Turned a relatively good guitar into a cigar box

By edward w. from Philadelphia, PA

I like a darker sound, so I've been using Martin Retro monels on my Eastman AC322, which is a pretty neutral sounding spruce/mahogany grand auditorium. I thought I'd try these to see if I liked them better or worse because they're supposed to do the same thing. The sound was dark, but the sound also lost all the complexity and richness. These strings made my all solid guitar sound like an all laminate. My wife and kids also said the difference was large, so it wasn't just me giving in to the power of suggestion. I took them off and put the monels back on. Unless your guitar is terribly, terribly bright, I'd try other stings like the monels or the Ernie Ball silk and steel that will give a more mellow sound than 80/10 or phosphor bronze.

Recently switched from another major brand to these on my Acoustics.

Worth the few extra bucks

By Mike from New York

These are the best strings I've ever played in my entire life by a long shot. So crisp and articulate, really brightens up my Martin and makes it sound much more defined and less muddy. I've played DR, Ernie Ball, D'Addario and Martin but from now on GHS will now be the only strings I put on my instruments.

Unbelievable Sound & Projection

By D. G.

I have basically been an electric guitar player for many, many years and learned to play guitar on my Dad's Gibson 1930 f Hole Archtop. I have two acoustic guitars that are newer, one a Taylor 214ce Deluxe and an Epiphone Masterbilt 500RE. I put these ghs BB strings on my Epiphone and it turned into a baby Gibson J-200. What a rich, bright sound that projected for miles. It literally brought that guitar to life and I'm in love with it once again. Since I play mostly electric, the heavier gauge strings on an acoustic tend to wear my hand out quick. But these Ultra Light gauge, .010-.046 are perfect and can be played for a long time and fingering is effortless and don't sound thin. I understand that they stay bright for a very long time. We'll see. But I am sold on these for my Epiphone. Gonna try them on the Taylor to see what they sound like on it, next. After changing strings I wanted to redo an acoustic track that I had recorded some time back. Now the acoustic track really stood out in the mix. Sounded great. What a difference. Very pleased with this purchase.
