It comes with three controls: Volume, pickup Blend, and a stacked (concentric) Treble/Bass control. The Volume pot is push/pull, with the up position bypassing your instrument’s active electronics. Bartolini’s acclaimed NTBT 2-band preamp/EQ features fully independent Bass and Treble controls with very low noise and a broad boost/cut range for aggressive tone shaping. A professionally prewired, fully tested harness is easy to install yourself, sparing you the time and aggravation of soldering your preamp and pots into your bass. Clean, articulate preamp!
Installed this preamp in my 20 year old warwick corvette proline. Replacing the stock MEC one after the board gave out. Definite increase in volume and the preamp gave the bass a much bigger sound. I wish they offered different knob choice though. Super easy to install

If you have Bartolini PU, get their pre. I used their PU for passive for a while and it didn't sound right. With this pre, Bartolini PU makes the sound heap of different bodies.

Had this installed in a Warwick Thumb BO. Big step up from the MEC pre. MEC boosts at 100 hz bass and 4k treble this guy is 30 hz (!!!!! Lol) bass and 6k treble. Wider spread, the lower frequency DEFINITELY more suited to bass!!! That 100 hz boost on the MEC pre is WOOFY. This "30" hz is WAYYYYY better - subbier. 6k is a nice compromise between bite and sparkle. Switch it out!!
As good as it gets.
Been using these Bartolini 918 preamps for years. You wont find a better onboard active/passive preamp out there. The bass fundamentals still ring true when in active mode yet the preamp is very responsive to tweaking. On passive mode its like not having a preamp at all.
I installed these on two Fender Jaguar basses and two Squier Jaguar basses. All on 18v system. If I could I would have most of my basses set up with these preamps. I think they are that good!
