Washburn Bella tono allure

By Armand R. from El Paso Texas
Music Background: Recreational

Put together well however the strings are too tight and close to each other and action too high. Needs to be setup lowering the saddle and a new nut to space the strings. It's a small sized guitar. Not a good choice for large hands.

My first higher priced guitar

By Mark M. from Manhattan
Music Background: Just for fun

I am a part time guitar player. Nothing fancy, just enjoy strumming some songs. I've been thinking of upgrading my Alvarez for a while and fell in love with the Washburn Allure when I first saw it. I did spend the extra money to have the Plec done to the guitar. It was worth every penny I spent! The guitar is better looking in person and I swear that it can practically play itself. I've never played an expensive guitar so I can't compare to that but I am in Love with this Washburn and the service I received from Sweetwater!

A lot of tone for a non-dreadnought steel string

By ayuttaya a. from Diamond Bar, CA
Music Background: when not working, am a composer of electronic lofi jazz, with the guitar telling the story...

I love this guitar--and the beveled lower bout should be standard on all acoustics, especially if they're large. The sound is wonderful and, truth be told, I bought it for the 12th fret inlay of a palm tree on a beach. I plan to retire soon and intend to get a home by the sea, and I will play this guitar the first night I move in!

Extremely impressed

By Tim

The overall build quality of this guitar is amazing. The neck is satin and so smooth. Tuners are very solid and feel really good quality. This is a guitar that will stay in the collection indefinitely.

Lifetime Keeper For Me

By Glenn K. from Port Charlotte, FL

I just came back from spending over an hour at GC (music store). Nothing I played there could rival this guitar at any price. Couldn't beat the sound nor the looks of this. Get the Gator Cases GL-APX APX-Style Guitar Lightweight Case for this. It's a perfect fit and you'll want to take care of this guitar.

It's Beautiful

By Bob H. from Vancouver, Washington
Music Background: Musician/Singer bands and solo

I bought this guitar from a Sweetwater ad because it was so beautiful and inexpensive! I have 2 other Washburn's that I love. I told my wife that it's pretty, but if it didn't sound good I'd send it back, so she let me buy it!LOL!!!
Well it arrived and not only was it beautiful, it sounded and played incredibly!!!
It's become one of my favorites and I play it out often and always gets positive comments.
If you're looking for a comfortable, easy playing, great sounding, beautiful instrument that definitely won't break the bank, you can't go wrong with this guitar!!!

Omg....wow!! I highly recommend this guitar

By AC from Pac NW
Music Background: Musician/performer, producer

I am so absolutely happy with my purchase, I can hardly believe it. I've picked up quite a few guitars in 34 of years playing so I've seen a lot of frets, necks, overall quality, etc. This little box is incredible for $669. I wanna handle it with gloves. The craftsmanship is stunning. Quite literally, there's not a single flaw that I can find. But it gets way better...

It's quite a light acoustic. One reason being is its not coated in a heavy finish. The solid top and the rounded edge come together perfectly and you didn't know you need one of those rounded edges until you try it - they're nice and you don't even notice it, for good reason. The tuners are very good. Well above average. The nut is just right. The action is perfect. Fret quality and finish seems perfect. It still gets better.

How it plays and sounds is just ridiculous. It resonates loud, crisp, clear, and true with it's solid top. It's a joy to play so far because the intonation up the neck seems very accurate. It doesn't vibrate in the way that a slightly out of intonation guitar can do, the notes are clear and intonated up the neck. I'm very picky and particular about intonation and this passes all expectation - sounds downright perfect. It's makin' me write those whole review, haha.

The electronics are great. I'm picky about onboard acoustic-pickup systems. I'm very happy with this system. Great onboard tuner which is always good. I'm running it through a Helix LT and it sounds very, very good.

It just surpasses all my expectations for $ and I really felt it deserved a glowing review. My first review on a guitar purchase from Sweetwater after many, actually. If you're on the fence about this one, I say go for it :)

Bought 'Cause It's Pretty

By Bob H. from Vancouver, WA

Beautiful guitar. I have 2 other Washburns that have been my go to instruments for some time.
When it arrived, I couldn't believe how comfortable it was to play and the big sound that smaller body could produce.
Amps great with great tone.
Washburn has another winner!!!

Awesome !!!

By John M. from Corpus Christi Texas
Music Background: Self taught

This is an awesome guitar. It plays great
With the set up done by sweetwater. It is very comfortable to play because of the shaped area that fits into your underarm. Very loud volume unplugged. I'm playing it through a fender blues jr amplifier. The acacia wood on the back and sides give it a heavenly sound combined with the spruce top. The mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard. Ebony bridge on the C shape neck. The bridge and nut are bone add to the to the amazing tone. I highly recommend this guitar. I've been playing for 40 years and have had a Taylor, Breedlove and an Ovation. None of those were as good as this Washburn !!!

Perfect guitar... Perfect price

By Leslie from USA
Music Background: 30+ years

WOW! I love this guitar. It sounds and looks amazing. And the shape is so comfortable to play. I was really unsure if I was going to like this guitar because I was worried it wouldn't be able to produce the rich tones I was use to hearing on my previous guitar. I'm glad I took the chance because this guitar far exceeded my expectations. And the tone is amazing that a novice recognized I was playing a new guitar by the sound. And the sleek natural body is beautiful but won't take away from gorgeous design on the fretboard. I'd recommend this guitar to anyone in any stage of their guitar journey.

Better than I hoped!

By Steve S. from Utah
Music Background: I am an intermediate player at this point. But motivated to get much better.

I ordered this guitar because I liked the tone I heard on the product review. When it arrived, I waited the suggested time to let it adjust and warm to my home's temperature. Once I was able to tune it up and start to play, I was amazed at the mellow tone and the sustain. This does not sound like any concert sized guitar I have ever played. It has the sound of a large body. The workmanship is outstanding as well. This is a beautiful guitar.
I can't keep my hand off it. I ties easy to pay and just feels good in your hands. The setup done by Sweetwater was terrific. Then I plugged it in. My wife came in the room and had to hear it close up. She loves it too.
I happily give this guitar my highest recommendation. Got one. You'll thank me later.

A REALLY SWEET INSTRUMENT!

By Mike from Arizona
Music Background: Playing and loving music for over 30 years.

I decided to purchase one of these guitars after doing a LOT of comparison shopping, reading reviews and looking over specs and am glad I did! Just considering the features for dollars spent was a big part of my decision. There were two available at Sweetwater, but back and sides on the one I chose has the appearance of Koa which fits with the "island scene" inlay on the fretboard. (Koa wood is one of the species in the Acacia family.) And kudos to Sweetwater for doing photo shoots of the instruments and allowing customers to "choose their favorite"!

After waiting the recommended time before opening the packaging, (boy… that was hard to do), for the guitar to acclimate to my area, it became apparent that Washburn really has a winner here. The craftsmanship and appointments on this model are, IMO far above others in this price range. With features such as:
• ebony fretboard and bridge
• bone nut and saddle
• Gotoh 510 "style" tuning machines
• figured maple body bindings with matching contoured armrest
• abalone purfling and rosette
• custom style fretboard inlays
• solid spruce top
• good electronics with an analog style tuner
Although I have only had a few days playing time, I'm finding that this guitar really sings- with chiming highs, thumping low notes and great sustain! It is extremely comfortable to play due to the contoured armrest. The sound plugged in seems to sound best with the electronics set "flat". I am also partial to the satin finish on the neck which makes for smooth position changes.

As always, the Sweetwater team and my sales engineer, Colton Smiricky provided me with a great deal and excellent service! Thanks guys.

Finally….. if you've been looking for an instrument with these features, but can't afford the $4,000 to $5,000 price that one of the high-end manufacturers' charge, try this one!

Great looking guitar with a few issues

By Bruce H. from MD
Music Background: Stay at home guitar enthusiast

I saw this guitar at Gearfest in June. I immediately took a liking to the whole style of it, from the body shape, to the purfling, comfort edge, and most of all the fret board with the birds and island theme markings. I ordered one, which as always arrived in great condition and very quickly. Now that I've had it for a week or so, I am still very happy with the look of the guitar. The fit and finish are nice, the satin finish neck is easy to play, the electronics sound nice, and it's also nice to have an onboard tuner which I have never had before. It's body is a little smaller that a full size and thereby reasonably bright without a lot of pronounced bass. All these are positive things you would expect from a moderately priced guitar. The downside of my particular guitar is that it arrived with a negative bow in terms of neck relief, and the fret ends are pretty rough above about the 10th fret, mostly on the treble side of the neck. I called my sales engineer Nate who got me hooked up with the tech guys, who were very helpful, as was Nate. Adjusted the truss rod a bit, no big deal, and the neck bow became neck relief. The fret ends are still rough, but I'll deal with them when I do a string change. Here is the catch. When I adjusted the neck relief, the action on the upper part of the neck became pretty high. Higher than I can play comfortably with, which means the bridge is going to have to be sanded down to make the guitar comfortable to play. None of these issues are insurmountable, but I just would have expected more out of a $450 guitar, and that Washburn would have done a little better QC before it left the factory. If I didn't like the look and feel of it, I'd consider sending it back, but there is no guarantee the next one would be better.
I would recommend this guitar only with the stipulation that you go in with your eyes open, and expect to have some setup work done on it right out of the box. If you are willing to do that, you'll be happy with the rest. One more thing... If you are going to buy a guitar site unseen on line, you'd be well advised to buy from Sweetwater. They are the only provider I've dealt with that has the level of support and customer service to help you through any rough spots you encounter.
