A step Up

By Michael J. from NJ
Music Background: Drummer

I have the Shure 215 prior to these and was quite content with them. Being a drummer though I did have a hard time keeping them in my ears.

The ATH-370 was a great fit that stays in my ear. The sound is much better and more full range to what comes from my mixer. This is a nice step in the meddle before going custom which I am a bit aways from. These will not disappoint for the price.

Shure SE215 Upgrade

By Jeff E. from WY
Music Background: Rock Vocalist/Guitarist/Keyboardist

Bought these to upgrade from the Shure SE215's that came with my wireless PEM system. I'm a vocalist that plays keys/guitar so those are what's important for me to hear. I like these units but because they do have better mids/lows I had to re-eq my mix and am still working on it a bit to hear things the way I like. They are definitely a more well rounded representation of the overall sound with solid lows/mids/highs and happy I upgraded.

Now this is what I really wanted!

By MLA from MA

I always have used high end over the ear open back and closed back headphones. For travel and convenience, I have been in the market for a higher end IEM for some monitoring and some everyday day use. I also play a variety of keyboards and synths. I was fortunate enough to use/demo the Shure SE535 for a few days. I really like the detail and resolution. The sound great with out a doubt. But I found something just slightly thin in the sound and could not justify the purchase. My opinion only - yours may vary. I just wast ready to spend $ on IEM that I was not in love with. I checked a bunch of online reviews and and asked a few of my professional-sound friends and got a bit overwhelmed with all the opinions and reviews. Called Sweetwater and mentioned what I was in the market for and they suggested a few IEMs that might be a good fit for my requirements. The ATH-E70 sounded like it made the most sense and less than the SE535. I bought them without demoing and an open mind and limited expectations. I have them for now for approximately a month and used them for recording playback, keyboards, and everyday use. Bottom line--- I absolutely love them. They sound fantastic for all my needs. Im not a pro sound guy but I know what I like. These seem to have a much fully sound stage and presence with plenty of accurate detail - maybe even more than needed. The best way I can describe the sound compared to the Shure SE535 is that the sound seems a bit richer than the slightly thinner sound on the 535s. Maybe the E70 is slightly colored or warmer, but if so it is perfectly done. Truly a listening pleasure with phenomenal detail in all highs, mids, and lows. Bass lovers will be pleased if that's your thing. Yet very detailed bass with no muddiness or boom whatsoever. Drums, bass and percussion seem to shine in the E70. Lastly, the are very comfortable fit for me for hours without fatigue in wear or sound and the overall quality of these IEMs are beautifully crafted and rock solid. I am so thrilled with this purchase and enjoy these everyday more than expected that I had to write a (average guys's) review. I highly recommend to try or even buy.

Great IEM's

By Fred from Baltimore, MD
Music Background: Musician/Producer/Engineer

I really like my ATH-E70's. I chose these over the Shure SE535's. The 3 balanced armatures give the mix a lot of depth and clarity. Also, you'll pay $100 less for these as compared to the 535's with 3 drivers. These are fairly new to the market so I took a chance. They've gotten really good reviews on other sites and I'm happy. I am a keyboardist and other synth players really enjoy these. I also use them when playing bass and they lack nothing. Give 'em a try!
