Awesome Banjo

By Chris Froehner from Bakersfield, Ca. on December 20, 2020 Music Background: Playing most of my life.

I'm very happy with it! For the price, it is great! It suits my style much better than the 5 string. I'm using a lot of drop D tuning.

a really nice banjo for the price!

open back so it's not too loud, lighter, and it's a six string and i'm a lefty, so the bridge was reversed and the nut replaced within a half hour of unboxing (after acclimation! trucks are cold this time of year), it's a super fun addition to the repertoire. Come on Eileen, get ya one!

Washburn B6 6-String Open Back Banjo

By Jim Blake from Springfield, Mo. on October 2, 2015

A good way to enjoy old time foot stomping pickin'. This is my first product review, but I'm only 87. Please give me time. If you want one you'll have to go to sweetwater to get yours. You can't have mine. I like it too much. Thanks Stephen for introducing me to this fine and fun instrument.

Washburn B6 6-String Open Back Banjo

Simply fun to play with. Really like the sound of it and the ease to tune and play.
Didn't want to take time to learn to play another instrument as I am only playing for my own pleasure with friends and this banjo bring another sound to our jam time.

Really enjoy it.

Will definitely recommend this banjo to anyone even professional players.

Very nice but...

This is a terrific instrument and came as advertised. As is typical for Sweetwater, they provided the best customer service in the industry; thanks Stewart. It will need to be set up when you get it and I recommend a drum dial or have a pro set it up. My only disappointment with the instrument is the frets are sharp and need to be rounded with a file. Other than that, it's worth the price.

Lazy guitar players -- get one!

By :Lynn Hughes from Upper Bucks County, PA on November 16, 2019 Music Background: gigging part time pro (old folkie) for more than 50 years

This is a totally playable instrument, even if real banjo players will be waiting to have a word with you in the parking lot after your gig. If you are a guitar player looking to add another sound to your performance without having to learn a new instrument, this will do it. It fits a standard banjo case (at least, it fits the firm foam-core one that I have) and you can order strings for it here. Setting the bridge correctly might need some advice but it's not that hard. My only complaint (which cost the fifth star) is that the edges of the frets are sharp. I got a guitar fret file and am working on smoothing them off, but they really should be more user-friendly when the instrument is checked out. That said, I'm glad I bought it.

Unplayable!

By Sweetwater Customer on March 31, 2017 Music Background: Professional musician

As a pro musician of over thirty years, I know a thing or two about instruments. First off, I want to say that Matt and sweetwater are top notch. Fantastic company. However, this instrument is nothing more than something you'd hang on the wall. I spent three hours trying to set it up. I finally took it to a luthier who specializes in bluegrass instruments. He said it was absolute piece of junk and that pretty much any banjo is this price range would also be useless. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this.
