Dunlop FFM6 Band of Gypsys Fuzz Face Mini Reviews
Looking for that elusive Band of Gypsys fuzz tone? Look no further! Dunlop has re-created this mysterious and long lost fuzz pedal and packed it into a compact, pedalboard-friendly size with the Dunlop FFM6 Band of Gypsys Mini Fuzz pedal. After analyzing all of the fuzz circuit designs that Hendrix used over the years, the engineers at Dunlop narrowed the sound to the vintage Octavio Fuzz without the octave up function. After a little more tweaking they nailed this more aggressive, biting iconic fuzz tone. Sweetwater guitarists agree, the Dunlop Band of Gypsys Mini Fuzz puts you on the fast track to vintage rock guitar tone.

My Favorite
Two knobs and so much great noise. The regular big red Fuzz Face always sounded muddy to me. This one rips with great clarity and cleans up to overdrive with the guitar volume knob. Love everything about it.
Fantastic Vintage Fuzz
I have a few other fuzz boxes (including the FFM3) but demo videos along with Dunlop's description of this BoG fuzz pedal got me really curious so I pulled the trigger and boy am I happy I did! This one really sets it apart from the others; hard to describe but definitely in that Hendrix-y vein! A great compliment to the FFM3 and just adds a different color that left me pleasantly surprised. Definitely a keeper!
Versatile
This pedal has great dynamics. You can set it at bedroom volume sonthat the tone is clean, on the edge of breakup and when you dig in you get that famous Jimi growl. It works as a boost and fuzz.
Stop searching... For REAL.
In any situation, from mild to wild, this fuzz pedal wins. Period. End of story.
Any effort to explain (in detail) the many fuzz pedals I've tried over the years in comparison to the FFM6 would take too long... It's ironic that after all my searching, and most pedals I tried had "more than 2 knobs" on them, it ended as it started; with a fuzz pedal that has 2 knobs. I hope this makes sense.
I've been playing since '76, heavy influence from Jimi, and seriously, until I tried this pedal, I never thought (or gave up rather) that I'd ever have that "Jimi fuzz sound". And I play out of a solid state amp. I am blown away really... with the fuzz set at 12 noon, and level set at 10 o'clock, (yes 10!) you can get Trower tones with smooth sustain.. with the fuzz at 2 o'clock you get Page and Beck tones... with fuzz at 3 o'clock, it's Jimi. Past that it's just MORE JIMI.
Excellent. Best fuzz pedal for all styles of electric guitar music.
Special Thanks to Dunlop for the tribute... it's truly like Jimi in a box. At least the "fuzz" part haha!
And to Sweetwater of course!
BUY THIS FUZZ. STOP SEARCHING... be happy and play guitar.
Band of Gypsys Fuzz Face Mini
Great pedal. Reproduces that classic fuzz sound. The small footprint works well on my pedalboard. As alway, Sweetwater service is great and reliable.
Gypsy fuzz
This is a very loud, very awesome, warm thick fuzz. I use it on a lot of leads and it also stacks pretty well with other drives and fx. Definitely a quality product.
Gypsy Rocks
When I stomped on this Little Gypsy it was like hitting Turbo. My amp exploded with this incredible warm fuzz distortion. I was more then impressed. It is extremely powerful. Whether you crank up the fuzz and volume. Or turn the fuzz and volume to just below half way.You will get a great sound. This thing rocks!!!

From Hendrix to Gibbons
I have always been a massive Hendrix fan and yet never thought to buy a fuzz before. I have many overdrive pedals, boots, and other dirt pedals but for some reason never been way into fuzz. Another favorite of mine is ZZ Top, so I decided to give this guy a chance to see if I could get some usable fuzz tones to capture that attack the unit gave Jimi and Billy when they let loose. This pedal did the trick after a little time figuring out the controls. I found I get the most usable sounds out of the volume at 12 o'clock and the fuzz all the way down.
I still can get most of the tone out of my amp. This one seems to loose a lot of highs the more you crank the fuzz knob. I am really digging it and look forward to trying some of the other pedals in the line since the circuit of this one seems to be described as way different than the others.
Hard to go wrong for the money. Sweetwater was super on top of their game. The thing had shipped in less than two hours and it was on my door step in record time.
Cool Fuzz!!!
This is a very nice sounding fuzz. Full saturation produces an all-out chaotic fuzz mess (in a good way) and turning down your volume control cleans it up well, so you can get a decent distortion as well as an arpeggio-friendly overdrive. Different settings between just the two knobs can give you different flavors of fuzz. I think it's just a tad pricey, but it is built like a little tank, not flimsy plastic. It's fun to play and has a small footprint. I can't vouch for how noisy or silent it is, as I can only play so loud in my apartment, but it's no noisier than my other dirt boxes.
Great pedal!
2nd best fuzz I've ever tried - I owned an early Big Muff over 40 years ago right out of high school and foolishly sold it. In pursuit of recent attempts to mimic the lead of "Comfortably Numb" I tried the EHX nano B.Muff and found it a poor substitute. Since then Kenny Bergle turned me on to the Fulltone Fulldrive III and followed by a Soul Food which worked quite well in sustaining the first notes. I've found the Mini Fuzz even closer without the over-fuzzed effect of the nano-Muff by just feeding the Fulltone and setting my compressor/sustainer properly.
I've got the Digitech Freqout on order so there's not much a non-shred hacker lead player like me can't handle tone-wize.
Kenny is the man at Sweetwater for knowing what I'm looking for in my budget, so props again to Kenny and Sweetwater!
Love This !
I just got this little gem yesterday , and I love it already . The BOG fuzz face is supposed to be based on Jimi's Fuzz Face used between 69-70 . It really captures that tone as heard on Woodstock , Berkley and Band Of Gypsys recordings . The trick to getting the best tones from this pedal is to run it through a slightly dirty amp or OD pedal , It cleans up incredibly well when backing off your guitar volume knob . I don't even have to turn this pedal off at all , I just use the volume knob for different gain settings. I'm very happy with it and if you never have used a Fuzz Face before , This pedal would be a great one to start with . The only thing I don't like about it is where the in/out jacks are located . A great pedal well worth checking out .
Worth every dollar, except...
This pedal is not that versatile. As you can see there is only: Volume, and Fuzz nobs. And it really only sounds good if you crank the fuzz knob all the way to the right. If you take it back even the slightest bit, it instantly gets sloppy, muddy, and choppy. So it is a great pedal, if you are into grunge, and some sorts of rock. But overall, it was worth the money.
Band of gypsys fuzz face
Narly tone
Hendrix band of Gypsies
Not quit what i thought it was going to be, i was expecting a little more of a classic tone. The fuzz tone is pretty muffled sounding, i guess i was expecting more of a beefier fuzz.
