This is my 2nd cartridge as the first stylus broke after 3 years - assuming people not being careful with it. I think for the price this is a good option for my vintage Technics SL-D2 turntable.

I realize there are more expensive cartridges out there, but this is a solid old school type that works very well. It needed a bit more weight on my tone arm than the included paper suggested, but this is a very light cartridge holder. Max suggested: 2.2, my setting 2.4. And everything sounds great, no complaints. Records are a great experience; buy some records or find a good used record store, sort your turntable and have some fun!

I bought the new head shell along with this cartridge and withing 20 minutes I was spinning vinyl.
The sound enhancement was incredible !
Do your system a favor and upgrade your cartridge.

I have a 42-year old Technics SL-3350 turntable for which I needed a new cartridge with an eliptical stylus. I found the AT-VM95e cartridge on the Sweetwater website and contacted Sweetwater as to whether this would work on my turntable. I received a prompt response that it would and after ordering it I received it in just a few days. I installed it and it works great! I am pleased to have been able to resurrect my system and enjoy my album collection again.

I recently received this cartridge in the mail along with an Ortofon headshell. This was one of the easiest carts I have ever mounted to a headshell because of the "threaded" inserts in the top of the cartridge. I didn't have to fiddle with the usual small mounting nuts that most other carts require. It just took a few minutes to align the cartridge and dial-in everything on my turntable before I did my first listening. The first record I played sounded "okay", but I wasn't immediately happy with imaging/ stereo separation. The cart sounded warm but not with the same high frequency presence of my other AT carts. I did notice that the bass is very controlled and tight which, to me, is to my liking. By the time I had put about 10 hours on this things really started to "open up". I like how the highs are present without any sibilance and aren't overexaggerated or harsh. Vocals sound very natural. Bass is really fantastic. Stereo separation is quite good but not as wide as some of my other carts BUT they are more expensive. I am very pleased with this. It does a great job at tracking (set at 2 grams) and background/surface noise is very quiet- more so then a lot of carts in this price range. I will definitely buy the MicroLine stylus for this when budget permits. I imagine this will become one of my favorite cartridges with that upgrade. This is a fantastic cartridge at it's price point. Audio-Technica never dissapoints.
