Schecter Banshee Mach-6 FR-S Electric Guitar - Fallout Burst Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Swamp Ash Body, Maple Top, Maple/Purpleheart Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, 1 Humbucking Pickup, and 1 Sustainiac System - FalloutBurst

The Schecter Banshee Mach-6 is the result of player feedback and Schecter's continual quest for improvement. This solidbody electric guitar features a maple/purpleheart neck-through construction, compound-radius fingerboard, and an attractive maple cap. This version of the Banshee Mach-6 was built to be the most versatile in the entire lineup. It's loaded with a pair of humbucking pickups. The Sustainiac in the neck holds notes as long as you want while the roaring Lundgren M6 bridge pickup pumps out chunky tones. For your dive-bombing pleasure, this axe has been outfitted with a Floyd Rose 1500 locking tremolo bridge that ensures you're always in tune. For those who demand the most from their guitars, the Schecter Banshee Mach-6 is the only way to go.

Outstanding Guitar

By Randy from Southern California
Music Background: Badly playing guitar since 1990

My wife bought this from Sweetwater for me as a gift. It is an absolutely amazing guitar. I can't believe you get this much guitar for a relatively affordable price. It rips hard! It punches way above its weight and is just packed with nice features. The build quality is outstanding. The stainless frets are great. The Sustainiac works awesome. The Lundgren will change your life if you're a high gain player. A couple of people had a negative experience with the Sustainiac on here, but don't let that deter you. I don't think they fully understand what a sustainer is or how it works. Although you can use it as a regular pickup, that's not really what it's for and I feel like you're setting yourself up for failure and going to have a bad time. I would definitely recommend the Banshee Mach 6 FR-S.

Banshee Mach 6FRS

By Mike B. from Western NY

The guitar is great. It's the sustainiac pickup that isn't. It just makes noise, horrible noise. I've watched sustainiac videos on YouTube and there's nothing they do that a regular pickup can't, except howl like a pack of wolves. Wolves who are tone deaf. One guy even showed how you will need to learn to play with your fingers flat so you can stop the strings from howling. I read the other guy's review where he blasted the sustainiac and I thought he just didn't do his research, that there's tons of players who love these pickups, but watch all the videos, nobody can do anything cool with them. Plus, with mine, you can barely hear the g string when using the sustainiac, but switch to the other pickup and it's fine, so mine has more problems than just being a horrible pickup, it's defective. I'll bet $20 that in 5 years not a single new guitar will have sustainiac. Okay, I'm done getting this frustration off my chest. Thank you. P.S. Sweetwater had nothing to do with my bad pickup experience, they were great. I never tried to return the guitar or work with their tech people, but I did make a video of the muted g string and send it to them....attached below.

Banshee Mach-6. Outstanding.

By villson q. from ellenton, FL

Where to start. this guitar is loaded with features. The playability is phenomenal. The neck is so comfortable to play. I love the Lundgern pickups. A long with the the Sustaniac. You get jumbo stainless steel frets not only smooth playing but all so will last you life time. Fit and finish top notch. I had other Shecters before and this one is by far my favorite. It's well worth the price for what you get. I like to give a 5 star my sales engineer Jacob Shutzman for superb service.

Banshee Mach 6FR S

By Mike B. from Fairport NY

I recently bought a Banshee Mach 6 FRS from Sweetwater and I couldn't be happier. I was a bit scared of buying a guitar without trying it first, but sweetwater answered all my questions. I was especially concerned about the thin neck everyone is talking about online. I don't see why everyone is saying it's so thin, It's not noticably thinner than any other guitar I've played, I mean we're talking about 0.125" thinner than my Fender Tele neck at the first fret. That's literally 17 human hairs thinner according to Google's human hair thickness specs. Plus, it looks SICK with the 5 piece neck, neck through construction, Roman numeral inlays, etc. Schecter is so good that even though you can barely see it, there's binding around the body, neck and headstock. One thing I never thought of is the stainless steel frets. Bending is so different on this guitar, it's effortless to bend because the frets are so smooth. Schecter quality and value are why I chose Schecter and the Lundgren and Sustainiac pickups with Floyd are why I chose this model.

Outstanding Axe!!

By Michael from Orange County
Music Background: Hobbyist

I'm simply amazed by the amount of specs you get for your money on this loaded axe. The neck and the fretboard are very comfortable. I'm loving the lundgren pick up and it sounds MASSIVE. Looks amazing in person. My 2nd Schecter guitar, no issues.

This axe is stacked with specs. The Lundgren is very articulate with plenty of power. Completely satisfied with the Banshee Mach FR S!

Schecter Banshee Mach-6 FR-S

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Recording/gigging musician

Dear Reader,

Many Indonesian and Korean made Schecter guitars are well-designed and made and with impressive specs (high quality pickups and hardware, stainless steel frets, very comfortable-playing necks with easy access to higher frets, etc.). Unlike numerous other manufacturers, who sell their 'modern guitars' at prices that make even the rich scramble for coupon codes, the Indonesian and Korean made Schecters guitars are sold at fair prices.

I own 3 Schecters – see the attached picture – and all of them are currently available through Sweetwater. I bought one of them – the Korean-made Evil Twin, S/N W18100417 – directly from Sweetwater about 2 years ago (my Sweetwater review of this guitar is dated February 16, 2019). All of my Schecters are super-great guitars! Perhaps I should mention that in terms of 'value for money,' the two Sun Valley Super Shredders (the Indonesian-made blue one, S/N IW17091962, with the Sustainiac function and the Korean-made green one, S/N W17100542 – see the attached picture) may be clear winners.

Most unfortunately, two brand new Schecter Banshee Mach-6 FR-S guitars that Sweetwater sent me were lemons and their neck pickups produced only uncontrollable and very obnoxious squeals at higher gains. I tried 3 different amps with the first Schecter Banshee (S/N W20092330) and four different amps (Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister Deluxe 40, ENGL Fireball 100, PRS Archon 50 and VX100 The Super Kraken) with the second one (S/N W20092326) with exactly the same result, i.e., the neck pickup in both guitars being UNPLAYABLE at higher gains.

This is in sharp contrast to the neck pickups in my 3 pictured Schecters, which are 'very quiet' at higher gains. The measured DC resistance of the 2 Sustainiac-type neck pickups (present in 2 of my 3 Schecters) is slightly over 20 kΩ, whereas the measured DC resistance of the 2 uncontrollably and obnoxiously squealing Banshee's neck pickups was well over 300 kΩ.

I hope that this serious neck-pickup problem won't be present in your Schecter Banshee Mach-6 FR-S, should you choose to buy it; in the absence of this neck pickup problem, the Schecter Banshee Mach-6 FR-S guitar is likely to serve as a great versatile instrument for playing many different types of music.

Happy New Year!

Schecter Banshee Mach-6 FR-S

By Matthew C. from Austin Texas
Music Background: TrasH RocK KinG

I had always overlooked Schecter, for many years. Late last year I got a Schecter Hellraiser C-1 FR-S in the "Deals" section really cheap due to wood exposure to dings. It was my intention to rip the Sustainiac and cannibalize the Floyd to put on another guitar I had sitting around.

The Schecter Hellraiser C-1 FR-S arrived and I plugged it in and ws frankly stunned. Aside from the Abolone from hell binding and fret inlays the guitar was just too sweet to mess with.
It took me over a year to find the ding since it was on the Abalone.

Since getting that first Schecter I've added several more of the line in my stable.
They are that good.

I've been a sustainer guy since 1988 when I bought my first Kramer Sustainer.

A Little thing to note about the sustainer systems - Unplug your instrument cable from the guitar or they will drain the battery.

Now on to the Schecter Banshee Mach-6 FR-S

This was another score of mine on the Deals section of Sweetwater (My 4th Schecter in the last year)

I was not disappointed, after a string change & setup this guitar sings!
The Lundgren pickups are all that & then some. Capable of searing leads & crunchy rhythm, they also shine for cleans. I absolutely love them for what I play.
The guitar itself is gorgeous as all hello..

I plan on adding a few more, my Fenders & Gibsons are getting dusty..
