An oddly awesome snare head
I went from a frosted EC2 head to this with my snare drum, and the characteristics of this head were quite a [welcome] surprise. This head took a lot of the low-end, fatter frequencies out of the snare and managed to replace it with more tone, ring, and sustain. I loved its personality, but it's not a head I'd use on a [main] snare drum as much as it is one I'd use on an aux snare. All around great snare head though (and I have yet to try these on toms.)

With less than one hour of playing time the coating started coming off...
Proud to be an Evans lifer
Frosted EC2's were my go to heads for my 10",12",13" and 14" rack toms for years, now rolling w/Team Onyx from here on out.I recommend Onyx to drummers of any genre, sounded good tuned to both pitch and resonance, so it will come down to personal preference.best sounding heads I ever heard.
Killer Snare Tone
This is a very well balanced sound. Very detailed tone with a lot of warmth. Has a little more overtones that I originally assumed, but throw a moongel or two on for a well rounded dry sound. This is a great option for sure!
Versitile
I tried several different heads to be used as a snare head and wound up using this head after several tries on the bottom of my 14X12 floor tom, amazing punch and depth, sounds great for recording, all my top heads are Evans Blue. Having several toms(7) I get different tonal qualities by using different bottom heads.
