Ovation Adamas 12-fret Non-Cutaway Mid-depth Acoustic-electric - Black Satin with Copper Metal Flake Reviews
Resonance is at the heart of great acoustic tone and performance. The Adamas 12-fret Non-cutaway Mid-depth acoustic-electric guitar from Ovation takes resonance to the next level with an ultra-thin carbon fiber top and mid-depth Lyrachord body. The design and materials of the Adamas work in tandem to deliver a truly resonant tone that is rich, full, and sustained. The Adamas carbon fiber top is further supported by Ovation’s Adamas X-bracing, enhancing both the resonance and durability of this unique instrument. The absence of the traditional Ovation cutaway also provides a nice boost in overall volume — a feature acoustic enthusiasts at Sweetwater love. The Adamas also offers ample stage-ready presentation via two gorgeous spalted maple multi-soundhole epaulets on its top. The flamed maple neck with stunning ebony fretboard joins the body at the 12th fret, offering a slightly shorter scale of 25.3 inches that fingerstyle players will fall in love with. An Ovation custom shop pickup with premium electronics translates all the stunning tone and resonance of the Adamas through your amp and PA of choice. Finally, a new Keyhole Bridge design means the strings slide into the bridge, creating more pressure on the genuine bone saddle and further enhancing tone and intonation.

Fantastic Guitar
Great sound, perfect craftsmanship, very light. No need to plug in, great either way, Highly recommended.
An amazing guitar
I bought this guitar from Sweetwater several years ago. My first guitar was a 1980 Ovation Legend (which I still have). The unplugged performance of the Adamas is simply superior in tone, sustain and projection to my Gibson J45 or the Cole Clark Fat Lady. The only negative, for me, is that there are no controls for the electronics- not even a volume control. I probably damaged it when I plugged it into a Fender Twin amp last year (I'm laughing now) but it wasn't funny when it happened. It almost jumped out of my grasp before I yanked the cord out. I recently purchased an acoustic amp and connected it - only to get a horrible hum. I replaced the electronics with an LR Baggs Element VTC and all is well. The wire on the Baggs control was just long enough to reach the largest, top sound hole but it's sounding pretty good through the new Fishman amp. If I had it to do over, I would have chosen another Adamas with controls for the preamp.
