This rubber/plastic damper actually lowers the pitch of your snare about a whole tone, eliminating overtones in the process. The resulting snare sound is punchier, smoother, and much more cooperative with live mixes and studio productions. Sweetwater drummers have been impressed with the results in our own studios; a feature we particularly like is the thumb-sized cutout, which facilitates quick removals with a hand or stick mid-song.

Not just for your snare drum!
I have a Gretsch Catalina Club 18" kick drum kit as my main drum set. The snare that it comes with is a 14" by 5", and the floor tom is a 14" by 14". I used it on my snare for a little bit, but then I got an idea. "What if I tried using it on my floor tom?" I tried it, and it works really well! It lowers the pitch of the tom by almost 3 whole steps! Really digging this little piece of equipment!
GREAT PRODUCT!
This is a great product for so many reasons. It fits great, doesn't bounce when hit, and has a nice sound. An added bonus is when you have silent stroke heads and want to play brushes, it allows you to do that.

Not bad, not great
Does help with tone but biggest issue it doesn't stay in place. I've had to tape mine down which defeats the purpose of quickly removing for brighter sounding songs. Marginal control helping overtones.

Heard about these things through the drum world. So I had to get one myself. Sweetwater was quick and the product can in quick. And the product itself sounds great!! Highly recommended

If you record an acoustic kit in your studio, you need to pick one of these up to have around, period.
Bought it for less than my batter head, and popped it on, loosened up the snares a bit and out came the dry, fat crunch! My jaw dropped when I heard the difference!
You won't regret having this around as a 'tool' to instantly change your snare from high and tight to deep and crunchy!
