A Wonderful Guitar!

By sarah mueller from Anderson, CA on September 19, 2023 Music Background: played acoustic guitar for 2 years

I am very happy with this Fender Acoustasonic Player Guitar! It arrived in excellent condition, and quite playable out of the box. I did have to tune it but imho that is to be expected. This guitar is pretty easy to play, the neck fits my hand nicely and, played acoustically, it is balanced and "small living room volume"; it's good to sing with. Plugged in it can go in many directions and lotsa volume, fun to fool around with. Just gettin started on exploring the possibilities, really. Gonna have to get a new amp, tho... ;^) Also came with quite a nice gig bag, but I oversplurged and bought a really good Fender case as well. The guitar was on a big sale so that's my excuse.
Many thanks Robbie and the Sweetwater team!

Tele Acoustasonic Player

Love it, received in 3 days. Thought I had a issue but my engineer contacted the factory to see if there was issue. Was confirmed all was fine within 2 days. That was great customer service.

Game Changer!

By Lawrence Mahoney from Talbott, TN on July 10, 2023 Music Background: Worship guitarist, gigging musician.

I was developing a problem with fretting and holding my acoustic electric. A wide neck, and a large body (the guitar's, not mine) were making it difficult to play. The Fender Telecaster Acoustasonic IS my solution. The guitar is light, the body is thin, the neck has the familiar Fender feel. The sound? Acoustically, the lows are not real low, but it's bright. Where it shines is plugged in. I'm using my ME-80 to dial in patches to compliment the guitar. This Acoustasonic sounds great!
I also want to give a shout out to my Sales Tech, Mike Winebrenner. Mike has been helping me out with gear for over a decade. He's a great guy to deal with. Sometimes he's called me just to "check in," which is another reason why I keep going back to Sweetwater for my gear.

Game Changer

By Sweetwater Customer on June 12, 2023

My acoustic duo added a drummer to liven things up at gigs a few months ago and the response from venues has been great. Audiences wanted more upbeat songs and we determined we needed to add songs that required guitar tones beyond our usual clean acoustic sound. We wanted a dirty acoustic guitar sound and even overdrive or distortion tones to finish up those really fun gigs but couldn't accomplish that with an acoustic guitar and switching to an electric guitar full-time or part-time would move us too far away from being an acoustic group. I called Sweetwater and Chris Arnold recommended the Acoustasonic Player Telecaster.

Honestly, I was not sold when I first received the guitar since it was so much smaller than my acoustics and so much lighter than my electrics. I played it for a few days and was still on the fence until I took it to practice and plugged it in to a cheap distortion pedal through the PA. Bingo! The guitar tone variety that we needed is now possible with one guitar and the set up is still simple. Thanks to Chris and Sweetwater for solving my guitar problem.

Ideal gigging guitar

By Scott Erickson from Naples, Florida on March 27, 2023 Music Background: Gigging musician

Simple is better! This guitar is truly ideal for playing live and offering versatility of sound. I am an acoustic electric player and I find this guitar allows me to easily switch from mellow acoustic tones to blended acoustic/electric or realistic electric guitar sounds. No pedals needed now.
The neck is comfortable and easy to play. The guitar is very light weight so a three hour gig is not tiring. My band mates are impressed with the sound and now I don't even pick up my other acoustics. I opted for the MIM Player rather than the MIA version after extensively researching both. I am impressed with the build quality, fit and finish. I strongly recommend having Sweetwater do a professional setup as this will ensure lower action and smooth playability right out of the case. I congratulate Fender for getting it right with this model!

Not Perfect . . . But Easy Fixes and a flawless transaction

By Robert Krueger from Mooresville, NC on January 13, 2023 Music Background: Keyboardist and budding guitar player

I have wanted one of these Acoustasonics since they were introduced and getting some Christmas money made the dream come true. Extra credit for my Sales Engineer, Erik. I placed my order thru him since there were no Acoustasonics displayed to pick from but they were in stock, and I had some questions about using my Sweetwater card to stretch the payments on this guitar. Erik made to whole process super easy and had ready answers to all my questions making the whole transaction flawless. Erik made an extra effort in sending me plenty of pictures of my selected guitar which lowered my anxiety of ordering to zero.

When I received the guitar, I was slightly disappointed that the pickup was rattling but a quick online search showed this was a common Fender Acoustasonic issue. Popping off the center back plate, a couple of twists of the Treble side pickup mounting screw, and voilà, a perfect guitar. I will be adjusting the action down a bit as I play it but that is a common adjustment as well using the Fender neck tilt.

I have a growing collection of Telecasters and this is a great add. The sound is unique but just super fun and inspiring, not a replacement for a real Tele but a great add to my collection of possible sounds. And as an acoustic, I love the size and playability of having a thin body and familiar shape with a very acceptable tone. This is going to be fun.

Is the Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster the best of both worlds?

By Steve Godlewski from Bloomington, IL on October 21, 2022

I am so excited about this guitar! I have been playing the acoustic guitar for years and have always wanted to try an electric one. This Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster Acoustic Guitar is the perfect hybrid of both worlds. It has a Mahogany body with a Sitka Spruce top which gives it a beautiful, rich sound. The Mahogany neck is extremely comfortable to play and the Rosewood fingerboard is smooth and easy to navigate.

If you're looking for the perfect set-up for your guitar, look no further than Sweetwater & their Plex and setup! This computer-guided process scans, levels, and dresses your guitar's frets to a microscopic level of accuracy, resulting in ideal action with no loss of sustain, minimized fret buzz, and no fretting out. I've never played a better-sounding or feeling guitar in my life! I loved this guitar before I had it done now I cant put it down.

Fender Acoustasonic Looks, Sounds and Plays Great

By John in Utah from UT on September 30, 2022 Music Background: I play for fun and sometimes in a Bluegrass band.

Overall the Fender Acoustasonic is just what I wanted. It produces enough acoustic volume when unplugged that I can play anytime you want. When plugged into an amp, you have a 3 way switch that makes it fast and easy to find the setting you want. The A/B switch is also easy to use in the A, B, or a blend position. This versatile guitar will become your go to guitar when you want to just sit and strum a few chords or practice a riff. If you play mostly electric and don't like the feel of a bigger acoustic, this is the guitar you want. An acoustic that feels like an electric is a great idea. The best of both worlds.

Very fun to play!

By Barry Moulder from FL on September 28, 2022 Music Background: Playing semi professional for over30 years

Went round and round whether to get the Player or the American. I decided to go with the Player and figured if I really liked it I may get the American in the future. I can say I will be definitely looking at the American version in the future. This guitar is an absolute joy to play. Changed to strings to Elixir 11s right after I received it because that is what i use on my other guitars. This guitar is really cool when using with a looper. The "electric" guitar sounds are just enough to add some interesting flavors. I have used it live once going basically straight through the board and was very well pleased. Now I want one in every color. :)

A fantastic and flexible addition to the guitarsenal!

By Josh McCullough from Ypsilanti, MI on September 13, 2022 Music Background: Hobbyist, gigs out a couple of times a year

I haven't had a 6-string in years, I've only played 12-string acoustics forever and a day until someone asked if I'd ever thought about getting a 6-string. So I started doing research; I play in a mostly-acoustic band and group of musicians, but it would be handy to have some electric tones available for certain songs rather than trying to just 'fake' it a bit with my 12 and Fender Smolder Acoustic Overdrive (which is a great pedal, btw; make sure you take the time to dial it in for what you need.)

The Player Series Acoustasonic Telecaster checked-off all the boxes: realistic acoustic tones, real electric sound, and it pulled in the piezo sounds from the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster which seemed like they'd be a lot of fun to play with. I've played this just about every day at home and at multiple rehearsals with the band, and it's a great guitar all-around. Running it through some pedals (tuner, compressor, Smolder Overdrive, reverb/chorus/delay) into my Fender Acoustic 200 amp, it sounds great. The 'neck' switch position acoustic sounds are very realistic; they won't fool you into thinking they're a vintage Martin or anything, but they don't have that piezo quack to them. The 'middle' position piezo sounds start off with what you'd expect from a standard undersaddle pickup, but the Lo-Fi Piezo is fun to add some dirt to and gets even dirtier with the Smolder kicked in.

The 'bridge' position electric sounds are really good; the clean sound you can dirty up or enhance as you want, and the 'Fat Telecaster' works great through my Smolder pedal. They're also modeled after an electric going through an amp, so you can go straight into a PA or acoustic amp and it won't have that terrible thin sound that a typical electric would.

It's very lightweight, and after so many years of playing acoustics I've had to work on holding it differently because it's so thin, comparatively speaking. It's got me working on actually playing and learning again rather than just kicking out standard chords, and while it's not a super-loud guitar unplugged it'll do great for small rooms or just playing alone. I've gotten a lot of complements on the look and sound, and if you're someone who needs to cover both acoustic and electric bases for your band or gig, I think it's a great instrument for that.

I've read some reviews that complain about the battery life; I've played it plugged in for about 5 hours now and haven't had to change the battery yet, but I've always got a few spares on hand just in case. It comes with an Energizer Industrial battery, which I was afraid of because I've had another guitar that *only* accommodated those exact batteries (they're a slightly weird dimension and not ones that you can just pick up from the grocery store or hardware store, at least not where I live in an average-sized city), but I've got some regular 9V and rechargeable 9Vs and they all fit just as well. Make sure you've got a couple in your case, and you'll be set.

Speaking of which - the gig bag it comes with is not a standard flimsy piece of junk. It's got some slight firmness and padding to it which sets it apart from the standard beginner gig bag. I got the Gator Lightweight Double-Cutaway Electric Guitar case (GLElec) as I've loved that line of cases for my acoustics, and it fits it perfectly. But if you just need something to keep it covered and out of harm's way generally, the included gig bag is just fine.

Super sweet guitar

The action on this guitar was perfect, beautiful lines and sounds great so glad I got the black you can see the wood grain in the black and a nice contrast with the natural tone of the sides and back, and as always I like being able to choose the guitar I want at Sweetwater and its nice knowing your getting a new guitar not one that was siting in a showroom.

Fender Guitar

By Jonathan from Bristow, Virginia on June 14, 2022 Music Background: Intermediate Player - Performs in a local Cover Band.

I like this guitar. Great action straight out of the box. This guitar is setup with acoustic guitar strings so switching to this slim body guitar was a little easier coming from a standard body acoustic guitar.

I've had this guitar for about 1 week and I already find myself playing my guitar further up the neck.

Best guitar ever

So glad Fender offered this! Thanks to Sweetwater for excellent service.

fun to play

By roscoe from arkansas ozark mountains on May 3, 2022 Music Background: working pro

the micro tilt neck works! adjust the action and you dont need to work on the saddle. the 6 tones are enuf for me and 9 volt battery is better imho. the neck is smaller than an acoustic and has taken some getting used to but it sure is easy to play. one small detail thats nice are the rosewood knobs. 3 piece body but they matched them so well you almost cant see the joints. 10 stars for the guitar and sweetwater.

Fender Acoustasonic Player Telecaster Acoustic

By Gary from Glen Rock, PA on May 1, 2022 Music Background: Intermediate guitarist. Love many genres of music. Rock, country, gospel and blues.

Very pleased with this Fender. No issues with the quality control. Frets were well dressed, no blemishes, stays in tune and I liked the action out of the box. Plugged in I prefer the acoustic settings and the middle positions. Unplugged, the guitar is loud enough to practice with. Kinda gets lost when playing with another acoustic guitar player. I've played it through a Vibro Champ, Blues Junior and an Acoustic amp. Prefer the Acoustic amp. No regrets on the purchase. Nice guitar.

Such a SWEET guitar!!

By Marcia from Connecticut on March 10, 2022 Music Background: Amateur Guitar Player who plays only to amuse myself

This guitar is my new baby. I like how it feels, how it plays, how it responds, whether plugged in or not. Like our many volkswagens, it handles beautifully - the strings are tight (no wobble on the low E), the neck fits in my hand just right, and the body sits on my leg like a cat during a nap. The body is narrow like a typical electric but the acoustic sound without power is as good as my Tacoma Chief. I have not played much with it plugged in yet but when I did, it sounded great. I bought it mostly to get an acoustic with a thin body that I could play without plugging in (because of shoulder problems that make the wider body problematic). I had my eye on a pre-loved Guild Songbird being sold on consignment at a nearby guitar shop for the same reasons - thin, beautiful acoustic sound unplugged, and beautiful black lacquer color. But when you snooze you lose and I lost that one. The Acoustasonic Player is my retirement present to myself and I couldn't be happier. And it's the same price as the Guild would have cost. We had it within three days of ordering from Sweetwater, whose customer service and ongoing support are the best in the business.

Does The Job

By Jay Sims from Woodcreek, TX on June 14, 2022 Music Background: Decades of blue collar singing, songwriting, and producing.

Arthritis in my shoulder necessitated that I find a thin-bodied acoustic solution.
This is it, though it was not without some hiccups.
When I got it, I could have driven my car under the strings, so a major setup was needed.
When I tried the two acoustic models, there was a nasty ringing as chords sustained. Preamping and some compression helped quite a bit, and I was able to EQ most of the offending frequencies out.
When playing a somewhat "greasy" sounding song, I decided to try the "low fi dirty" setting, which was cool.
Then a happy accident happened.
I dialed over to the "low fi clean" setting, EQed it a bit, and I finally found an acoustic tone that I liked.
It will be my default from here on out.
Side notes: It came in a really nice gig bag, a pleasant surprise.
There is no way a battery will last as long as they claim. I do well to get three 3-hour gigs out of one, so stock up.
All of this said, I am happy overall, and I would recommend this guitar to anyone who is looking for a comfortable alternative to a traditional acoustic.

Acoustisonic Tele Player Series

By Mike Myets on December 29, 2021

Love this guitar. Small, light weight, and extremely versatile. Very simple to use. Great sounds. Really a lot of fun to play.

Definitely a Hybrid

By Dan Morizzo from Manahawkin, NJ on January 29, 2022 Music Background: Local solo musician, easy listening and standards

Build quality and playability are great. I put Elixers on it and it plays like butter. Out of the six sounds I really only find a couple useful. I played it though a Boss Acoustic Singer Pro and struggled to get the sound I was looking for. The Crunch sounds are useless for my purposes. I tried it direct into my S1 Pro and found the acoustic sounds to be much better. I would likely love this guitar if it just had the three sounds and a tone knob…a humbucker in the neck pocket like a T5 would make this a must have guitar.
