VERY NICE AMP

This is just what I wanted, using it in my music room.
Couldn't be happier, no problems, Perfect little amp for my needs.

HAPPY camper

By Big Al from Seattle on July 8, 2019 Music Background: 57 years a professional musician

Extremely pleased with my new little acoustic amp. Always had problems at the gig with my acoustic guitar going directly into the PA. Using this acoustasonic 90 in between the guitar and the PA has made a world of difference, plus the app itself acts as a monitor for me for the guitar. Great bang for the buck.

Just what i wanted

By Shawn from Missouri on December 28, 2018

Great kind of old school look. So simple to use, has the effects that I use built in and gives a great true sound for my acoustic when I turn them off. Would recommend over similar priced amps with more unneeded bells and whistles. Josh Hacker answered all questions I had before purchase and once I plugged my guitar in, I was in heaven.

My new little buddy

By Mark from Pennsylvania on September 11, 2018 Music Background: Professional musician

I've been looking for an acoustic amp for sometime. Sweetwater is my go to place for gear and Greg and company didn't disappoint. Based on reviews and comparing different amps, I decided on the Fender Acoustasonic 90. I liked the effects it had to offer, the speaker and horn, plus I have a Fender Rumble Bass Amp I'm happy with I bought through Sweetwater. It arrived quick and was all boxed up nice and tight. This amp went beyond my expectations. It sounds great, not too heavy, and looks great as well. I'm going to have a cover made for it as I did with my Rumble.

Perfect little Buddy!

I've been looking for an acoustic amp for sometime now. I decided on this one because of the reviews and, I own the Fender Rumble Bass amp which I'm happy with. Anyway, I spent some time getting to know this amp and everything it has to offer. Many effects to choose from made this immediately appealing. It's plenty loud enough and the solid Fender construction reassures me I made the right choice.

Excellent Amp For Its Purpose

By Jamie Slate from Carolina and Virginia on December 3, 2017 Music Background: Songwriter, performer, 30+ years experience

This is an excellent amp for the solo artist playing coffee houses and what not. Light (as in very light) and capable to get you heard without that problematic distortion.

The effects (properly used) add a nice sound you can craft to fit your purpose, and you can use it as your acoustic monitor if you wish since it lines out.

I would not use it for an electric guitar (and have never tried) because... that is not its purpose.

Bottom line, if you are playing small venues where you are the background music, or small listening rooms where you are the focus (50-60 folk) this is the rig for you. I could not be more satisfied with this amp.

A great tool

The quality of the product is top notch but even more important it sounds great. I played an electric guitar and hooked up a mike in my studio and every one thought the vocals was coming from the studio monitors. It sounds that good. I had to prove to my friends that the pa was off. Again the unit itself is solid and it sound great.

EXCELLENT!

I had to wait several weeks as it was on back order but man, glad I waited, Amazing little amp with power and a sweet sound. Get the foot switch.First time I lifted up I thought they only sent the box-no guts! Played for a house of about 200, cranked about half and was heard. Haven't fooled too much with effects but in preview was impressed and defiantly will for chorus and guitar solos in songwriting gigs. f you get a chance try one out. If you can't find one just buy it-you won't regret.

Great Amp

By Stephen Cheek from Kosciusko, MS on October 30, 2014 Music Background: Professional muscian

Yes. I am blown away. I have been playing professionally for over 40 years as a lead guitarist and really never played my acoustics as much as I should (Guild D25 "84" and a Yamaha 500. Mainly , because they don't fit our show. Lately, I have had the urge to dive deeper into the acoustics, but never liked the amplified sound. I saw a Youtube demo describing how the acoustic amps were different than just an electric guitar amp. I did not know this.. I watched and studied the demos in every detail in respect as to what I thought I really needed to hear in the effects department, weight, size, and also the other options such as inputs, outputs, etc. The more I read the more i wanted to hear one of these amps.

Honestly, in the back of my mind, I felt that was going out on a limb, because I don't like buying stuff I don't use. However, I pressed forward and looked at every acoustic amp on the market for under $400. I actually made my mind up several times on different amps other than the Fender, but I would not buy. Something told me I was not ready. I just held on. I was really confused.

I use a "72" Pro-Reverb on stage and as far as I'm concerned there is not a better sound. So, with that in mind, I knew Fender and I knew Fender was going to do their homework on the Acoustic amp. Too, I knew the resale would be there if I didn't like it. I guess that was my final tilt toward the amp. I did have a budget, though. I wanted something under $400. We have a great PA so I figure if I did take it to the gig, I would mic it.

Finally, I said "enough". I called Sweetwater and they made me a deal. I ordered on the spot. When it came in I was still worried that I may have bought something that I could not noticeably hear.

Let me tell you. I was Blown away! I played for an hour before I took a break. The sound WAS different. Not in a little way but a BIG way. I am Big-time satisfied. Very!

So, acoustic players, if you are using an electric amp with an acoustic... stop now and buy a FENDER Acoustasonic. You will never regret it. Somehow I made the right decision.

Acoustasonic rocks!

By Michael Miller from Harborcreek PA on December 13, 2013 Music Background: Producer/Engineer/Musician

Yup ... I did it again. I was so impressed with the first amp, we went ahead and bought a second one. Who needs to haul around a mixer, speakers, and stands for an acoustic duo? Not us! Again, the Acoustasonic is powerful, comes with needed features and it sounds GREAT!

GREAT little amp!

By Michael Miller from Harborcreek, Pennsylvania on November 9, 2013 Music Background: Recording engineer, producer, semi-pro musician, radio personality

Used this tonight for the first time at a gig. Can't believe the sound quality! The Gibson J45 sounded very natural, and the vocal was loud, clean and clear. The effect used tonight was a slight delay on the vocal and it sounded great. Lots of useful features and the clincher .... 18lbs is all it weighs! I may just sell my Genz Benz and buy another one of these for when I'm doing a duo with my wife.

Fender Acoustasonic 90

By Del from Mandan, ND on May 15, 2019 Music Background: Experienced

Pros - Vocals and acoustic guitar sound great through this amplifier. light weight, multiple effects available, phantom power for condenser microphones, line output for connection to PA, Aux input that you can use for backing tracks, individual effects for each channel, antifeedback system on both inputs that seems to work very well in my testing.

Cons - No volume control on Aux input, No headphone jack, limited effects adjustment, (You have to chose whatever is closest to what you want then adjust the amount of the effect applied to that channel), user manual is sparse with a total of two pages of pertinent infomation and the Fender marketing videos are pathetic when it comes to showing the features of this amplifier.

Other reviews have mentioned low output power of this amp and I believe it is related to how hard the inputs are driven. I connected a condenser microphone instead of my Shure 57 dynamic and noticed the volume on my vocals went up considerably. I slid the acoustic/electric guitar output control to about 3/4 of max instead of 1/2 where I normally run it and that really made a difference in the output power of the amplifier. I set this up in a 35X25 foot fully furnished room with furniture and carpeting and it filled the room nicely without going past about the 10:00 position on the amplifier's volume controls. Also tested the aux input by running a backing track then singing and playing along with it. Connected the line output to my PA system line in, and that worked perfectly. As a further test I connected a Fender Strat guitar running through a Digitech 500 multi-effects pedal to the instrument input and that worked fine with plenty of volume coming out of the Acoustasonic 90 with no PA connection. It seems to me this amp puts out OK as long as you drive the inputs with enough juice.

Conclusion: My goal in buying this amplifier was to have something easy to transport for the types of gigs I usually do in parks and small halls where this will be my only amplification. It appears from my tests that this amplifier will work for me.

Great Amp

By Mike from Maine on February 12, 2019 Music Background: Hobbiest

This is a GREAT amp for the money, I have played other acoustic amps and found them to sound small and clunky, but this amp makes my acoustic and Jazz guitars sound like they should, It is quite, no hiss or buzz, it truly brings out the sound of my guitars. I am very pleased and somewhat surprised. If you need to play a big room, you may need to plug it into the PA, but for a smaller venue it is the amp you need. The effects are very good, and even singing through this amp is quit good, what I like the most is the weight, 17 pounds, no more lugging a lot of gear to play out. I would have given it 5 stars but, that would have made it perfect, and there is no such thing in the music would, that is why they make so many different amps and guitars. But for my money this amp is a GREAT ONE.

Great Amp

By Dave on December 19, 2015 Music Background: Teen band and weekend player for years. Just started up another band for snowbird entertainment.

This is a very convenient and portable amp for the money. Having 2 separately controlled inputs is hard to find and the effects are a bonus. I pack this from Canada to California for my winter vacation and did not want anything to cumbersome and this fits my need perfectly. Would definitely recommend this amp for anyone looking for a few bells and whistles at an affordable price.

fender acoustasonic 90

By Sweetwater Customer on December 24, 2019

Great little practice amp for my acoustic guitar and keyboard. Worked like a charm right out of the box. I also like the effects. They're easy to play with, set, and blend. Haven't quite figured out the feedback phase yet.

Good to Go!

By Brent from H. on July 12, 2016

Guitar side: sounds clear, tone controls are useful with the mid section, plenty of volume with feedback control (nice!), professional effect quality.
Mic side: needs mid controls but able to get a satisfactory tone. Feedback control & effects are great, plenty of volume.
Very-Light weight unit!

Good Amp But Not Very Powerful

By Sweetwater Customer on April 28, 2018 Music Background: Hobbyist Musician for over 55 years

I bought this to downsize my One Man Band" act. I play electric guitar (Flying V), Vocals, and backing tracks using a Boss Jamstation. With this amp I run the vocal through the vocal channel, the guitar through the instrument channel (with a multi-effects pedal), and the Jamstation through the aux input.

Overall the sound is very good. The vocals are rich and full. The guitar sounds pretty good, using the effects pedal to tailor the sound. The backing tracks also sound good, with the 8" speaker providing a surprising amount of bass. This amp is very light weight and easy to carry.

The only thing wrong with this is a serious lack of volume. I thought mine was defective, but checking out others in a music store showed that this is the way these amps are. I have smaller 40 watt amps that put out a lot more (I tried the Acoustasonic 40 and it is much louder than the 90). I can compensate for this by hooking up a powered speaker to the DI output, but that defeats the purpose of having an easy to setup package.

Not sure if I will keep mine - time will tell.

Ok for the price, BUT....

By Greg Nelson from Northport, Al. on May 21, 2019 Music Background: Amateur songwriter

For the price, and for practice around the house, not bad...but this is NOT a amp i would put on a stage, even in a coffeehouse.
The sound is thin, twangy, and almost a "plastic-like" quality...
I've since played through a marshall AS100D, and thats the route im taking, come payday.

Too twangy

By Sweetwater Customer on July 18, 2017

There is not really much to this ... I firmly believe a regular loud speaker sounds nicer and truer to the acoustic

Not for me

By Sweetwater Customer on May 2, 2016 Music Background: 45 years playing and performing professionally in acoustic and electric bands

I needed and amp I could put my acoustic and electric through. Got this amp because I though..." It's a fender I can't go wrong right?"
I played every guitar I own through and couldn't get anything that didn't sound badly processed. We ran the gauntlet... Larrivee, Gretsch, Yamaha, Guild, Washburn and then onto electric Fender Strat, Tele, Gibson, Godin, Gretsch, Epiphone....

Nothing sounded good to me. Nice build, light weight but the modeling is just to harsh for me.

I'm going to ditch it and go back to Roland

DSP = A change for the worse

By Sweetwater Customer from Orlando FL on September 14, 2015 Music Background: Semi Pro

I love the Fender brand but this is a dud for me. I played the older model acoustasonic that was provided me in an orchestra setting and I loved it. Earlier this year based on that experience, I purchased the new Acoustasonic 90 and I just could not get it to make a decent sound with my acoustic guitar. This is the same Gibson songwriter that I had used the older model acoustasonic with. The 90 was not event just ok, the vox were fine but it has to do the guitar first for me. I had convinced the other guitarist in my project to get one too and he got the Acoustisonic 150. Two speakers did not make a difference. We both returned the Acoustasonics. My conclusion is the "DSP" efforts are an epic fail. This thing puts out a total digitally processed sound all right. I spent a few dollars more and went with Fishman and that is what I would recommend to anyone. Save your pennies and get into the Fishman. Don't take my word for it try them side by side with your guitar.
