I came into possession of a six-string banjo maybe 15-20 years ago. I always viewed this thing as a kind of junk instrument to get by with when I've been called to play banjo (pit orchestras mostly) and with only guitar chops this let me kind of fake through it. I never took it seriously, but after three gigs in one year needing this to work well, I decided to give it some TLC which included putting a set of these on it. I'm telling you this went from a throwaway--shove it in the closet until the next random banjo gig--novelty instrument, to a well balanced, shockingly well-intonated instrument that sounds just fantastic.
