Fuzz Pedal with 3 Voicings, 2-band EQ, and Highpass Tropical Mode - Black and White

Inspired by the fuzzy, buzzy tones of Brazil’s late-1960s Tropicália craze, the Beetronics FX Abelha Tropical Fuzz pedal twists and tweaks the sputtering sounds of the past into a remarkably versatile do-it-all stompbox. The Abelha (Portuguese for bee) starts with a 3-way voicing switch that swerves between battery-starved germanium madness, massive-sounding walls of full-bodied fuzz, and a sweeter, more controllable fuzz tonality. Fuzz aficionados of all stripes will feel right at home with the Abelha’s straightforward control scheme, consisting of a fuzz knob (Buzz), volume (Loud), and a Hi/Lo 2-band EQ for intuitive tone sculpting. Lastly, to precisely replicate the treble-heavy fuzz sounds of Tropicália, the Abelha features a stinging momentary/latching highpass filter. It’s a true passion project for Beetronics FX founder Filipe Pampuri, blending his love of fuzz, obsession with bees, and Brazilian heritage into an idiosyncratic stompbox creation that buzzes from Tropicália’s psychedelic past into the boundless future of fuzz.

Sounds Great and Has Several Options

By Joseph M. from Omaha, NE

Personally I like all the sounds that come from this pedal. There are Six different modes to choose from. Also the pedal look amazing.

Outstanding attention to detail.

Music Background: Guitar player and noise artist

I bought this based on some video demos and lots of positive word-of-mouth about Beetronics' quality. This is a unique fuzz pedal capable of a surprising array of sounds. I bought it to use with guitar, synths and noise devices. It excels (for my purposes) on all of them. It offers a lot for harsh noise applications and I got some gnarly sounds running various synths into the Abelha, then into EQD's Blumes bass OD. The sputtery chaotic short decay fuzz setting is my favorite, but it isn't a one trick pony. It can be tamed as well, offering more traditional fuzz and distortion. Sound quality is highly subjective. Not everybody will love it. But I like pretty much every sound I've coaxed out of it. Watch some demos to see if it's right for you.

Beetronics nailed the build, the gorgeous color-morphing LEDs, the laser cut embellishments. Quality is top notch. The switching is customizable and quiet. The momentary function is nice and switching between the voicing is smooth. It's much lighter weight than I expected considering the abnormally large size (which may be a deal breaker for some). It's a bit expensive for a fuzz, but the Abelha is a functional work of art. It's definitely unique. I like the top mounted jacks and all knobs and controls are super smooth and precise. It was built by people who care about their product. Even the packaging is impressive, gold embossed print on a sturdy black box, it came wrapped in Beetronics paper and included a logo guitar pick, decals and a clearly written card explaining the features. I'm happy with it and I look forward to seeing what these guys do in the future.
