Elixir Strings 11052 Nanoweb 80/20 Acoustic Guitar Strings - .012-.053 Light Reviews

.012-.053 Nanoweb Light Gauge Acoustic Guitar Strings

Elixir Acoustic Nanoweb strings don't just sound great, their micro-thin coating keeps them sounding better for a lot longer than average strings. If you want to keep your guitar tone consistently great day in and day out, put on a set of Elixir Acoustic Nanoweb strings. Their coating actually cuts down on unnecessary finger friction. You'll be amazed at how long they last! Fewer string changes means having to buy strings less often.

Excellent customer service!

By Dennis Schumaker from SUMMERFIELD, NC on January 5, 2024

I recently ordered these guitar strings. The package was opened when I received it. I called Chris Shura who quickly sent me a replacement set of strings.
I am pleased and impressed with Chris's and Sweetwater's dedication to customer satisfaction. I will definitely be making my future purchases from them.

Elixir!

By Tidus Chapman from Pottersville, NY on September 20, 2022

I gotta be honest, but I've done the nanowebs for ages until I found the polywebs. Sounded similar except they went mellow way faster than the nanowebs. About a month with the Polys on my guitar, the tone was about gone and they were corroded and ripped up. I hear they were supposed toast longer than the nanowebs but ill be honest I've had the nanos on for 4 years and they weren't even close to be changed. Plus I really miss the nano sound because they sounded more vibrant, detailed and active. Ill be going back to these again praise God!

Excellent!

By Sweetwater Customer on August 14, 2022

I can wear out and corrode plain strings in two days...these last me 3 months solid...I could get even more but I like to change them every three months.

Whoa! They last a long time!

These strings shipped on a Yamaha Parlor guitar I bought 18 months ago. I've been playing my resonators exclusively for over a year. I just got around to playing my parlor again and the strings are still bright, fresh and in tune. Amazing.

Far Less String Squeak

By Bill from North California on April 17, 2020

Whilst using another brand of "treated" strings, I had excessive string squeak with my acoustic-electric guitar (admittedly, much of the noise indicates that my playing technique needs improvement). The squeaking was especially annoying when I plugged in to play or record. Now that I have switched to Elixer Nanoweb phosphor-bronse strings, the squeaking has been significantly reduced. Elixir strings have made me a very happy player.

I’ve had dozens of different guitars over the past 58 years and I love Elixir strings! The Nanoweb 80/20 strings are my go-to strings on higher end acoustic guitars with solid Rosewood back and sides! Nothing I’ve tried sounds even close!

Elixir Strings Nanoweb 80/20 Acoustic Guitar Strings .012-.053 Light

By JoeH from New England on March 19, 2019 Music Background: Professional

I got the stock strings on my new Guild F-250CE from Sweetwater which are Daddarios.

Based on a previous review here, I purchased these and I am definitely blown away !

I did watch the 2 informative videos in this product description and that helped influence my decision also.

Great product that I did not mind paying a little bit more for and I am also going to try the acoustic polys and probably the electric guitar strings by Elixer for my Guild guitar.

Elixir!

Christmas gift

By Rosemary Chandler from WA on December 12, 2017 Music Background: None

Order arrived in plenty of time for Christmas and my husband couldn't tell who the package was from, so he had no idea what was inside. Also, received an e-mail thanking me for the order and he realized it was for a present so he didn't call. I'm so thankful for that ! Great company to order from. What a pleasure!

strings

By John Hiscock from Halifax Nova Scotia Canada on March 23, 2017

I've been playing guitar for 60 years and have probably used just about every string on the market but I have to say that the Elixer nanoweb is the best I've used in every regard.. I have them on my five guitars and although they are more expensive I wouldn't use anything else.

great strings

By Rob on March 6, 2017 Music Background: professional

There is no substitute. Anyone out there that is a "string destroyer" due to the ph level on your fingers, like me, these strings are for you. I play 21 sets a week on my acoustic roughly totally 24 hours of play time, and I only have to change my strings once a week. The tone is great, the feel is great, anyone who says otherwise is crazy.

Great strings

By Jeffry Siewert from Kernersville, NC on September 16, 2015

I have tried many brands and types of strings over the years and have found these to be the best I have used. They last longer than many other strings I have tried. The tone stays consistent for a long time. They are worth every penny!

Still Looking but can't find anything better

By Bilmo from Lumberton NJ on February 26, 2015 Music Background: hobbyist

I put these Elixir strings on my Martin ever other stringing. I like to try new strings in between. There are other strings out there that are brighter out of the box but for longevity and still getting a nice rich bass and mid Martin is known for I go with the Elixir Nanoweb even over the Martin Lifespan. I prefer the Martin light bronze over the lifespan actually. Pay twice the price and get three times the playability.

Great Strings!

These are my favorite acoustic strings. I love them and use them on all of my acoustics. Great tone and quality!

Nice strings

By Bill from Columbus, OH on November 30, 2022 Music Background: novice

I'm a novice guitar player and up to this point had been using the OEM strings on my Seagull S6. Those strings weren't awful but they wandered a bit around a note and at times could be a little harsh. No doubt, my inexperience didn't help.

After installing a set of Elixir 11052's, it's like I am now hearing my guitar for the first time. The strings sounded good when first installed but have improved over a few days after stretching and settling in. It was a pretty nice improvement for such a modest investment.

IIRC Sweetwater recommended these strings to me. Kudos for a solid recommendation.

Elixer

By Bone Lee Hot Sauce from Islamorada, Florida on December 5, 2017 Music Background: singer/songwriter

I bought some Elixer strings to put on my acoustic/electric guitar for my outdoor shows in Islamorada... Lots of humidity in the Florida Keys, so I use the nanoweb... 3 packs last me about 9 weeks or so... I play full step down, DADGAD, drop D(C), open E and the Elixers handle the multiple tunings really well...

Bright, High Quality

By Johnny from Indiana on September 3, 2017 Music Background: 35+ Years of Guitar Playing

These are professional grade quality strings. They really sound nice on my Taylor. Very bright, high quality sound. I recommend them if you don't mind paying a little extra. But, you tend to get what you pay for in guitar strings.

They Last Longer!

By Mikey Brown from San Jose, California on June 29, 2013 Music Background: Pro Musician

These strings are awesome. Before, I was using GHS Light Phosphor Bronze. My friend used GHS Light 80/20 Bronze, and they sounded way brighter than my guitar did. So, I read some reviews on Elixir Strings, and decided to try them myself. I went to the store, picked up a pack of these, and slapped them onto my guitar a couple of days later. They sound fantastic! Now let me tell you, I own an old Yamaha. Just a couple of years old. It's very crappy, has the worst pickup ever, and just doesn't sound good at all, especially plugged-in. But from reverting from GHS to these Elixirs, I have fallen in love with a new set of strings. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is because it tends to kind of tear after a while. Not while the strings are still good, but when the strings start to die. I have had them on for almost four months now, and by the third month, I started seeing little hair-like things sticking out from the strings, but I don't think that will effect the sound of the guitar in any way. These strings are especially spectacular for recording. If you're looking for that big brightness, fullness, and enthusiasm, give these strings a try.

Great strings

By curtis from Texas on March 19, 2013 Music Background: songwriter, engineer

I love these strings. Especially if you have a Taylor because these are the strings that they currently use in manufacturing. They're more expensive but yes, they actually last 2 or 3 times as long as other strings I've used. They stay in tune well and have a bright yet full tone. Recommended.

Elixar Accoustic .012 -.053

By Alexis Krysyna from CA on April 9, 2019 Music Background: Coastline Studios

I use these things on and off for four years. Being a studio musician I still found that you can hear the tapping of the finger on the strings so that's why I you silk strings. Since elixir doesn't make them I discontinued use but if I were to go back to solid metal strings I prefer them

They DO Last Longer

By Jay Tea from Elkhart, IN on April 1, 2019 Music Background: Miscellaneous Moron

Great strings for a beginner with no calluses. There is a trade off with a very slight reduction in range and sustain, but most people won't hear the difference. They do have a life of about 60-70 hours where a standard string will last me about 40 hours. The coating gets annoying when it starts to peel.

Great Strings

By CG from Pierce on December 13, 2017

I've been using Elixir strings for a couple decades now on my acoustics, and vary brands quite often, usually the others come off well before they wear out so I can get the Elixir's back on the guitar.

3 Months till the coating came off

By Cody Crawford from Salem Oregon, Oregon State Hospital on November 24, 2015 Music Background: Lead singer/ Guitar of the OSH patient Band/ solo act and harmonicas too!

I am rough on my acoustic, beat the **** out of it. These strings are my favorite for jamming.

*Minimal finger noise
*Great tone
*Last maybe 2-3 times longer

-Not really as good as advertised ,or the electric ones. I love the nano web electric strings
-Cost
-The coating on my a and d string started to come off from the 1'st fret to the 4'th/ and I play without rings or slides.

Would I buy these again?
+Yes; the reasons are numerous, including the minimal wear and tear on my frets because the coating is not metal. I was having major fret wear before I switched to these strings. I am satisfied.

They certainly are bright

By Sweetwater Customer on July 7, 2023

I can't hate these strings too much, because they are just as they say: "Bright". Unfortunately they don't have much else going for them besides being loud. They don't have any soul, and my guitar lost a lot of its body with these strings. I'm admittedly a very new guitarist, I play a Recording King Dirty 30, but I honestly preferred the factory strings I just removed...

I guess I'm just a bit disappointed because these strings are raved about online, and are quite pricy for a basic set of strings. Perhaps some of the other Elixir strings are a bit warmer and soulful. I'll definitely be trying something else right away as I really just don't dig the sound these strings have.

On a positive note, the coating makes the strings feel nice against my still not quite callused fingertips. The strings I was using were quite rough feeling, and oxidized very quickly even after a couple days of not being played. These strings thankfully feel a lot smoother and are honestly very nice to play with, it's unfortunate the sound doesn't stack up as well.

I don't see (hear/feel) it.

By Dennis O. Wasnich from Montpelier, OH on January 11, 2015 Music Background: Hobbyist

I've only experienced Elixirs because they came on 4 different Taylor guitars I purchased and in all 4 cases I was not happy with the sound of the guitar until I took off the Elixir strings and replaced with D'Addarios. In one case, the coating came off the Elixirs under pick contact in a short period of time and they looked "Fuzzy" as well as sounded bad and felt bad. They discolor quickly and just don't feel right under my left hand fingers.
The Taylor guitars' only "bad rap" that I've seen is that some people think they sound toneless and overly bright which is exactly what I didn't like about the Elixirs and was immediately cured on the Taylors with the D'Addarios. So in my opinion the knock on Taylors is 100% a knock on Elixir strings.
I know most people love these strings, but I don't think they sound good, feel good, look good, or last longer (or even as long!) as a decent set of regular strings at half the price and less.

Not as expected... on THIS Guitar

By David from Japan on January 31, 2013 Music Background: Hobbyist

I'm not an accomplished player- and usually don't go nuts over what strings I'm playing. I've used Martin strings for years just because they sounded good. Never done much comparison. I bought these earlier to put on my Ovation Balladier because my acid hands were just killing strings to quickly. On the Ovation, the strings sounded great and intoned well (as well as a 25+ year old Ovation can?). I was very pleased with them and reviewed them with 5 stars.

Fast forward to now- I put a set on my Wechter Pathmaker (awesome guitar) and they sounded like wet noodles. They sound like new strings that somebody rubbed down with glue or something. Absolutely unacceptable... took them off immediately. Again, I'm not a player who needs to hear every subtle nuance and these sounded bad to even my ear.

My advice would be this- don't be afraid to experiment with these but be prepared for them to sound totally different on different guitars. But for me- when they sound this bad on one guitar I can't help but think they're holding down my Ovation that's just got the boom to overcome it. I'll probably just go back to playing Martins on everything.
