Taylor Baby Taylor BT1 Walnut Acoustic Guitar - Natural Sitka Spruce Reviews

6-string Acoustic Guitar with Spruce Top, Walnut Back and Sides, Maple Neck, and Ebony Fingerboard - Natural

The Baby Taylor is a 3/4-size dreadnought from one of America's favorite acoustic guitar builders. The smaller body size is incredibly comfortable and helps to eliminate unwanted boomy tones. Made with a solid spruce top and layered walnut back and sides, this guitar creates a sweet tone with great note definition. The sleek neck is comfortable in your hand and has a glassy-smooth fingerboard. Whether you're a seasoned road dog looking for a new companion or a new player who needs something extremely comfortable, you'll love Taylor's Baby Taylor!

I really enjoy finger picking this guitar.
And strumming it without a pick is awesome too.
Very satisfied with my purchase.

Silly people

It's a $ Taylor. I bought a Big Baby and went back to my Baby. I love it's brightness, it's portability, and relatively loud sound. If you don't want screws, lower volume, etc, just buy something else. This is a gem, not a failure. It's my favorite of six guitars.

Great travel and all around guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on December 14, 2022 Music Background: Been playing guitar over fifty years

Seems to me that the bad reviews are from folks who expect way too much from this great little guitar. A Baby Taylor is not a full size guitar. It doesn't have a big boomy sound. It is what it is and no other guitar company comes close for the money. Solid Sitka spruce top, ebony saddle and feet board are what Taylor puts in the best instruments. It's easy to play and love. I've taken mine on vacations and mission trips, and it's a great instrument for my granddaughter to learn on. If you understand what you're buying, I think you'll be very pleased.

Screws bother you? Really?!

By jason from Orlando on September 26, 2023 Music Background: 30 years. Mostly guitar

I can't believe people are complaining about the screws Oo what an odd thing to worry about, it's been common practice to use screws through the fretboard then hide them with fret markers, it's makes no difference at all in the playability of the instrument, which should be why you're buying a Taylor in the first place. This durable, great sounding entry level/travel instrument. If they reengineered the guitar, and hid the screws, that would add cost. It's not new, they've been like this for a very long time, and I for one, have never had a single issue with it, and love the sound of every Taylor I've played including the Baby!

Sweet Guitar

Loved this guitar. I have the Big Baby and you can definitely tell the difference with projection compared to this one. The Simple slick look and size make it so easy to grab and take anywhere though which to me is the alternative. Definitely would consider trying out a new pair of strings before finalizing your thoughts on this guitar. I used Earthwood silk and steel 10-50 on the guitar and what a world of a difference. Don't believe me just try. So much more richer with vibration and bass kicking in as well.

Screws?

By Darwin Sayo from Cynthiana, KY on September 17, 2022 Music Background: Brass enthusiast.

I was really excited for this Baby Taylor. Awesome size for travel and out of the box it was beautiful and sounded great. My only issue is to its' aesthetics. There are two screws at the bottom part of the fretboard. I feel like they could have hid them better. Or make them flat head screws so they don't look like "screws". It bugs me all the time.

As advertised, great small guitar.

Not much to get excited about

By David Tupper from ENFIELD, NH on April 28, 2022

It's an inexpensive Taylor , not much more than that. It makes a great campfire guitar. I've even played it while out on my canoe… and if I loose my paddle then I have a backup.

sounds great but needs a redesign

By Chris from Maryland on January 12, 2021

The baby Taylor is a great sounding guitar. At a 3/4 scale its great for small hands or a take along with you almost anywhere. The issue with this guitar is that there is no kerfing along the sides against the top of the guitar. The lack of kerfing translates to lack of glue surface for the top and this model of guitar has a bad reputation of the top coming unglued from the guitar. Even under perfect storage and care conditions this can still happen. There is not enough purchase on the glued surfaces to keep the top on this guitar. I would avoid this guitar until they address this issue. I don't feel this guitar or the big baby. is up to the quality standards that Taylor has for all its other lines of guitars.

Tired of retuning.

By Sweetwater Customer on December 23, 2022

It's made very light so that it vibrates and creates a big sound for the size. However, that means it continually goes out of tune. I spent half the time tuning and half the time playing out of tune.

Don't Waste Your Money

By Aerobatx from Arizona on January 24, 2023

Very disappointed with this guitar. Don't let the name fool you; it's garbage. I own a full-size Taylor that I love, but this sound nothing like it. It sounds like a toy instrument, and the action is hardly adjustable (it's so high, that playing anything above the 9th fret puts it VERY sharp). Save your money, and buy a REAL Taylor.
