Delay Guitar Effects Pedal with Envelope Follower and Pitch Tracker

Gamechanger Audio's Auto Series Delay is a delay junkie's paradise, with functionality you won't find anywhere else. This powerful stompbox includes three delay algorithms: Tape, Analog, and Digital. You also get three ping-pong panning settings and streamlined Level, Tone, Repeat, and Time effect parameter knobs. Like the rest of Gamechanger Audio's Auto series, this pedal offers real-time dynamics and pitch tracking, enabling you to control its processing with your playing dynamics and note choices. You also get creative, modular-style routing possibilities using the included patch cables. This unlocks a plethora of creative applications, such as selectively applying delays to high notes while leaving lower notes untouched, controlling the blissfully chaotic sound of self-oscillating feedback with your playing dynamics, and creating meticulously ducked delay repeats. You also get tap tempo and MIDI or analog clock synchronization. Tired of pedestrian-sounding delays? If so, fire up Gamechanger Audio's Auto Series Delay and prepare to unleash the full might of your imagination.

Super versatile and usable delay

By Pete M. from Boston

I got this thing for more subtle usage but I've had a ton of fun seeing where it can go. I've often found delay will clash with my playing, and when I turn it off it feels unnatural like something is suddenly missing. With the Auto Delay I've been able to tune it such that I can get a nice full echo going but still be able to play over it with a range of dynamics. Yes, I'm sure there are ducking delays that allow a similar type of feel, but having both dynamics and pitch (for me especially the tone setting) being able to control parameters is very cool.

On the less-subtle side, this pedal can do some really wild stuff but still in a usable way. I recommend checking out Gamechanger's demo video to get a sense of the range. Runaway self-oscillation but only on a certain note (and you can set the note on the fly), warbly delay time tweaking, and like a hundred other things. Interactions with other pedals, instruments, etc.

As far as the interface, it definitely takes some time to understand, but once you get the basic ideas it's not bad. If you omit the little patch cables entirely it's just a regular, 4-knob delay that sounds nice to me. One little snag for me is not losing said patch cables. I haven't yet and they're really cheap to replace, but it's just one more thing to keep track of.

I've found it really needs the direct guitar input, which is easy to achieve with the little added splitter they give you. I tried it in my amp's effects loop without using the splitter, and even with a very clean pre-amp and the input set to line level the pitch tracking was not working. It's a problem they already solved, but something to be aware of. Only downside is a slightly more complex setup. I just set it up at the front end of my pedal board and don't have to think about it.

All together, I love this thing. It's been perfect for the subtle stuff I was after but it has so much range. Definitely plan on spending a little time learning how to use it though.
