If you want to add a port hole or two to your kick drumhead, Bass Drum O's are the way to go. Of course they look cool - if you play rock or metal, Bass Drum O's are guaranteed to boost your drumming cred. But they also protect your port from damage and cover up frayed, uneven, and unsightly cutouts.
Inner Ring Doesn’t Stick
I've bought 3 of these chrome rings and on all 3, the inner ring is physically impossible to install no matter how hard I press. This is has been a common complaint from many buyers for years and I don't know why Bass Drum O's still hasn't fixed it. The front/outer piece fits in the hole and sticks fine, but after one hot summer outdoor gig, it fell off and lost its stickiness. Had a gig at Lincoln Center and the dang thing wouldn't stay on, but the tape residue stayed behind. That inner ring would really come in handy if it actually worked. I might shave the inner diameter with a Dremel tool and see if that helps.
