Alpha Twin Duo Rocks!!
I had been toying with getting new studio monitors and when my daughter was ready to start her studio, I decided to give her my JBL's and started looking. This design is PERFECT for the way my studio is set up in a small room. Sits on my recording desk at the perfect height. The clarity and separation I'm hearing now is WAY better than anything I've previously owned.!
Very Accurate
So glad I pulled the trigger on these monitors. I have used Yamaha and Adam in the past and they are both very good in the mid-range, but lacked enough low end to really know what you were hearing below 100 Hertz or so. These are extremely accurate and they have a nice tight low end. It's not like having a subwoofer, or anything like that so don't think I'm saying it's got sub bass, but you can accurately mix your low end instruments and trust what you're hearing. I absolutely love these monitors!!
Best for the buck!
One note of warning, these boys are big. Not to heavy though. Be sure they can fit.
After using this for over 6 months in two separate environments, I can say these speakers deliver. If you're looking for a pair of monitors that can give you bass clarity and a flat response that can translate well, in one package as well, these will deliver! Easily the closest to giving you a 3 way monitor without the price. Now that's not to say you can expect these to be or sound like an ATC or PMC or even a Focal Trio. But, if you're looking for an affordable system that can give professional and reliable monitoring from 35 hz to 22k hz, these are the ones. Get used to its sound and you'll be rewarded with great translation and a monitor that can point out the issues in your mixes!

I used to have yamaha's for it flatness, changed to focal alpha 80 and not liked them so much i feel that they have to much bass and were not very clear on the mids so i sold them and Changed back to yamaha. Later when i saw that focal was trowing the alfa twin evo i ordered and waited for 3 moths to arrive. When they arrived i connected and sited on my studio and the moment i played some songs on them i was blown away. I leave the speaker 24 hours playing music so the cones have time to break in (the seller recommended). The next day when i played a song i was finishing mixing i truly feel the quality of focal and notice that my mix have a better translation now, noticed the mud in my mix and can hear a lot of details that with the Yamaha's you cant hear them, those speakers are amazing. Im using the 2 focal twins evo with the sub. The sub i feel that its the thing that makes the speaker sound 10/10 cutting those lows helps a lot with distortion on the speakers (im cutting at 80hz). I have used them a lot and there is not much ear fatigue with the twins evos. The twins on there own are perfect but the subs helps to give that extra kick. And for the price you cant go wrong. The sweet spot is huge, the bass is awesome, the mid are super clear and the hf are super. If you make you mix sound good on this monitors is going to sound good on everything…
Don’t guess , just buy.
This is not a gimmick. Focal did not only put together an affordable set of beautiful 2.5 way speakers . The sound punches way above their price point. I've owned the older alpha 80s, hs8s , focal cms50 and barefoot 01 footprint monitors. I currently own these and the presonus sceptres. I have been creating music for over 10 years independently and professionally.
These monitors are beautiful. Make sure to give them enough space apart. That's when the magic really happens. If you're wondering unlike the focal solo series ,You don't need a sub for the twin evos at all. These have the perfect balance of low, sound quality and flat response. I loved my barefoot 01s but I don't mix extensively enough to justify the price tag. But I still wanted a 3 way vibe but with a 2 Way price tag. These are not as 3D sounding as they are 2.5 way. But that's not a deal breaker because some speakers can sound too good on playback which sometimes can make it harder to translate your mix. These sounds smooth and honest. Give the speakers some time to burn in. Especially the tweeters. They can come off to crispy fresh out of the box but Play some of your favorite songs through them for a few days. Then one day your jaw is going to drop to the floor like mine did. Thanks focal! Job well done!
