Awesome for the classic R121 SM57 combo
I love the R121 and SM57 on guitars, so this is a no brainer for me. makes setup and moving mic's around so much easier. This makes phase alignment a snap. I know some folks want to position the two mics in different places or speakers on the cab, but for what I'm doing I like them both roughly in the same spot. Also since the mic clip for the R121 is not very good, this also works for that better than the included mic clip.
Great idea, poor implementation and cheaply made
Great thing
It works as expected.
MUST HAVE
If you own these mics you already know, you can't go wrong with probably the best ever dual mic rig ever made for miking Amps!!!! Worth every dime!
A very nice time saver
Makes micing an amp quick and easy.
Great clip for the R 121
This clip works well for many applications. I have used it when recording the 121 alone or with the 57. I have also used it in a mid side configuration with a Neumann KM 184. The 184 is much smaller in diameter than a 57 so I had to wrap rubber surgical gauze around the Neumann to hold it securely but it actually works well. If you have a 121 and don't have the money to buy a Royer shock mount, get this. Don't put your Royer in a cheap universal clip that can literally fall apart on the job.
Royer
Typical Royer quality...you need this.
Great product!! Worth the price.
This makes setting up the mics a whole lot easier and I used it for the first time yesterday in recording a 4x12 cab... sounded amazing! My cab is slanted so I typically use the bottom speakers, however, yesterday I tried the top ones as well and actually loved the sound coming out of them. I did not angle the mic to match the speaker I kept it flush like you would if you were micing the bottom speaker of any cab...flat or 90 degrees to the floor. The slight angle of the top speaker away from the Mics gave it an interesting difference in sound but both ways sounded really good.
I especially like the feature where the SM 57 slides in, there’s a little arrow that shows you exactly how to line up the mics. I tested it out and phase was perfect between the two mics.
Smart Design
This mount is such a smart design and worthy of the $40. It even has an arrow indicator to help line up the distance of the SM57's and R121's diaphragms to further ensure phase alignment. The mount itself feels very sturdy with just enough flex to it to make it easy to insert the mics, and it also has a high-quality "gentle" feel to it that won't mar or scratch the mics. Very nice mount that will simplify the R121+SM57 combo.
I have been using the 57/121 combo for years A+
I have been using the 57/121 combo for years. They sound good using two mic stands. But this single clip just sounds better no matter what. No hassle and perfectly in phase. Best money I ever spent on a clip. Buy this you will not be disappointed.
