Vox BC108 25-watt 1x8" Cabinet Reviews
Vox's BC108 speaker cabinet is a perfect mate to the company's line of MV Nutube amp heads. Though it boasts a modest 8" speaker, the BC108 has been specifically voiced to push a deceptive amount of low end and punch from its diminutive size. And the cabinet's semi-open back design offers a wide sound dispersion while simultaneously retaining a tightness in the lows that is rare for micro enclosures. Whether you have a Vox MV amp or not, the BC108 1 x 8" guitar speaker cabinet is a convenient way to get great tone.

Great Little Cab!
Great little cab to pair with any smaller amp head for bedroom/close quarter volumes.
Do the PAIR!
After using the BC 108 by itself for several months, I decided to add a second one for a "mini stack" based on several owners who said that this really unleashes the sound of the Vox MV50-Clean mini amp head which they were designed to pair with. I still wanted a compact and lightweight amp system for gigs that was easy to transport and easy to set up without my back getting crunched hauling it around. Upon plugging in both speaker cabs, I flipped on the MV-50 and...WHOA! More volume at the 50-watt (amp only runs 25 watts on a single cabinet load) level plus more crystal clear tone than I had imagined. Definitely gigable even at larger venues. Now, I have to mention that this dual speaker setup only works with amp heads that will push 4-ohms, since there are 2 8-ohm speakers in parallel. So I can't use my Joyo mini heads or my low-watt Hotone. They are all designed for 8-ohm resistance. But any head that will tolerate a 4-ohm load will sound fantastic through these speakers. Do the TWO. You will be amazed.
Very Gig-able
Don't be fooled by all the users of this little box that say it's only great for practice or recording. I just just used this cab with a little Joyo Atomic sitting on top of it at a small venue, and it was perfect. Unless you're trying to melt faces with volume, this little box produces clear and punchy bass along with chimey mids and highs that cut through the band nicely. The speaker in it compares with a Jensen CR8 vintage. It's great for playing in small rooms and/or jazz settings. If you want it louder to solo with, just punch a compressor or boost pedal on your board, and this thing handles the increased db's with no distortion. I play with a 4-pc. combo and there was no problem hearing the guitar over the bass, organ and sax. Love this little guy. No more hauling around heavy amps when this combo does everything I need for gigging.
Paired w Soldano Micro Head
Excellent combination for the money! Very happy with these two combined!
It's cute and fun.
I have this paired with an H&K Tube Meister 5 head and the combo makes for a great little tabletop amp. The cab sounds much better than I expected and it's built very well.
Vox BC108 25w 1x8" cabinet
This is my 2nd BC108 purchase. When the 1st one arrived I was impressed by the size of the sound from this little cabinet! It has a classic Vox high end, but surprisingly the low end has far more presence than I expected from a 1x8. They take the full output from my Vox MV50-Clean with out complaining. I needed the 2nd BC108 so I could run 2 in parallel, to properly match the amp's impedance. Now my neighbors can enjoy the full 50w output from my little Vox amp head! Four Vox nameplates in the house now, good stuff!
Don't know why I bought it.
I have several amps but all of them require stairs and I just got fed up with carrying them up a flight of stairs trying to open the door after getting to the top and seen this tiny amp and speaker, the MV 50 with this BC 108. so, I bought it and was so impressed that I bought the second BC 108. these can hold up under being pushed and have a great tone and they are so little. I actually like the sound better than my much more expensive amps that this is now my grab and go amp. I like the way it looks even if it is unnoticed on stage because of its size but when I crank it the others all turn their heads in amazement. you won't know if you like it until you play it and go back to your other amp and its then you see what sound you want and for me it's this. now if you're looking for ear piercing loud and you're into metal, you might pass on this.
years ago, I set up equipment for the pros at a cassino as a part time job, and I was amazed at some of the amps they had sometimes it was two tiny tube amps and they mic them through front of house and was really a nice sound. so, I haven't had to mic these, and I am starting to believe that they can make an 8-inch speaker that sounds as nice as a 12.
this little guy can keep up
I play guitar in church, and I have several amps and have struggled being too loud several times.
So, I bought this thinking if I needed more volume, I would add a speaker to it and get the full effect of the 50 watts.
so out of the box I took it for the first service and with the older gospel songs it was perfect at 25 watts with volume left over.
So, I asked one of the singers for the second service how loud they were, and he said I should be able to keep up with it.
the second service is a contemporary service, and he was wrong they were loud. I used a tube screamer for this type of music, and they almost drowned my little amp out and I kicked the Pic up booster and tube screamer that has a volume nob on them, and it gave me enough volume. I watched the meter to make sure I didn't overload this little guy and it hung in there and with a sweet sound. actually, got lots of complements on the sound.
this thing is remarkable.
BC108/MV50AC
Bought this as a bundle for an amazing price. Crisp, articulate with touch sensitivity. Absolutely thrilled. Will satisfy my tube needs for a while maybe longer. As always Trey Stebbins was helpful, smooth and efficient. Thanks
Wow!
Got this little guy when they had the set on sale for $149.00! Great cabinet clean, loud when you need it to be.
More than Pleasantly surprised, wow factor alert
Got this speaker as part of the 2 piece MV50 CLEAN amp/ Speaker offer that just ended. To be honest, I didn't expect to get a superior sound from this cab. I read all the reviews here on Sweetwater and debated if some were embellishing the facts. For comparison, I have a BLACKHEART cab with a custom EMINENCE 10" speaker (16 ohms) by Eminence for the BLACKHEART. This is one of those runs Eminence did with custom colors and product specific labels, that to me, adds a heritage vibe to the speaker. It's also got a mellow warm sound. Knowing the quality of the Eminence brand, I was skeptical of how this VOX speaker could compare. Especially too, that this is more of a generic speaker with no aesthetic paint or cabinet series labeling. Like you'd see with the BULLDOG Speaker run. Man, was I surprised at what I heard. They are all correct about this speaker cab. This 8" speaker/ cabinet combination is awesome. At the moderate levels I practiced at, it's very impressive. I hate shrill sounding speakers and this cabinet sounds as good as my Blackheart to me. No regrets here.
Incredible cabs
I bought a pair of these to go with an MV50 Clean almost as a fun experiment. I was blown away by both the amp and the speakers. They have more low range than you'd ever expect, but more importantly they're just perfect for guitar. In fact, they've sold me on the idea that 2x8 is better than 1x12 and possibly even 2x12. I attached the MV50 to top of one cab (with pedalboard velcro) and mounted the power supply inside. This gives me a super light 25w 1x8 "combo" to grab and go with. However, it really shines when I hook up the second speaker have the full 50w. I place them side by side on a tilt-back stand and it's absolutely amazing. Highly recommend. This is my main rig now.
Two is the way to go
So far I really like the compact speakers. If you want to use it for anymore than just a monitoring speaker for the drummer get two. Sometimes there is no substitute for pushing air.
I've used it on the Vox MC50 (single & doubled) and for an orange terror stamp (single). Both really cool little pedalboard amps to fatten your sound but it all depends on how you intend to use them.
Fantastic
I bought a pair of these to go with the Vox MV50 clean and the Hughes & Kettner spirit of vintage. And OMG! I never would have guessed you could get the sound you can out of 8" speakers. I mean 1 is good, but a pair.. just do it.
BC108
Small size big sound easy to transport
Mike it up works for small clubs etc
Sweet bedroom cab
This little Vox sounds great. Kinda crazy for the size. I have a orange micro terror paired with it yeah great tones. And Dontae Harris and sweetwater are outstanding at taking care of you. Best customer service hands down. That's what keeps me coming back to sweetwater!
Take two, their small
I originally bought one to go with my MV50 AC30 head. If you're using one with that as impressed as you might be with one adding a second one,and running it a four ohms takes it to the next level. With two boxes it keeps up with a drummer
this thing cranks, great speaker
I was blown away how loud and clear this little cab/speaker can get. Its great for the bedroom and practice. Pretty sure it will mic up nice too. I'm running an Orange Micro Terror amp on top and its loud af for its size. The guys at Sweetwater recommended getting this as it paired up nice with the Orange I bought and can handle the watts/ohm ( missed out on VOX head/ speaker the deal they had, Im still happy). buy this for your bedroom or small rehearsal space or to record with. you wont be disappointed.
Vox BC108 25-watt 1x8" Cabinet
This cab is just what I was looking for. It is small but it sounds really good (paired with a Marshall DSL20HR). This thing can also get pretty loud. I recommend this cabinet if you're looking for something that doesn't take up a lot of space.
Vox Products Have Never Let Me Down
I got 2 of these little rascals and I have to say that I am impressed with the overall frequency response of these little guys. For an 8" speaker, it puts out pretty good bass also. I agree with another reviewer that when you chain 2 together,
you get the full 50 watts into 4 ohms from your MV50 heads. Very clean cleans and nice dirty sounds. They look nice stacked on top each other for a mini stack but sound best spread apart on the floor about 3 ft apart. Try one today or 2! You won't be disappointed.
Vox B10
Pretty impressed with the sound of this cab for its size. Just what I needed for my small music room.
My first cab smaller than a 212 ...
I've been throwing my fingers at guitars for 30 years. I'm no expert and I'm no fool. I bought the MV-AC In a package deal with this cab. I'd dismissed any speaker smaller than a 12" just based on my limited experience and conventional wisdom(other people opinions). I don't play outside my living room but have a 412 as my go to. My 412 stopped working the day after I ordered this. I've put it through its paces as my sole guitar amp for a couple months now and both the amp and cab just blew me away! I run 8-14 pedals in front because it's fun and I haven't had any problems. I'm questioning my penchant for 12" speakers now. It's not a 412, but then again ...it's not a 412. Pros far and away the little lack of low end. It's actually a really good amp and cab. The build quality on the cab is top notch and the head is bulletproof. Grab one! I'm getting another to run stereoeoeo!!!!
Great little cab!
Hi. I bought this cab to use as an additional speaker with my Vox Mini Superbeetle (to get the full 50 watts from the amp). It is very well made. Hooked up, it has a very full sound, with an adequate and surprising amount of bass. It actually seems to be louder than the 10" speaker in the amp! I'm very pleased. If you need a small 25 watt cab, you can't go wrong with this one! Inexpensive, too.
Need two for full 50 watts
When I got my MV50 AC and bc108 I was blown away by just what a great amp it is but I found out that to get the full 50 watts you need to run four ohms. Buying a second one when run together gives you that 4 ohms and man does it make a difference in volume and clarity. The presence is so much more "there" with two. With 2 it becomes gigworthy. Adding the second bc108 makes a great amp even better.
Whoa, DUDE!
So I took the very low risk (still can't believe the price on this thing) and followed the reviews and I could not be happier! I am utterly blown away by the low end and girth of this tiny beast - my bandmates couldn't believe it either. Not sure what Vox did but I love the direction they're going and this thing matches my MV50 so well, I'll certainly be buying another to run at the full 50 watts. It's just warm, tubey goodness and this little cab supports it so well. I have nothing bad to say about it and I can carry this guy with my pinky. Just buy it!
vox speaker
well made and sounds great the sound is there as in great
MV50 AC and twin BC108 cabs
There is no way to describe my amazement at this tiny monster...it sounds fantastic! Even after watching tons of YouTube reviews ...to hold it, see it, and hear it, at the same time is almost mind blowing. It can be exceptionally clean...or incredibly dirty.. You can not tell the difference between it and its AC30 cousin. The tube sound is not mimicked, its there. It fits my mini studio like a glove, but yet has enough power to wake the neighbors (Wouldn't do that, I like my neighbors...just sayin!)
I've been playing for years, I never thought I would be impressed with a three knob amp and two eight inch speakers. My back would be so much better now if they had these back in the day!
Amazing build Vox, been a fan for years, will be a fan for many more
GREAT !
For a little speaker this one packs a wallop !! Matched with the Vox M-50 it's perfect !
Vox BC108
Beautiful little cab for the price, it's pretty obvious Vox did a lot of work to accentuate the low end and make this sound bigger than it is. I'm running it out of a Micro Dark just cause the watt rating is a little higher in the cab and the tone is amazing (25:20). Just about to order another one for a micro stack. I don't know that I'd gig with this, though I couldn't find a better cab for a studio or practice.
Deceiving
This cab puts out a huge, full sound, this is challenging to describe. I feel that the Vox cab improves the sound of my guitars. The clean tones are beautiful! I use it along with a Orange Micro Dark head, the Vox cab sounds much better than the Orange 8'' cabs.
Good product
Light weight, portable, good sound.
One Impressive Little Speaker Cabinet
I bought the BC108 cabinet to use with my Vox MV50AC amp head. This is a nice little combination. This is the first speaker cabinet I've owned that has noticeably improved in tone and output as it is "played in". I currently have about 40 hours on this cabinet and I'm so impressed with it that I'm taking it to a small club gig that I'm doing this weekend. Normally I'd bring my AC15 or Night Train 15 with me, but I have enough confidence in this little combination that they are coming with me. My pedalboard actually weighs more than this amp/speaker combo.
Good job, Vox!
VOX BC108 cabinet
Hi , I'll be short
I've got now the two bc108 cabinets and i put a little power amp (2*15watts)in one of them and run this through a boss gt1 in stereo
Sounds good to me , different from tube amp but still very good and versatile especially for bedroom playing level but it also can get quite loud
It's nice that you can't see any guitar amplifier around and still get that very convincing guitar sound
Little Power-House Amp
This is a nice, power-packed amp. Especially paired with the MV50 series amp head. The sound is clear, full and round. Very nice.
Works great
I bought this to pair with a Quilter super block UK. Its light and makes a great cab for practice in my living room or outside.
