20% Heavier Than Standard Ambassadors

Heavy hitters who swear by the tone and response of Coated Ambassadors will find their match in Remo Ambassador X drumheads. These heads are made from a single ply of 12-mil film, compared to the standard 10-mil Ambassador. This 20% increase in thickness yields increased durability, a slightly drier and darker tone, and increased attack and projection. All with the warmth, sustain, snap, and sensitivity you count on from your Ambassadors. Experience a new take on your old standbys with Remo Ambassador X drumheads.

Perfection

By far my favorite head for my 6.5x14 Black Beauty. Really wakes the drum up, it sings now. Still has great single ply sensitivity but with a meatier sound and a vicious attack. I'm also noticing a more crisp articulation from my wires. I can set them a little looser without sounding swishy. I've tried a bunch of different heads to see what I like best, and finally this is the one that gave the "aha!" moment

Such a great head

Using on a 13x3 steel piccolo.
Really opened it up.
I have a 14x5 black nickel over steel gretsch I will try next with this head.
Has a better beefy sound than normal ambassador.
And cross sticking is louder (at least in my mixes).
I really like this head.

Perfect for specific uses

I ordered this to replace an Aquarian American Vintage on one of my snare drums and the improvement over the Aquarian (for the specific snare drum) is dramatic. I put it on a 4.5x14 snare drum with a steambent mahogany shell and it went from a gazillion over- and under-tones to a solid backbeat machine.

The coating on the X seems thicker and rougher than normal Ambassadors, so it will need serious breaking in for brush playing.

Back to the Aquarian: for brushwork that head is second only to real calf in my opinion. For sticks, though, it is, well, plastic sounding and nowhere near as warm as an Ambassador. I will hang on to it because although I am no longer gigging regularly, I still occasionally have brush only gigs and that head is perfect for those.

For the pop/classic rock and smattering of old country that I still play the X, on the drum where it's currently mounted, is exactly what I was hoping it would be.

Snare head perfection

Truly the perfect snare head! This is the real X factor: Everything you love about the coated Amb - sensitive, responsive, snappy, great feel - PLUS a nice dose of fat, meaty thwack. Picture a coated Ambassador with a dampener on it but NOT dampened, just fattened up. That's the Ambassador X. I like the beefy, low-end enhanced sound of a dampened head, but I also like to hear the shell of a snare drum (otherwise why have different shell materials?) - that's what this head does so well. Same responsive head, acts like a single ply (cuz it is) but brings the deep mids and lows of a 2-ply head. Perfect for a big fat snare sound, or for a little more meat in your toms. Even if youre that guy who MUST have coated Amb's for batters, you'd love these. Use them for resos even, a slightly heavier reso makes for a nice full sound. Try one out, it'll be love at first wack.

Remo Ambassador X

This may be THE best sounding snare head I've ever played. Better than the Emperor X & even better than the Controlled Sound X. This is right up there with the Remo P77 for me. I cannot believe how insane this thing sounds. I wish I was able to describe it, but all I can tell you is that it's pure music to the ears.
