Elixir Strings 11050 Polyweb 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - .012-.053 Light Reviews

.012-.053 Polyweb Light Gauge Acoustic Guitar Strings

Elixir Strings with the Polyweb coating have the warm tone and smooth action of non-coated strings, yet they feel like softer to the touch. The ultra-thin Polyweb coating keeps these strings sounding fresh and new for a lot longer than conventional strings. The Polyweb coating cuts down on finger squeak while reducing the bite of the strings on your fingers. They have a mellow and warm tone, and maintain their original sound and feel longer than most strings.

Elixir Polyweb

By Brandon Mobley from Texas on August 22, 2022 Music Background: Long time hobbyist

These are hands down the best acoustic strings I've ever played. I can barely put my acoustic down since stringing them up with these. I've been telling all of my friends about them. Strung up my Alvarez folk single cutaway with these and was instantly blown away by the warmth and clarity. Great volume, all in the power of your hands. Will soon be stringing up my $15 garage sale First Act travel beater with these.

My true string

By Tidus from Chapman on May 11, 2022 Music Background: Worship for church

Finally found the right string and the right gauge. The tone is great with a warm bright tone. I've spent so much time trying different strings and realized this is the one for me. Elixir Polywebs!

The Tone of "There" That Lasts

By Stephen Jackson from New Jersey on October 8, 2019

The heavier coating on the Polywebs that I was not supposed to like? Warmer, played in 80/20s from the gate, but with much better clarity/depth than simply a set of "dull" 80/20s that still play in tune. Count me a convert after proclaiming myself an uncoated 80/20s purist!

Let me state here briefly: I have tried Nanowebs in the past, 80/20 Nanos and PB Nanos. I prefer the Polywebs.

Along side their offering much less finger squeak, I can see why that sound of "there" almost right after you slap them on (plus their longevity) make Elixir Polywebs popular in the studio, not just on stage, but with session guitarists/an Elixir artist like Tom Strahle. I like the feel of these Polywebs and the way they sound. Period. I'm not chasing fleeting nuances with these strings over the lifespan of a set of string but "really really good" from the beginning and with a pretty long level of tonal quality throughout. They hold together chordally for rhythm play and also provide great single note tone played with a pick or fingerstyle.

I needed 80/20s feel but "played in" and warm at the start with the tone of "there" that lasts. Elixir Polywebs!

Great Strings

By Jeff from Kernersville, NC on December 6, 2017

I use these on my Taylor 410CE. They sound amazing and they really do last. I even put a set on a piece of junk acoustic that I use just to goofing around. These strings even made it sound decent. I have used many different brands and flavors of strings over the years. These are by far the best I have tried.

Bye-bye finger squeak!

By Tom from Fairfield, IA on November 25, 2016

I like both the Nano- and Poly-coated Elixir strings, but the thing I particularly like about the Polyweb strings is the reduced finger noise when you slide your fingers up and down the strings. Apparently the thicker coating fills in some of the space between windings on the wound strings, and this greatly reduces annoying finger squeak. Some people have the opinion that this coating reduces the brightness of the strings. Although I have not done a comparison of both types of new strings on identical instruments, to me, these strings sound fantastic. I've tried both types, and I think the Polyweb strings sound wonderful, and the reduced finger noise is the reason I prefer them.

I use only Elixir strings because they sound great and keep sounding great many times longer than other strings I've used. I play acoustic guitar about 5 hours a week, and I use a set of strings for about 3 months before changing them. After 3 months, they still sound good, but a new set sounds better. Concerned about the price? I get over 60 hours of playing from a set, so the cost per hour is trivial. I know some people use them much longer than I do. I used one set for a year, and I still thought the guitar (a great guitar, by the way) sounded good. Changing them every 3 months feels like a luxury I can happily afford.

People tend to hear what they expect to hear. I suggest trying these strings with an open mind. I think you'll like the way they sound very much.

Can't make them wear out!

By Carter Porter from Springfield, Mo on February 23, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist, worship leader fill-in/helper.

I have had a set of these on my J-35 for 6 months now. I can't wear them out. I play on average about 30-45 minutes a day. The polyweb coating isn't peeling like the other coatings do, the tone has not changed at all. I used to go through a set of strings every 2-3 weeks until I found these. No deadened tone, no peeling at all, and no breaks. Have a friend that has the electric guitar version and he is going on over 10 (yes, TEN) years on these strings without a single change or broken string. Amazing product.

Very Good Product

By Sweetwater Customer from Alabama on July 9, 2013 Music Background: Semi Pro

Since my first pack of Elixir not long after they were invented I've used no other. For years I had to change out other brands after just four hours of use (one gig) due to I guess me having high acidity that simply crusted over the strings with corrosion. Not Elixir. They also can be cleaned up a bit after months of use and return the ring. I've tried other brands of coated strings but they just don't seem to have the sound and lasting power of Elixirs.

Awesome!

Beautiful product, came as promised and shipping was prompt! I only order elixir strings for my guitar. Customer service was wonderful, they even called to confirm the order. Thanks Sweetwater, I will be ordering from you all again soon!

love these strings

By Ron from Hico on July 28, 2022 Music Background: Just for fun.

I've been using these strings for some time now. Every set I have used looked good, felt good, sounded good, and played good,,, except for this last set I bought. I thought they looked a little old when I took them outta the package. Put them on anyway. Well, they were not crisp like before, and will NOT stay in tune. Guess ya get a lemon in just about everything, I just hate I paid fifteen bucks for these lemons. But, I will pay that for another set. Hope they are good.

pretty good

By Sweetwater Customer on October 6, 2014

visible coating, but it does temper the bright sound, which i like. I'm happy with this purchase.

Heard they were good, maybe I got a bad batch

By Dean from Naples Fl on May 30, 2016 Music Background: Acoustic/classic rock/ play out 1-2x mo

Read alot about the durability of these strings, ordered a box and went through 3 packs on my first stringing. The b string broke 3 times without much tension. I've been playing for 30 years and this is the first time I've ever broken the same string 3 times when re-string I got my guitar. Have to say these were. Add with a poor grade of steel. Going back to my old staple....EXP 16
