Great sound and great feel

By Michael from Curtin on April 27, 2021 Music Background: Intermediate Guitar player, beginner banjo and ukulele player

I'm a guitar player and I've been wanting to learn the banjo since I was like 15 and finally after years I pulled the trigger and got this bad boy and I love it! It's a really nice beginners banjo, it sounds really good and has a great weight and feel to it. It stays in tune well and came with no flaws or blemishes. I'm obviously no expert but for the price point I'm very satisfied with my purchase

This is a great sounding banjo. A wonderful instrument with a beautiful finish. I am extremely pleased.

Out of the box was easy to tune (I use an electronic tuner) and great sound.

Darn good first banjo !

By Porkie on March 28, 2016

Well since this is my first string instrument it's doing what I expected it to do and others say it sounds
great! I've researched the history before I purchased and I was happy to support the Washburn company.
Very satisfied for my first selection of banjo !!

Great banjo for the beginner

By jkdrummer from Seattle, WA on October 13, 2014

This model is the right price and quality for a beginner. My banjo came with an action that's not too stiff and is easy on your fingers. Best of all, it stays in tune after sitting for a couple days. Plus, it sure sounds and looks nice! Best of all, is the Sweetwater customer service after the sale.

Sadly non convertible

By Deana Dartt from Oregon on February 7, 2021 Music Background: Beginner

The banjo is beautiful but is pretty non functional without the resonator. The banjos I've seen can convert to an open back easily, but this has the steel frame that makes it really uncomfortable to play without the resonator on. The scalloped edge pokes into your leg. Also, the plastic drum head makes it seem pretty cheap. Had I seen this in person I wouldn't have bought it. It's pretty. But not at all traditional. And I'm disappointed.

Good for getting started

By Matthew from Philadelphia on February 27, 2021 Music Background: 20 years

Its a beginners instrument and it got me started. Its cheaply made and the parts are crap. For the quality, the price is not good. I got mine 1/31/21 and am already wanting to upgrade.
