I love this bass. Opens all new possibilities.

I'm extremely happy with this bass. It feels like a guitar and is full of tonal options. You can get solid bass guitar low frequencies. The higher strings and bass cut switch let you get into territory between bass and guitar. It opens up new melodic ideas. Guitar is build very well and sounds great. Incredibly inspiring instrument!

Bass VI Inspires!

This Bass VI is really, really nice! I've previously owned two other MIJ Bass VI 90's reissues which were really nice and have always missed having one. I had been investigating the Squire Classic Vibe Bass VI's and was about to get one when I heard about the Vintera II models coming out. Glad I waited! This Vintera Bass VI plays great right out of the box (Thanks to Sweetwater's 55 point inspection and set up) The build quality is great, it has a beautiful finish and the pickups sound awesome. My favorite thing about it is how inspiring it is to play and the sonic bliss. It brings me much joy! Big, big thanks to my always wonderful and helpful Sweetwater Sales Engineer Chris Kress!

Make my day

Overall I am very satisfied with the Vintera Bass Vi. I would have preferred a 9.5 radius. The fiesta red is straight out of the sixties. I have ordered a Staytrem bridge as the low E doesn't always want to stay centered on the barrel. A bit pricey but comparable to vintage custom shop instruments from early 2000's. Overall a fine instrument.

Not perfect but I do love it.

I play in a trio that does kindof Dinosaur Jr-esque material and I was playing a lot of power chords on bass and stuff. When I discovered the Bass VI it seemed like a lifesaver and something I should probably have in my collection... and I was right, in many ways it is my dream instrument.

My words of warning for potential buyers:
* I completely hate the bridge. I'm having to adjust it really often, sometimes even mid-set. I ordered a Staytrem bridge to replace it with and I am super excited to have it, this would have been a 5 star review if not for the bridge.
* Also, this isn't a problem for me really since i don't play fingerstyle but if you do... you might hate this instrument. The strings are so close together, it will be a real problem if you're a person that isn't comfortable switching between guitar and bass already.
*The instrument is not really a guitar and not really a bass, it is it's own thing and for this reason I could see many people disliking this instrument.
* The strings fender ships this with are too light and rattle as a result and are round wound which i can't imagine wanting for this instrument personally. The difference in playing it with the labella VI flat wounds was HUGE. You should probably order different strings when you order the guitar.
* Neck arrived insanely dry. I didn't think this should be an issue but it was. I needed to oil it. I ordered a MIJ Precision 6 months ago without the same problem from fender, maybe it's a difference from it coming from a dryer climate (these are made in Mexico). I hesitate to even mention this honestly because it's not a huge deal to do during setup but it was *so* dry and I was surprised.

*I* personally love it. If you want to get heavy you can get super heavy. If you want to get melodic and clean it does that well, too. I feel like i can get a much broader range of sounds out of this than my other two bass guitars (a hofner violin bass and a MIJ Precision bass). It's hard to imagine me putting this one down to grab the others for a recording as of right now but also I am willing to concede I've only had it a month or so. It is a really fun instrument for writing and recording or for playing live.
