Grid Spark LINK Guitar Wireless System to eliminate the tripping hazard of cords, at 85 I do not need to fall! The combination is excellent and the tonal variations that can be achieved with the Amp are outstanding. The guitar that I normally use with it is my Gibson (Custom Shop) ES-335 with a Pyramid Round Wound 8 - 38 string set and the sound this whole combination delivers is nothing short of Awesome! I don't go out and play gigs (I'm not that good") but this little amplifier would excel in a small venue.

This is the one!

By Richard from GA on March 7, 2024 Music Background: Just for fun player. Been playing ~25 years

Love this amp more and more each time I play it. Perfect tone, love it fir classic rock sounds and beautiful clean tones. I tried a big fuzz opamp with it but actually prefer the amps own sound without pedals. Classic looks too, very satisfied with this purchase!

Better than I ever imagined

I have spent the last 18 years on a very small solid-state amp. The Blues Jr is far beyond an upgrade. I have been elevated.

Big Sounds in Small Box

By John Phelan from Pennsylvania on January 2, 2024

This amp looks great and sounds spectacular. The tone is a shade darker than the regular Blues Junior IV, which in my lingo means its warmer and gnarly in a subtle yet positive attention-getting way. The tweaked preamp, along with the Red, White, and Blues Eminence speaker, gives this amp a sonic rock feel that takes pedals extremely well. It's loud for a 15-watt amp and also thankfully lightweight, no back-breaking lifting required. The tweed covering adds a sweet look to the righteous sound. Great amp for the price.

great amp

By Scott H from so-Cal on December 26, 2023 Music Background: playing electric guitar for 1 year

This is an awesome amp - the lows are thick with lots of "umpf", the middle really jumps out especially in fat mode and the high end is crystal clear with enough power to rattle the windows when my mom's not home...

As expected, totally awesome sounds. Much easier to move around than the dual 12" models. With the tweed, instant old time vibe,

A modern Fender

By Rev Doc Miller from Here on November 10, 2023 Music Background: Have loved music my whole life, played instruments since I was 5 and in bands when 12 (Beatles influence made everybody start a band) lol

I normaly don't respond to reviews, but I have heard so much back and forth about this amp, that I have to set the record straight. Of course,I can only speak from my point of view, but Fender has knocked it out of the park with this amp. They took a simple, classic and iconic piece of equipment and somehow made it better. The BJ has that traditional Fender sound with it's ability to handle pedals and added some nuances that gives it a subtle but distinct extension into the modern world. These additions allows the player to have more versatility in creating tones and sounds that although definitely Fenderesque, has more texture and edge (balls). It still is a Blues Junior with a touch of Mesa Boogie in it.The design elements are amazing and the construction is definitely solid,if money were no object I could not come close to designing a better amp. Thank you Fender and Sweetwater, I guess I'm in Love.

Awesome little amp

By RJ from Tennessee on October 19, 2023 Music Background: Just having FUN.

I was looking for an amp smaller than my Mesa Boogie head on 2 stacked single 12" cabinets. I tried a used Blues Jr with a different speaker in my local store and liked the sound. So - I put a couple different models in my Sweetwater wish list.
¿ WHAT ? Price Drop !! I'm good at math - I'll take mine now...
I am Very Happy with this amp. The Red, White and Blues speaker sounds Awesome and the lacquered tweed is just beautiful...
A big Thank You to my Sweetwater Rep Mike Wright for answering all my questions and for the follow up calls after I buy something.

I love this amp I love it I love it I love it. I don't have any awesome technical know-how or extensive pros and cons to share, it just sounds spectacular and I feel like a rock goddess when I play my strat now. There, that's it - be a rock goddess and get ye this amp!

Red, White & Blue

By Sweetwater Customer on July 6, 2023 Music Background: Worship musician

I've been playing this Tweed Fender Blues Junior lV about 4 years.
Enjoying the Red, White & Blue Eminence speaker!
The eq is very responsive. The spring reverb is classic Fender. I play blues, rock, jazz, worship & country genres. Blues Junior lV has a punchy mid and a creamy bass. The treble I keep at 4 because it cuts through the mix with no problem using Les Paul style or PRS standard 24. The volume is plenty for a small room or club gig. The junior takes pedals well. I haven't changed tubes and have always used a Brown Box from Sweetwater to regulate the power voltage to the amp. It may be why I haven't had any problems with overheating the tubes.
Not complaining on the mighty little amp!

Hope this input helps.

I sound like a rock goddess now...

By Deby G from Garner, NC on June 28, 2023 Music Background: waiting for my chance to play with Pearl Jam...

Okay, maybe my playing isn't rock goddess level, but this amp sounds great regardless. I am using this in my house, and yes, it is possible to play a tube amp with your husband at work in the next room and not disturb him. Of course, when he's off work I am now able to disturb him and the neighbors (yay! our neighbors are THE WORST). The difference in tone between the Blues Jr and my modeling amp is night and day. I was never able to dial in tone on the Boss Katana MKII that I had that sounded as rich and full as this.

(The strat I'm playing is a Fender 2018 American Elite with pure vintage '59 pickups. I actually plugged my Taylor 214CE plus into this amp and it sounded pretty sweet too!)

Sparkling

By Michael G Rhamey from Oregon on June 7, 2023 Music Background: 50 plus years

In my 50 plus years playing guitar I have owned many amps. Some cheap and a few high end ones. I have learned that almost all amps will sound decent with effects. I have also learned that a good amp makes your guitar sound good on the clean channel. A good clean sound is really hard to dial in on a cheap amp. This amp is so full and crystal clear. Every note sings and is distinct. I use it more than my Mesa Boogie or my Marshall. This amp is worth every penny and don't let the compact size fool you. It cranks.

Best tube amp for the price

By Clark from Clayton NC on May 19, 2023 Music Background: Experienced

Ok so I originally purchased a 57' custom champ which I really liked but I exchanged it for the sweetwater exclusive fender tweed blues jr. I wanted an amp that I could use in multiple applications like recording, small-medium gigs, and practice at home. I have neighbors and this amp can run really quiet if needed and can get loud enough to cut through a mix in a band setting. I wouldn't say it's the lightest amp but it's lighter than a lot of amps that are similar. Feels sturdy and the tweed looks excellent. Sounds great with pedals too.

Classic Fender tone at a livable volume

By Johnny B from Pennsylvania on May 16, 2023 Music Background: Semi-pro

Recognizing that everyone's needs are different, I have to say that for my purposes this amp is nothing less than perfect. The Red White & Blues speaker is clearly full-range, and the reverb is super sweet. The amp has a classic Fender "broken in" feeling about it, and the reverb is luscious. And you get extra points for the tweed. I plugged in my recently set up Ultra Strat and jammed for about an hour. The wattage is just right for my mostly-studio, sometimes-live applications.

Blues Jr. Amp

By Ronnie Kennedy from Dallas on April 11, 2023 Music Background: Novice

This amp is everything I had been looking to get. The style, size, sound, and tones. It's simple configuration and ease of using makes it the perfect amp for a novice. The tones, whether cranked or low, are the same. Packs quite a punch for 15 amps too! Hooked my pedal board up and they've never sounded as clean. I'm very pleased and would defiantly recommend.
Of course I have to give most of the credit to my engineer, Mitch Dazey, for his help! I called him daily for over a week going back and forth between this one and the ToneMaster. Without his explanations and understanding, I would still be on the fence. He helps me like this a lot. Thanks Mitch!

This little beast blew my mind!!

By BWall from Nashville, TN on April 2, 2023 Music Background: 35 years of recording and touring

While searching for another low powered amp for doing overdubs here in my home studio I found this amp. I had played through many blues junior's in the past. All versions. Even a standard version of the IV. Never really liked the sound I was getting. I decided to start looking again to add a different flavor to what I use most of the time. Vox AC10. Which is a fantastic little tube amp and I have never had any client say they didn't like the tones I was giving them. Anyway, I see this one on the Sweetwater site. When I saw they had the Eminence Red, White, and Blues speaker I thought I need to give this a shot. So I ordered it immediately. Plugged it in as soon as it arrived. I'm so glad I did. It had great tight low end and had that American sound I needed opposite of the British tones I have on the other side. This Blues Junior takes pedals beautifully. Looking forward to using this on many overdub sessions in the near future.

Love this amp!

By David Crandell from The Colony, TX on December 7, 2022

I knew this would be a sweet little amp. I've had the Pro, Jr. for about 12 years and absolutely love it. I wanted a little bigger speaker as well as 3 band EQ and master volume control. Other than that, the two are very much the same. This is a perfect pedal platform, breaks up nicely when driven and of course has that warm Fender tone.

Blues Driver

By Paul Pierce from CANTON, IL on November 22, 2022 Music Background: 30 years playing guitar

This is an awesome amplifier
Great clean and classic over driven amplifier
I add my Boss Blues Driver pedal as a boost and it sounds amazing! I own a Marshall DSL40CR and 20
This amplifier and my Dsl40 are all I need
Two great amplifier's. Sweet water as always is awesome. I owed a blues jr in 2010 and it doesn't compare to this one. If you're into metal the Fender probably not for you. Dsl40CR for me is the best of of all worlds.

Absolutely perfect

By Sweetwater Customer on August 1, 2022

If you are looking for "that" sound and need to play at small stage and home volumes, look no further. A great pedal platform, the Blues Jr. IV also sings with beautiful breakup with the volume up and the master low and will punch you in the chest with the master up.

The Eminence Red, White, and Blues speaker is a gem. The IV has important upgrades over the III, including a more usable reverb. If you are on the fence, don't overthink it - just get it! You won't regret it.

Wonderful Combo Amp

By Weston George from Southwest MO on June 14, 2022 Music Background: Hobbyist / church player.

After playing through a solid state combo for years, I started getting the itch for a tube amp. And after doing a bunch of reading and watching a ton of reviews, I settled on the Blues Jr. I had some concerns, as I had heard they can sound boxy, the reverb was a bit much, ice picky, fat switch was a waste, etc. But when I started reading about the Blues Jr IV, most people were saying that Fender had ironed out the issues... I would have to agree. From day one, this amp has been amazing. For a one channel amp, it has an amazing range of tones, and also takes pedals very well. I am currently running into it through an MXR Super Comp, and a Boss Blues Driver. I have no regrets with this purchase.

Worth the Wait!

By Jenny F from Kansas City, MO on April 19, 2022

This is a fantastic amp!
It took several months to arrive but was well worth the wait for this beautiful Sweetwater Lacquered Tweed Limited Edition.
My sales rep, Ben Elder, was great, as always, about keeping me informed about the ETA.
I love the The Eminence Red, White, and Blues speaker. In my experience, this version of the Blues Jr. IV isn't boxy sounding at all. With and without the Fat switch activated, I've been able to dial in several tones I love with both my Tele and my Strat. It also takes pedals really well when I want to add something extra.
So far, I've been 100% satisfied with this purchase

Great twist on a classic amp

By Tim from IL on April 16, 2022

The Blues Jr IV is a subtle update on the Jr line. This special run for Sweetwater offers some new tones due to those updates and the Eminence Red White and Blues speaker. Still learning it but very pleased so far. Sales Engineer Keith was awesome assisting with my order and kept me posted on its expected arrival. The tweed special run is great and compliments my NOS Jr perfectly.

By Richard medeiros from CA on February 23, 2022 Music Background: play a lot

like it a great deal. Have found it sounds bestbin the house with the fat switch off. With fat switch on it gives ice picking really bad. I keep it off forva balanced sound.

The little tube amp that could.

By Joseph from Illinois on January 29, 2022 Music Background: Tone chaser

I really enjoy the clarity and warmth this amp provides. It is as clear as it gets and will allow you to truly hear the clean potential of any electric guitar. It's fun to plug my acoustic into as well. I have not used effects yet just because of the range of tone that can be achieved simply through adjusting the knobs.

Everything it's cracked up to be.

By Cliff from Louisville, KY on January 18, 2022

Loud or soft, clean or dirty.... it's crystal clear. And any way you play it, it's a fantastic sounding amp. Especially when playing a Gibson thru it. (Sorry, Leo!) Love it.

Fantastic

By Sweetwater Customer from Ohio on September 11, 2021 Music Background: 30 years. Played clubs, bars, weddings and brothels.

Probably the best version of the Blues Junior ever made. The Sonic Blue with the Cannabis Rex speaker is great as well.

I'm using a Bonsai in the front of this and it growls. It can sound like a Marshall with volume up and master down.

It doesn't sound nasally or boxy like the BJIII. That amp sounded like it had a blanket over it and I could not dial it out. Not this version. It has clarity and sounds bigger. The reverb however has been toned down considerably. Not a deal breaker unless you're in a Dick Dale cover band. In which case you'd get reverb pedal.

In the 90's I used the MIA Jr when I was a working musician. This amp brings me full circle.

It's fantastic.

Amazing amp!

By Lyle Fish from SHARON, WI on July 23, 2021

I love this little wonder! I got it to replace a Hot Rod DeVille as my living room amp, and it's still too powerful for this little room. But with the master volume, I can tone it down. What a sweet amp! It sounds great, I can't believe it. If I need more reverb I have a pedal for that. And the Sweetwater exclusive tweed covering gives it massive mojo! I am a very happy guy!

Love, love, love this amp.....!

By Michael D. Scott from San Antonio on June 11, 2021 Music Background: Started playing again recently after many years away. Classic R&R....

I have been wanting this for a while now, and finally purchased it as a gift to myself for my 66th birthday. I could not be happier with this amplifier. The fact it's a 'Special Edition' from Sweetwater and that just makes it even more special. Beautiful clean sound as well as sweet crunch on the other side. Add a pedal are two and you are in the zone....! Don't let the 15watts keep you from getting the amp, this thing will move your walls.....!
Thanks to SWEETWATER not only for the great financing plans but also this 'Sweet Special Edition"...!
This "Fender Bules Jr IV-Sweetwar Special Edition" does not disappoint...!

Fender Blues Jr IV Amp Lacquered Tweed w/Red White and Blues speaker

By Joe Sizemore from Southern Indiana on June 9, 2021 Music Background: blues and rock n' roll mainly- played in a band in the late 70s

Great "old-school" sound, easy to carry around, simple to dial in, and looks really good. It's also got some design features that make it easy to use when the lighting is not good: chicken-head knobs are white and located on top, so they show up, and it's easy to see the positions. IMO the design is near perfect. The only two things I would change would be, 1. Put the controls toward the front instead of the back, so that if you use a tilt amp stand you could see them better, 2. Put the foot pedal jack in a place that would be easier to get to. I give it five stars, and am sorry I waited so long to get one.
Oh, and it works great with a tube screamer pedal when you want to get more dirt in the sound.

The Need For Tweed

By Sweetwater Customer on February 8, 2021

Blues Junior IV is a beautiful thing. I had a digital integrated circuit 15 watt amplifier for the house but was disappointed with the lack of diverse tones coming from my different guitars. Even the pedals seemed dull. I unpacked the Blues Junior and
plugged in my Strat. From the first note, I knew what had been missing. The unnique tones of my Strat, my Tele, and my Les Paul can all be heard, beautifully raw and full...I enjoy playing more now.

Excellent

By Neil from St. Louis, Missouri on January 29, 2021 Music Background: Basement jammer

I've owned three versions of the tweed Blues Jr. III over the years. I loved it. Solid performer, good tube tones. But the forums got in my head and made me think another amp would be better. So I've tried the Princeton, the Deluxe Reverb, the Champ, and various other clones. I came back to the Blues Jr. and bought this exclusive model from Sweetwater. Here's the deal. This is nearly the perfect amp for a home player, which I am. The master volume and Fat switch allow for fantastic crunchy tones at acceptable volume levels. But should I ever play with a group, the amp can get very loud as well. I'm enjoying the tone tweaks on the IV and the reverb is much improved as well. Don't let the amp snobs get in your head. This is an excellent amplifier.

I love it

By Eddie from CA on January 8, 2021

I've been waiting this amp for quite sometime but I couldn't decide between this and the vox ac15. After watching lots of videos I decided to go with the blues jr because I loves the smooth and creamy cleans. Fast forward I get the amp and I love it. It sounds so nice in person and I can't get enough of it. This is my first tube amp so coming from my boss katana 50 it's such a nice upgrade (still love my boss). But beware if you are buying this as a bedroom amp please know that this amp is extremely loud.

By Tim from NC on October 23, 2020

You can get lost in the nuances this little amp can deliver w/o any added effects.

Solid built (in Mexico). The lacquered tweed is always a nice touch.

The RWB speaker shines! It pumps the 15w with no problem, edging out where it should and not before. If you are considering a BJ4, it's well worth the money (IMO) to get the speaker upgrade.

Great improvements and excellent speaker for this amp

By CJB from MA on September 17, 2020

Over the years I've tried Blues Juniors and haven't connected with them. Usually I wanted more of a Fender tone with a little more low-mid and also more versatility out of the controls. I've owned a Pro Jr. (first version) and liked it, but it was a noisy amp. This version IV with the RW&B speaker sounds amazing. It has more fatness in the tone (if you want it) and has the ability to get a much wider range of tones. The low-end doesn't get flubby and the top-end is clear but not spiky. The reverb doesn't get in the way of your sound as much as older ones, either, it sounds more subtle at lower settings. This version IV isn't noisy like some earlier versions I've tried - much easier to record quiet parts with. Great clean tones and drive tones from single coils and humbuckers. Very flexible. The tweed looks great! Big thanks to salesperson, Tomir, who was very helpful and knowledgeable.

I wanted an amp that was a little more portable than my twin or my Blues delux. I was a little worried about the volume but the first night I played with it I lost any worries about having enough overhead. This thing will more than handle small to medium sized clubs. We only mic vocals the kick drum and some overheads. Everything else is stage volume and we have no soundman. I have no problems whatsoever with this amp and my back says thank you. I run a Boss Delay, chorus, Flanger, Phaser, and a texas overdrive and this amp is absolutely perfect for pedals. Very happy with this purchase. This thing has a wonderfull overdrive sound but at a volume than will p*** off the nieghbors. Thats why i'm happy it handles peddals.

i have lots of amps. this one is the mother to my telecaster. Brilliant, shimmering tones. Perfect pedal platform and the reverb is perfect. i play in a 4 piece classic rock band an this amp is more than loud enough for any of our bar gigs and then some. The boost switch doesnt seem to do much on my amp but i dont care. i have an overdrive pedal, distortion, phaser, delay, chorus, tremolo and thats all I need. Might add some compression to get that chicken picken sound when we do country stuff. very happy with this purchase. i also have a Fender mustang 200. The modeling is so far off from what they claim its hilarious. too techy for me. Keep it simple stupid. Tubes rule.

Best Blues Jr Yet!

By Steve Austin from Hollister, CA on March 24, 2020 Music Background: Off and on professional musician.

As the owner of a heavily modified BJ1 (BillM Mods) I can honestly say this is the best blues junior I've ever heard off the shelf. The combination of the IV's circuitry and the Eminence RWB speaker has put this amp right up there with their higher dollar amps. There is no apology necessary when you bring this amp out at gigs. It's got all the lows and highs you can get out of an amp this size. Very comparable to the blues Deluxe. This is every bit as good an amp as my BillM BJ and then some because this amp has better definition between the lows and highs. So far I see no reason to mod this amp in any way except maybe put on a set of tilt back legs. If you're looking for a practice amp or a gigging amp for bars and small outdoor events this is it. If you're miking it then the sky's the limit. At an easy to carry 32 lbs and a tweed cabinet you can't go wrong.

By Kelly Pidgeon from PA on February 27, 2020 Music Background: 40 years with guitars and basses

Don Carr's review of this little gem sold me. I was looking to downsize from my DeVille and this thing is amazing! I've played Blues Juniors before, but not this one! Great reverb unit that is a nice wash over the tone without changing it as you head to 12. You can get solid Vox-like chime and clean tones, but this new circuit has a really old-school Champ breakup when you lean on it a little at low gain. The overdrive even before the Fat switch is engaged is incredibly responsive and articulate. Punch the fat switch, that's the little push over the cliff! I use a Blues Breaker pedal in the front end for a different push on the 6L6 tubes and you have all you need. Sounds just like what you hear Don playing when you use a Strat. The Tele sounds just like it should, without that ice-pick high end. Very smooth and creamy chime. My PRS and ES-345 sound amazing through it as well. No mud at all! Thank you Sweetwater for a great offering! Aaron has been my go-to gear guy.

This was my first tube amp. I purchased without playing it first. I took a risk buying, and it paid off. I spent a considerable amount of time debating on whether to get the amp or not. If you want this amp, go ahead and buy it. The amp has amazing sound. The controls are very specific and give the user pinpoint control. The reverb is just so good. It's all just so good. I don't see how there is a better amp for the price point.

I've owned this amp a couple months. The amp sounds good and is much lighter than my hot rod deluxe, if I had to choose only one the deluxe would be gone. All my guitars sound good through this amp.i use a delay and compression pedal mostly and they work fine through the front of the amp. Wayne Davis @ Sweetwater helped me find the amp I was looking for. Thanks Wayne.

By Danno on November 15, 2019

This Blues Junior rocks! Don’t be fooled by the size. It can get loud. I mean really loud! The clean tones are sweet and the dirty depends on the attack. The EL84’s break up nicely. I’m still breaking in the Eminence Red, White, and Blues speaker so the sound is gonna get even better. I’ve played 3 or 4 different guitars through it and they all sound great. No pedals, just straight.
And as always, Sweetwater is the best and my sales rep Mike C. rocks too! Always helpful. Thank you!

This is my first tube amplifier, AND my first experience shopping with Sweetwater. First the amp was a "demo" model from Sweetwater, and had I not bought it knowing that, you could never tell. Their attention to detail during their inspection of returned equipment is amazing. Second, I believe within a few hours of making the purchase online my newly assigned sound/sales engineer called me to iron out all the little details before it shipped...that day! What top notch customer service!! As for the sound/tone, this gorgeous "little" amplifier deals it out in spades...it actually brought me to tears! I"ve never had the pleasure or privilege to get to play a tube amp before so it was quite an experience for me. The warm sound I"ve read about and heard is PHENOMENAL!!! I will freely admit the first few chords I swept out from the strings of my Epi Les Paul Pro Plus made my eyes well up with joy. (true story) Such beautiful tone!! For all y"all out there wondering if this series of amps pairs well with an instrument that has humbuckers, YES IT DOES!!! You certainly don"t get the classic "chime" like you would from single coils, but instead you get a smoother, deeper, & warmer sound. Also, this amp is LOUD!! LOUD like, "The wife will chase you outta the casa with a chancla mad at you LOUD!" (totally worth it) Bottom line, this is an amazing amplifier for its size, (it"s not large, but it"s not exactly smaller either). Also for someone who is getting serious about their playing, this would be a great amp to grow into. Thank you Fender, and thank you Sweetwater!!!

Fender Blues Junior IV - Love It!

By Bill McGoldrick from Boston, MA on August 12, 2019 Music Background: Professional, > 50 years

Yes I love this amp. I was getting so many calls to bring a smaller amp than my Mesa Boogie Triple Crown with my Fryette 2X12 Cabinet. Through the recommendation of my Sweetwater Sales Engineer I pulled the plug on this thing. All I use with it is a Boss ST-2 for Distortion and OD and I am good to go! I play professionally and have high standards and this thing fits the bill when I need a small one load in amp.

The perfect amp, pedals not required

By Greg Witt from Wilmette, IL on July 25, 2019 Music Background: Tele(caster)Vangelist

The Fender Blues Jr. IV really does have what it takes to make you mothball any other amps you may have.

Right out of the box, this thing sounds great - the Eminence RWB speaker was an excellent choice and it's only getting better the more I play and it the speaker continues to break-in. ....and Lacquered Tweed makes the amp sound better as well.

The amp can go from clean to growl just with a tap of the foot switch or altering your pick attack, depending upon your settings.

By adjusting the volume to about 8 and setting the Master volume to about 2-1/2, I feel I can achieve a nice overdrive that rivals any pedal and leaves the windows intact. Need a little more? Engage the Fat Switch. Running treble @ 8, bass @ 3, mid @ 6 and reverb @ 5.

The amp has a good spring reverb - if I need a little more, I use a Boss FRV-1 - but 95% of the time playing I use the reverb tank in the amp - it really is quite good.

Overall, I'm really happy with this amp and glad I bought it from Sweetwater - thanks to David Snyder for helping me with this purchase.

Middleweight Champ of the World

By Dan from Seattle on July 9, 2019

Pound for pound, this amp is the undefeated champion of the world. It's not fancy but it produces an amazing array of awesome sounds. Sparkling cleans and the amp breaks up beautifully at just the right level. The build quality is very high - the amp will deliver for many many years. Highly recommend.

Great Amp !

By John on June 7, 2019 Music Background: Recording Engineer/Musician

Having owned numerous, Fender, Vox, Marshall, Ampeg and Sunn amps over the years and still own
a lot of them. This Blues Jr. IV fills the bill for getting a variety of tones, from super clean with a strat
to a dirty crunch with a Les Paul. I would highly recommend this amp.

The Best Blues Jr Yet!

By John on May 31, 2019 Music Background: 49 Years Amateur Guitar

I've been playing for 49 years and I've gone through a lot of different gear. Guitars, pedals, amps, etc. and I've played a variety of music along the way. Currently I'm playing in a contemporary church band and on the side I enjoy playing ambient guitar music. I've got a couple Roland XL80's which are great solid state amps and sound nice in stereo but my heart has always been with tube amps. I dug out my two Fender Deluxe's which are 22 watts but for what I'm doing in church I only had the volume at 2 and those poor amps never got a chance to really breathe. So, I decided to find something even smaller which lead me to the Sweetwater website. I've tried a couple of the early Blues Jrs. in the past and just didn't care that much for them. I saw this "New" tweed model iv on the Sweetwater site and decided to give it another try. That was two weeks ago and after running it through clean settings, dirty settings and everything in between I ordered 2 more Tweed Blues Jrs. this week to use in my stereo setup. That's how impressed I am with this amp. I was surprised at how clean it could be and how easy it is to dial in a little dirt or a lot of crunch. The reverb is a little subdued but I have several reverb and delay pedals that I use for my ambient sounds. The Strymon Big Sky and El Capistan pedals REALLY sound awesome through these amps as do all the dirt pedals, OCD, DS-1, Klon, etc. The breakup of the amp by itself without any dirt pedals is really nice as well and easy to dial in. It works great with a Les Paul, tele, Gretsch Power Jet or strat and what I really like is that you can get nice tone at all volume levels from quiet to cranked. I really like the Eminence Red, White and Blues speaker. I think that is a huge plus for this amp. On top of all that its lightweight and a good looking amp. Well done Fender! Also, a big thank you to Sweetwater's Bart Good for lining me up with these amps and for all the great advice and service he's given me over the years. It's great to know that there are still knowledgeable and helpful people out there who really care about their customer's and who aren't just trying to make a sale. So thank you Bart and Sweetwater!

Went in to Buy a Guitar - Left With Both!

By Michael Yolch from Ft. Wayne, IN on May 30, 2019

I went into Sweetwater to buy one of my dream guitars...a Les Paul Standard Gold Top from the stunning 2019 Gibson lineup. With bigger guitar purchases, I take my primary amp ('68 Princeton Reverb) and my entire pedal board with me to really put it through its paces.

This amp was just sitting there minding its own business. Long story short, after plugging the Les Paul into this beast, I couldn't remove the bluesy "stank face" I was making for 30 minutes straight. This amp is incredible with or without pedals. It also sounds nothing like a '68 Princeton or '65 Deluxe Reverb...which makes it an excellent addition to any amp collection. When I brought it home, every electric I own sounded unbelievable through this amp, including of course, an American Pro Tele.

Some people mention that it has only a little reverb. I would say it has more than enough for any regular player; and you can always use a reverb pedal if that's still not enough.

Thank you Sweetwater...for offering up an incredible exclusive Blues Junior, with a perfectly paired Eminence speaker, that easily handles any boost or OD I can throw at it at any volume. I'm beyond thrilled with this amp!

Great little amp

By AR from New Orleans on May 29, 2019

This is a really amazing amp. It took me a while on the first day I got it to figure out the Master Volume and Preamp Volume settings to my liking, and how to adjust my guitar volume depending on what I was playing. I love how the amp is really responsive to your picking, with different depth to the tones generated by how forceful you pluck the strings. It seems to take pedals fairly well with a little tweeking of the pedal settings, but it really doesn"t need any pedals at all. You can dial up a nice warm growl with this amp, and she can get really loud.

Fender Blues Jr. IV Tweed

By Bako from Mn on May 22, 2019 Music Background: Professional my whole life!

This amp has the look of a classic amp
and the sound of the original classic amps
even better.
I really am proud to own this amp
It will be with me till I am gone!

Love this Amp

By Doug from Tennessee on May 9, 2019 Music Background: 52 Year Amateur Player

Blues Junior IV with Eminence Red, White and Blues speaker is the amp I've needed for a long time. It can be as clean as can be or have just the right amount of distortion dialed in. Combined with my Fender American Original 50's strat, I couldn't ask for a better tone. It's plenty loud too. Nice reverb and carrying it upstairs is no problem. All that, and the Sweetwater folks got it to me in two days. Nice!!!

Huge improvement

By Telepathetic from Ohio on May 1, 2019 Music Background: Playing music since the 80’s.

I have owned all versions of the Blues Junior and I was not happy with the last version III. It sounded like there was a blanket over the amp. I sold it soon after acquiring it. The IV was announced and I decided to take a chance with it. This special tweed version has the Eminence Red White and Blues speaker. It has great clarity, punch and growl. I used an Earthquaker Speaker Cranker pedal and it just sings. I can get great drive sounds with my Angry Charlie. There are some things I do not like however. They said they tamed the reverb and boy did they ever, max reverb setting on this amp is the last versions lowest setting. I occasionally like to Max the reverb for that wet cave sound and the reverb on the IV did not take me there. But, luckily it takes pedals like a champ. Also, I did not like my tubescreamer through this amp. It really pinched the tone and made it nasally. Tip: buy a nice reverb pedal and a klon or bluesbreaker type drive pedal with this amp! But all in all this is a huge improvement over the boxy sound of the version III. Do some research and find the speaker/version you like. The Eminence Red, White and Blues has that crisp bite that I like.

Best Amp For The Price

By Lukas M on April 29, 2019

Wow, this amp really surprised me, went over to a guitar store to test this thing out. It was the only amp that I really liked, the amp has a very warm tone and it"s completely great with pedals. I love this amp and the fat switch is really good too! It"s the kind of amp where you want to definitely have some distortion or other pedals with it, but for a nice clean warm sound with a little overdrive from the fat button it"s really a perfect amp for a understandable price.

It's all THAT

By Mike from LIttleton, CO on April 22, 2019

This is my second one. I regret having sold my first one! Don't let the 15-watts fool you... It'll get loud quickly!!!

With bell-like clarity, this upgraded Jensen speaker produces authentic Fender tones in a relatively small, light-weight combo amp.

This thing has ALL of the real spring reverb you'll ever need. Though the dial goes to 12, you'll probably never need to go past 5.

It's very solidly constructed too and I love the leather handle! Nice touch.

Little power house

This thing is a beast! They tamed the reverb maybe just a little too much but still a great amp.

Great Amp

By Buzz from Tennessee on April 15, 2019

Wow, I've been looking for the perfect small lightweight combo Tube amp and man does this Blues Jr. IV fit the bill. I've been playing 40 plus years I like the duane allman dickie betts warren haynes tones. This is the first amp that I have ever liked the fat (boost) switch, the fat switch on this amp is incredible I can now have a great clean hit the fat button for a really nice clean boost then if needed I can hit my OCD pedal for extra grit however this amp could be used with No pedals at all I can't wait for the speaker to get really nice and broken in but right out of the box this little amp is sweet.
Fender has hit a home run on this Amp. If you are a little older like myself you will love the 31 pounds of this amp. I was seriously considering getting a milkman the amp pedal amp but am so glad I made the decision to purchase the blues jr and maintain all tube greatness. Highly recommend this amp for anyone of any age especailly if your looking for a Great Tube Combo amp under 700 bucks Thanks Sweetwater ya'll are king of customer service

Crazy value

By Robert from Navada on March 25, 2019 Music Background: Gigging guitarist

I wanted the lacquered tweed, but I couldn"t find version IV. Finally Sweetwater had it. It sounds lamazing all by itself, but run a drive pedal into it and holy mother of God, it"s an absolute tone beast. It"s only going to get better as the speaker breaks in. Once I plug in my Strat it"s hard to stop playing this thing. Money well spent. Andrew hooked me up with a great deal, and these guys will deal.

DOESN'T NEED PEDALS

By matthew tucker on March 23, 2019 Music Background: have played guitar for 11 years as a worship leader

let me start by saying i am no expert whatsoever, but i am a tone snob, and when something sounds bad i have to fix it, i bought this because i wanted a good pedal platform at home, so i could really get MY sound, after messing around with all sorts of overdrive pedals through a very clean setting and finding my OCD working very well i discovered that with no OD pedals this thing rips, every youtube demo i found was clean with pedals, so i discovered myself that this amp has probably the most underrated OD tone ever, cranked gain with the fat switch sounds just like the OCD in front, absolutely blown away by this amp and as always i love the sweetwater customer service, do yourself the favor of buying this amp if you like a bluesy/classic rock gain, incredible value

Awesomeness

By Bruce from Northern Indiana on March 19, 2019 Music Background: Been playing guitar for over 40 years

WOW... I was blown away with this little amp... I was looking for a smaller light weight amp from my go to Hot Rod Deville 2/12 and I didn"t want to leave my tube sound for something other than another tube amp. So after playing some solid state amps, I didn"t feel like I was getting the tone I wanted. I decided to pull the trigger on this Hot Rod Blues Jr in Tweed and I couldn"t be more happy. Not only is this a great practice amp but also an amp to gig with. It has all the punch you need for small gigs and mic"ed its all you need. It also takes pedals great even though I"m only a tube screamer/wha wha pedal guy. I"m only after that great blues sound with a little breakup and this amp does it soooo well. The new Eminence speaker is so perfect and the updated spring reverb is spot on. Don"t hesitate getting this great amp and as always, my go to guy at Sweetwater set me up well... Thank you Sweetwater for your great customer service.

Excellent Sound

By Jeff from Virginia on February 16, 2021

After lots of research I landed on the Blues Jr. IV and I'm glad I did. It has plenty of power but is still portable and the sound is amazing.

Would have been 5 stars without this issue

By Ryne Johnson from North Carolina on February 16, 2023 Music Background: Gigging Musician, Singer Songwriter

The amp is wonderful, beautiful sound that can achieve almost any tone you want, wonderful pedal platform, and dynamic eq. My ONLY issue with this amp is the tube rattle, particularly when you play lower notes like D on the low E string, in my particular case the whole amp will shake and rattle. Other than that, fantastic amp, plays comfortably with a band, can get very loud if you so choose, great at achieving Jerry Garcia, Hendrix, Gilmour, Mayer, SRV, and Clapton tones

nice amp, but ice picking issues

By Richard Medeiros from CA on November 12, 2021 Music Background: Play often, never listen to the radio while driving.

Owned this amp for 6 months. Waited to do a review to get something acurate and to let the excitement of a new purchase to become reality and be able to give a better eval. Happy with the amp, however the RWB speaker gives ice picking issues. I ordered a C REX speaker to replace the RWB. I find the C REX give a fuller clearer sound minus the ice picking. Have talked to others about the RWB speaker and sure enouph this ice picking thing a known issue. Most change it out. So be aware of this speaker.

Great Amp

By Don Whitesel from Lancaster, PA on October 23, 2021

I was pretty excited to see this amp and play it. The speaker upgrade Eminence Red, White, and Blue is great! This is the first major purchase I made online so I'll definitely have to see how it goes. Normally I would give this amp five stars plus but, the shipping is a whole other story.

Sounds nice but?

By Craig from New Jersey on November 10, 2023 Music Background: Full time musician

Sounds nice, I'm a fan of the fender tone but it's limited amp over all, still made of the cheapest parts fender can find accept the speaker, for this much cash they could at least make the cabinet our of pine instead of partial board.

Sound great but, absolute garbage

By Russ P on November 9, 2019

1st one caught fire. Sweetwater replaced (they were great to deal with). Replacement, keeps losing power. Only 3rd time using the replacement and..... out, power gone, all done. Come on Fender!! Between 2 amps not 4 hours of play and BOTH are toast????

Geez! I will buy something else. Cant believe it......
