Everything I hoped it would be

By Ryan Grandmaison from East Brookfield, MA on August 16, 2023 Music Background: Former rock / folk preformer / living room couch guitar hero

The guitar is flawless and just awesome. I choose the shadow burst and it's looks good Not as nice as the American version burst but it still looks great. Just the right amount of features for me. I was able to set my action with just a 8th of a turn on the truss and a quarter turn on the pitch screw. The action is now 5/64th and 3/64th just like my electrics. Not a buzz to be heard, and it plays amazing. Love this thing
Sweetwater/FedEx had it at my door two days after I ordered it, which was fast!
Thanks Sweetwater!

Rider 007

I'm still a working musician at the age of 78. Carpal tunnel surgery, severe arthritis in joints and body stiffness and pain. . I was about to retire from playing. Then I read about the new acoustasonic players and ended up getting a telecaster sunburst player. The best thing I ever did. Very light and easy on the shoulders and back. The bevel on the body lets me rest my elbow for shoulder relief. The neck is great and easy to play. Easy to finger chords and my left hand doesn't get tired. I have good acoustic guitars but I've put them all away. I will now be playing my new guitar until I retire. I recommend you try this guitar. You won't be sorry. It does a little bit of everything. I mainly us the the acoustic features….the best

Versatile Guitar

By John Buttrey from Anaheim, CA on November 17, 2022

I am writing this review after two weeks of receiving it. The build quality is outstanding. Nicely padded gig bag. It even came with a simple humidity system. After experimenting when the two acoustic voices, I have found the best results come when played into an acoustic amp, with the guitar's volume knob about half way. If you drive the volume up too high, you lose some of the acoustic character you're probably after, but to each his own.

I really wish these guitars came with a neck pickup. I have never been a fan of bridge pickups. The tele pickup is bright. I toned it down with eq but it still cuts through. Through my Boss Katana's acoustic channel, I can get some very pleasing acoustic tones. I have also tried it though a PodGo. There are no acoustic amps in the PodGo. I ran it through a Fender Deluxe clean amp model, I got some fairly good results. To really round it off I needed an acoustic sim pedal. I need to get some acoustic IRs for the PodGo. I did acoustic and electric presets right next to each other. I can easily go from clean acoustic to an overdriven tele with a flip of the switch on the guitar, and the pushing of a switch on the Pod.

I think one really needs to consider how and why they need a guitar like this. I like it because I am mainly an electric guitar player. However, once in awhile I need an acoustic. In fact, I have found myself gravitating to this guitar to play around the house more than other (probably 'cause its new lol).

I put acoustic 10s on it and tuned it down to D Standard (the key our band plays in) and it now plays like an electric guitar, but sounds like an acoustic. Amazing.

Sounds excellent for live shows

By Sweetwater Customer on October 11, 2022

I wanted to wait to write a review until I used the Acoustasonic live.

Last night I played a solo acoustic show and for the time I was able to play the Acoustasonic guitar live. I was blown away how well it sounds plugged in direct. It's thin body makes it great for standing and playing with ease due to the telecaster body and neck. I used the full acoustic tone setting with the Fender Acoustasonic Noiseless; Fishman Under-Saddle Transducer. The acoustic engine built-in eliminates the need for pedals to enhance the sound of traditional acoustic/electric guitars.

Personally, I'm not interested in the tele sound, because I am using this guitar exclusively for a live acoustic. I did plug into an amp and it was good, but I wasn't a fan of the acoustic strings brassy sound through pedals and distortion. I have a standard tele for amps.

After the show a few musicians came up and wanted to know what guitar I was playing. They were super impressed by the sound of the guitar, especially how light weight it is and easy to play.

A couple things to be aware of. This guitar has an ultra thin body, so don't expect it be loud enough unplugged alongside standard acoustics. The action is a little higher than I like out of the box, but that can be adjusted by a luthier.

For the quality/price of this guitar, I don't see how you could go wrong. It's a nice build, great sound plugged in, and easy to play.

Fantastic

Got the instrument three weeks ago, can't put it down, so easy to play, beautifully built, thanks.

I finally found it!

I finally found my guitar. Thanks to Alan Carter who helped me through the decision and purchase. I'm very happy with the Fender Acoustasonic Player. It's a perfect fit! Thanks, Alan.

Fender acoustasonic player telecaster

By Joe from New Stanton pa on March 17, 2022 Music Background: My passion

So, i am mainly an electric guitar player with an ever changing palate of tone, constantly swapping pedals. My current rig has an acoustic simulator pedal that splits off to an acoustic amp (meaning i have to take 2 amps). Never being really happy with the acoustic sound but it worked. Then i landed a couple solo acoustic gigs and all i had was a 12 string acoustic electric that sounds really good but is limited on what i can do because I incorporated a loop pedal in my rig to lay down some chords and play lead over top. Then came the player series acoustasonic…. And first i must give a shout out to Paul at sweetwater. He has been my guy for quite a long time and really helped me through this process. Back to the guitar. When i unboxed it, first, the gig bag is pretty awesome. They put alot of thought into this. Padding, neck support, pockets and straps etc. then when I opened it up, there it was in real life. I have watched every review and looked at so many pics. It is a beautiful instrument!! It is pretty flawless. Once I started playing it, I could not stop. A perfect tool for what i want to do. Once you figure out the sweet spots with the blend knob, you have some really nice acoustic and electric tones and i really found myself not using a lot of pedals. Will it replace my electric guitars? No. But like i said it is a great tool to have

My new Go to Guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on January 15, 2022

I am really impressed with this MIM Acoustasonic Player Tele. Great sounds, light weight, and excellent quality. Aaron at Sweetwater was extremely helpful, and the setup was excellent right out of the box. Just a heads up for anyone who owns one. When the battery starts to fail, if you have it plugged into an amp, it will start to sound like nails on a chalk board or a dial up modem! It's not the cable or the amp. Just change the battery. Aside from that little quirk, this is a great all around instrument. Enjoy.

Awesome!!

Purchased this for the acoustic sound with easier playability. I have not been disappointed at all. Play it several times a week at church. Love playing this guitar!!

It's really it's own thing.

By Rob from Connecticut on February 1, 2023 Music Background: Filthy Casual

I've had my Acoustasonic Player Tele for about two months now, and I absolutely love it. It is not an acoustic guitar, nor is it an electric guitar. It isn't a replacement for either, but rather it's in its own category.

It plays like an electric, especially when accessing the upper register. The strings are acoustic strings, so you can't bend them like you can a traditional electric guitar, but other than that from a playing standpoint it feels like an electric more so than an acoustic for me.

I think this guitar is a great option for an open mic or small scale performance. I use it in an acoustic group setting and it's amazing for playing lead in that regard. It's also nice for playing rhythm with lots of different sounds available straight into a monitor.

The build quality is great, much nicer than any other Fender MIM I've played before.

This guitar isn't for a hard core acoustic folkie finger picker, at least in my opinion. It also won't supplant your electric guitar in a high gain setting by any means. But, if you're playing open mics or small coffee shop gigs and want a few more options then this is a very solid guitar. It's my favorite guitar at this point in time.

Incredible Guitar!

By Mike S. from New York on August 14, 2022 Music Background: Been playing guitar and bass for almost 30 years.

I recently received my acoustasonic player tele in shadow burst. Here is my review.

Fit and finish: Lightly finished, open pore wood grain looks beautiful and feels very soft and smooth. The shadow burst looks even better in person. Very nice rosewood fingerboard. Nice touch on the rosewood knobs as well. The recessed neck plate is pretty cool too. The laser etched logo on the headstock looks really good.

Playability: Unbelievably smooth and comfortable to play. It is very light at just over 5 lbs. but feels well built. The action felt great right out of the box. Not too high and not too low. Stays in tune very well. Strumming, picking, finger style, it's all good. Nice comfortable contours including the rounded neck heel.

Sounds: I have been playing this guitar through a Boss Katana 100 combo amp on the acoustic channel and it sounds awesome! Setting 3 gives two great acoustic sounds. Both A & B sound great as well as any blend of the two. Setting 2 clean is great or blending in the crunch sounds cool too for something different. Setting 1 electric has good tones. There is a little bit of a volume drop on this setting compared to the other 2. Setting 1 is the one that I will probably use the least. The boost on the Katana brings up the volume and complements the tone.

Overall: I am very happy with this guitar. It's a lot of fun to play. I feel that the acoustic sounds are better than my real acoustic guitars. Very nice premium gig bag included as well. The only negative would be setting 1 being not as useful and having slightly less output, but I didn't get this guitar for its electric tones anyway. Shout out to Jimmy Hart at Sweetwater for all his help over the years! Sweetwater is the best!
