I've purchased 2 transmitters. I still get drop outs

By Lawrence M. from Sebring, FL

Maybe it's the venues. And the FCC says we have to accept interference. Maybe I should have stuck with my line 6 digital. But I still get dropouts. Nothing is more frustrating as a solo acoustic musician and you're in the middle of a song and suddenly it's out, then in, then out, then in....ugh. I purchased Shure as they are sort of the standard.

Solid but not “true wireless”

By Sweetwater Customer

I'm pretty happy with mine. I use it for practice and live shows and the batteries last a good length of time before needing to be changed. Have no delay(or non noticeable) from when I play a note to when it comes through the amp. I will say the belt clip was kind of a POS, mine broke off the second time I used it. Other than that my only problem is I don't feel as if this is a true wireless set up. The transmitter hip pack has a cable that plugs in to your guitar with a cable that's a few inches long, rather than it just plugging directly in to yours jack, as my belt clip broke off 2nd use this means I end up sticking it in my front or back pocket and can be restrictive of getting really…energetic, on stage when playing live. Overall though I have no complaints, super easy to use right out of the box, light weight, plenty of channels, long battery life, range and no noticeable delay are all A+ you do have to keep an eye on a piece on your transmitter pack. Where the guitar cable wire plugs in to the receiver, there's a cone shaped black piece that can become loose, which will cause a bad connection and have your guitar cutting in and out, to fix it you simply screw the piece back tight as it is threaded(this is probably the problem whoever left the one start review is having and they haven't realized it)

Solid connection and performance

By Paul P. from Virginia
Music Background: Lifelong guitar player and musician with decades of pro performance and recording experience.

I got this to replace my old Shure GLX4 system that was simply going south on me and was long out of warranty. It's the less expensive option. Super impressed with the connection. I haven't really tested the range in a club full cell phones yet, but so far this unit does quite well.

Best Use - clubs. You're not going to use this thing at the Corporate Sponsored Massive Outdoor Arena, but it'll handle cleaning up all those dang cables at your feet in the Rock-Star-Fern-Bar across town. Hey, you can duckwalk on the bar and have a ball. Look ma, no cable!

I'll give a 4 -

PROS
- Simple to use
- Decent price-point to feature ratio.
- Solid connection and range.
- Audio sounds like it should (i.e. transparent)

CONS
- Reciever uses AA batteries, which I have to keep a stock of fresh ones on-hand at all times. Dangitall.
- I don't see a low battery indicator, which is a concern.
- Receiver is 100% plastic. It's solid enough, I guess, but you gotta respect it or you'll bust it.

Its a Shure quality wireless system at a decent price. Other non-shure brands are cheaper, but I trust Shure over those. That's just me.

Works great on Bass

By Paul from New york

Been using it for a few weeks and have had zero issues with it. Matt my rep suggested it to replace my old one that dropped out on bass constantly. Couldn't be happier with the product.

Fantastic guitar wireless system!

By John M. from DeForest, WI
Music Background: Professional musician

I've used a multitude of systems ever since wireless guitar systems came out... I'm not going to "bag on specific products"! I decided to go with this unit after years of frustrating drops outs, etc. with others. My first show with it was on a concert stage opening for George Lynch of the band Lynch Mob (Dokken). The unit performed flawlessly on a big stage and at every show since! Stop searching and just buy it! Fantastic sound quality, performance, and reliability!!!

Cuts out while playing

By Kevin T. from Cape Coral, FL

I'm sorry I bought this item.
I've had a Nady in the past that worked great.
This unit cuts out all the time.
When it works it sounds good, unlike cheaper wireless I've tried that degrade the audio.
But I can't use it, I'll be playing and everything is fine, then it cuts out for a second, then works again.
I can't play live and drop notes like this.
It does it with every guitar, and every amp.
I went back to using a cable.

Nice Operation

By frank f. from Brookville, OH
Music Background: New Guitar player w/ electronics background

Nice operation right out of the box. The battery compartment lid looks a bit flimsy so it'll be interesting to see how it holds up over time. The unit sounds much better to me than my well used Line 6.

Beats the rest!

By John from Spring, TX
Music Background: Guitarist

I had this wireless unit for some time before it was unfortunately stolen from my vehicle. That said, I came here to write this review for anyone considering purchasing a wireless unit. This one is fantastic. I never had a single drop out, the batteries are replaceable, the construction is plastic and lightweight which was initially a turn off, but it held up very well to frequent use and abuse. I used it for acoustic and electric guitars and basses with absolutely no issues. I primarily play in small/medium bars, clubs. or outside at parks, and it served me very well.

I got a slightly cheaper Line 6 wireless model, and it was awful. Constant dropouts, bad signal, battery life problems etc. Now the battery door cover which was made out of very cheap cast metal has literally disintegrated and it is held together with zip ties.

My bandmate purchased the same Shure system I did, around the same time, and his is still working great! Now I am kicking myself for trying to save a few bucks and going with a cheaper option.

Spend the $$ and get this if you want a wireless system, otherwise you are going to have issues and be sorry like I am.

Works Great!

By Dan from Central Florida
Music Background: local cover band bassist

This is a great wireless system, easy plug and play. My only caution is to make sure the trim pot inside the body pack is at zero. It was over driving my amp and clipping. Nick did a great job as usual. Never had a bad experience with Sweetwater! Thank you!

WOW! What a great Wireless bass unit this SHURE BLX14 H10 Band is!

By Sweetwater Customer from TEXARKANA, TX

So, I got my Shure BLX14 system and admittedly didn't open the box until I got to my "gig". I took new batteries, a patch cord to connect the BLX to the amp, and an USB charging cord to charge my sending unit to get my unit ready to go. My salesperson Alexander Verbiskiy told me, not to worry, everything was included. I opened the box, and sure enough, EVERYTHING WAS THERE. The AA batteries, the chord that connects the body pack to the Bass Guitar with a 1/4 inch jack, and step by step instructions. I DIDN'T EVEN READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. The 6 String LTD bass guitar I have with Active electronics sang to me all night long. No dropouts, no static, just a very crisp low end sound. I also didn't have to run the volume as loud either as I only ran the pre out on 4. I am so happy with this unit. Sweetwater did a fantastic job of giving me the different options and they could have tried to sell me the highest price unit. But they assured me that this unit was more than adequate for what I needed. I couldn't agree more. Sweetwater did a fantastic job suggeting and I am very happy with this purchase. WOW! What a great Wireless bass unit this SHURE BLX14 H10 Band is!

By Texas B. from TEXARKANA, TX
Music Background: 51 YEARS, BASS, DRUMS, PIANO AND GUITAR

This is by far one of the best Wireless systems I have ever used. For my LTD 6 string active electronics bass, it does a flawless job of reproduction without any distortion. Alexander Verbiskiy did a fantastic job of recommending this unit. He could have tried to sell me a higher device, but told me that would be more than sufficient. And it was, easy setup and fantastic sound. Thanks Sweetwater, job well done....Texas Bass Picker Texarkana, Texas Bass player for 51 years.

Nice!

By Ted S. from Grove, Oklahoma

The BLX14 works great! I have a set of CFG's but don't waste your money on those. The BLX14 is how wireless should work, clear tones with no distortion.

ANALOG!!!!!

By Maria C. from Old Hickory, TN

I work Nashville's lower Broadway. I am constantly running off stage, onto the floor, while running the tip bucket and playing on the street. In addition to my wireless bass, I use a wireless in-ear system. I was experiencing a lot of drop outs, with both systems. Drop outs, and the latency issue, were driving my drummer (he plays with a click) and the band director crazy.

Going analog was one of the best moves I could have made for this application. The unexpected improvement in tone (I use a MXR pre-amp, into a DI - no amp) alone makes it worth it. Sounds much more natural and less "blocky".

I have to really move around and get creative to get the tourists in - while using the new unit, I was able to go into the bar next door, climb into a monster truck in the middle of Broadway, and get to the back wall of the venue through a dense crowd with NO LATENCY and NO DROP OUT! I also experienced no interference with my in-ear system for the first time ever, so I was able to monitor the talkback mic, and the stage, for the entire show.

Very EZ set up. I am really happy with it.

Solid Performer

By Robert H. from Helotes, TX
Music Background: Weekend Warrior (Bass)

I have been using this system for the past nine months almost every weekend for gigs. Very easy to set up and use. I quickly scan and sync the recommended channel before every gig and I have yet to have issues with drop outs that often plagued my former cheap digital wireless system. The parts are very "plastic" so I try to be very careful handling the transmitter and receiver. So far, a solid performer that I am not afraid to gig with and I have no reason to purchase something more expensive.

Love it

By George J. from Springfield, Mo
Music Background: Semi-professional

This has been the simplest to set up to the best Frequency. Can't tell any difference between the tone between this and using a cord. I've had some systems that gave a harsh tinny sound but this one is great.

Excellent system for mobility and ease of operation.

By Mark H. from Sikeston, Missouri
Music Background: 56 years on Six string and 2 years on bass guitar

I became interested in wireless operation having been playing with one of my musical friends. I really like the concept of no wires to trip on or damaged cabling. The equipment is amazingly easy to set up and the instructions are quite explicit. It took about two minutes to get setup. Due to my background as an electrical engineer, I used an audio meter to set transmit levels. As the level set was increased, the distortion could be heard to increase. Level setting is easy even without technical metering. Just listen closely to your output. With an accessory cable a microphone can also be used with the equipment. I ran tests with a Shure SM58s microphone with excellent results. You cannot run both a microphone and a guitar input at the same time but either works very well. Also tested with a Shure PGA31 headset microphone with excellent results as well. Found no trouble with interference on the H10 band. Spectrum analysis showed no problem signals in the spectrum in use. All in all, this is a solid wireless system I can recommend.

Nice!

By John from Pinetop AZ

I have used this set up for several Sundays at Church. No distortion of my Music Man Stingray 5 bass sound and has the distances to meet and greet the congregation during the opening while walking around the crowd. Simple to use and set up and connects well into our Behringer X32 system. Batteries have lasted through 6 services so I am confident that if you play for a cover band you would have no problem doing 5 sets or more. Do yourself a favor and go wireless!
