Fender American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster Acoustic-electric Guitar - Tungsten Reviews

Hybrid Acoustic-electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Spruce Top, Mahogany Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, and Magnetic/Piezo Pickups - Tungsten

The Jazzmaster, George Fullerton and Leo Fender's unwitting surf and noise-rock icon, makes the perfect platform for Fender's third wave of Acoustasonic hybrid acoustic-electric instruments. Playing out on the weekends? The Acoustasonic Jazzmaster's bridge-position Acoustasonic Shawbucker magnetic pickup packs vine-ripened California cleans and the gnarliest garage rock tones this side of 1991, even without an amp in tow. But toggle positions and roll the Blend knob, and you'll unearth a slew of blissfully sweet acoustic voicings that are perfect for Sunday cafe gigs. The Acoustasonic Jazzmaster's audaciously offset spruce-on-mahogany SIRS body is built to resonate like an acoustic instrument without succumbing to the feedback issues of other stage acoustics. And yet, thanks to a Modern Deep "C" mahogany neck and thinline Jazzmaster body, this hybrid provides effortless electric-like playability up and down the fingerboard. The Acoustasonic Jazzmaster's bleeding-edge 3-pickup system — the Shawbucker humbucker plus a Fishman Matrix undersaddle system and a percussive body sensor pickup — will make you the envy of every Root, Costello, and Mascis in sight. Powering it all is a 20-hour rechargeable battery that supports simultaneous charge and play for nonstop music making wherever you play out.

The best multi-tool on the market.

By Jac Harrison from New Jersey on March 1, 2022

As a part-time writer/producer (15 -20 hours per week), it has always been a challenge for me to be able to work in the small space I have allocated for my home studio when working with acoustic instruments, and I would shy away from most jobs because of the costs involved in renting a space to record my music for consideration. So, after watching countless hours of YouTube videos and playing an example, every time I would go to a retail location – I had the confidence in this product to deliver the results I was used to from my acoustic guitar collection that includes a Taylor 914ce, Martin D28, Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-45MM, and a few (6) off-brand gems I found at guitar shows.

I was not expecting all the "hype" over this guitar to be real, but I have to say it is. This guitar is an amazing writing/production tool! In my 29-year career as a musician (with the last 14 mostly being studio gigs) I have never had a musical instrument that is this versatile, that performed so well. It does what it is advertised to do!

Her name is Peppa, and she was named by a duo of 3-year olds…

I made a sound sample for a few producer friends, and put it on SoundCloud - Signal chain: Guitar – Cable (brand Monster) – DI (DI Fender Acoustic JR DI out) – interface (PreSonus) – DAW (Reaper).

A microphone was not used in this recording. Each track was recorded using stereo out (L&R XLR out)

This guitar fills the gap

I have had this guitar for several months now, and I really like the flexability and playbility of it. The neck fits my hand perfectly, and it allows me to get acoustic & electric sounds in one package. Perfect for my worship gig. I use Elixir acoustic 10's on it, and I can still do some soloing and bends. Wide range of sounds. I do have to use an EQ pedal to knock down the brightness of some settings. There's no dedicated tone control on the guitar.

I would give it a 5 star rating, but I've had some problems with the input jack cutting out. No worries. Sweetwater and Fender stepped right up and made things right. The service from Sweetwater, and warranty coverage from Fender, is the best in the industry in my opinion. Many thanks to Fender, and my Sweetwater rep Abraham Sanchez. Truly a professional, and a great company to do business with. See you next time.
