Way Huge Smalls Aqua Puss Analog Delay Pedal Reviews
The Way Huge Smalls Aqua-Puss Analog Delay MkIII enchants riffs and fortifies leads with pure analog bucket brigade goodness. This reduced-size 'Puss packs all the tricks — including self-oscillation and chewy tape-style echo — of its larger namesakes. Operation is delightfully straightforward: set the length (Delay) and number (Feedback) of repeats and then blend to taste using the wet/dry (Blend) control. The Blend control is where the magic of this pedal lives, giving the MkIII a musical range that spans subtle coloration to ghostly wails and moans. The Aqua-Puss really shines for rockabilly-type slapback, where it's able to add depth and character without stepping on an arrangement. An added boon is the MkIII's true hard-wire bypass switching, which better preserves the integrity of your signal when disengaged.

Great delay
Does an amazing job for country style leads among other things.
Subtle but impactful
While this pedal does not offer the versatility like some of the new digital delay pedals on the market, it is excellent at achieving the desire sounds that is expected from an analog pedal. It is great at creating a slap back sound and if you turn the feedback dial up just a little it widens your sound and makes it sound fuller more than an actual delay response. Its great when you want your lead tones to stand out which is the way I use this pedal. You can also get crazy delay sounds from this as well. But you have to ask yourself are you in the market to get the most bang for your buck? If so then a digital delay pedal that offers more options is probably the best way to go. However if you know the sound you want to get without having to spend hours dialing it in this pedal is a no brainer. The Aqua-puss makes me appreciate pedals that are easier to plug and play without having to spend hours playing around with several knobs to find the perfect sound. Plus the bright blue design is an added bonus.
Aqua Puss MKIII
Does everything I need and more!!!!
Set it and forget it
When it comes to an "always on" short delay or doubling delay, this gets the job just fine. Not quite as dark as the MKI, but that's okay with me. I tend to like a bright tone and it works excellent for my rig. I normally use digital delays for echo and dotted 8th note delay sounds so this works absolutely perfect for an always-on short delay.
Nice analog delay tones!
I'm not a huge delay guy, but for the short warm delay tone that I do enjoy, this does a great job!

all in good condition
5 gold stars for you!
What are you waiting for? You know you want to.
Way awesome
This thing is incredible. I upgraded to this from an electro-harmonix canyon. While that is a decent delay it never sounded organic and natural to my ears. The aqua puss inspires me to play. Run a reverb before this pedal and it'll take you to the outer space. I can't say enough good things about the sound I get from this little guy. Don't hesitate just buy it
A Return To Form
I had one of the originals many years ago and thought it was great. Alas, like many other pedals, it eventually went away, but I kept finding myself thinking, "I'd like to get another one of those." This Smalls version really hits on all six - sounds just like I remember the original, but the tiny size is very nice. Controls are simple and - for the aforementioned tiny size - are easily accessible and not fiddly at all. The sound? It's a simple machine; it does some tape-style echos and self-oscillations, but also really thickens up your sound with doubling, etc. and does a heckuva slap-back, too. I dig this pedal A LOT. If you're looking for a fat, not exactly clean, analog delay with a lot of character, you will, too.
Nice pedal
The Aqua-Puss does slapback delays the best and is a nice pedal for short delay time. This new version still have the clock noise when the pedal delay is past 2pm but that has always been part of the delay pedal. If you want to know what I'm referring to watch reverb demo when they put delay past 2pm. There are better delays out there but this does a lot really well and is a classic. I love the new small size.
Awesome Delay
This pedal is awesome. Warm, but not to dark, analog delay that sounds bubbly and splashy (I guess you have to play it to really understand what that means). This is the first Aqua-Puss I've played through so I can't really speak to how it holds up to previous versions, but I've heard quite a few played by others and I have to say it sounds spot on to my ears. I use it with the delay and feedback all the way off and the blend up a good amount to get a doubling effect on my overdriven tone for solos, and the delay and feedback up a bit higher for that classic slap back sound. Delay all the way up and feedback at 12 o'clock gives me a really smooth, splashy sound for the ambient stuff I play. I know a lot of people prefer digital delay for ambients and 300ms isn't enough for some, but it works really well with my playing style and I think the analog circuit adds a nice flavor. The pedal is much smaller than I anticipated as well. It's not tiny, but for reference it's smaller than your standard Boss pedal. I might pick up a digital delay at some point in the future so I have some more options to play around with, but for my straightforward delay sounds my search is over.
Delays are not clean
This delay is a decent utility pedal. Good for short delays and slap backs. It has very little headroom, and delays are very distorted. This doesn't really matter if you have an overdrive on, but it's weird to hear a distorted repeat on a totally clean guitar. Would be nice if the pedal had a little more headroom.
Needs the Xvive MN3005
I bought 2 of these. Both oddly distort compared to the full size version, and its not clock noise its straight up distortion. I see sweet water had a gap in availability so I hope they are switching to Xviv MN3005 chip or something with headroom like the ones John Mayer uses. This version is OK but similar to a distorted echoplex.
