Fender American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster Acoustic-electric Guitar - Tobacco Sunburst Reviews

Hybrid Acoustic-electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Spruce Top, Mahogany Neck, and Ebony Fingerboard - Tobacco Sunburst

The Jazzmaster, George Fullerton and Leo Fender's unwitting surf and noise-rock icon, makes the perfect platform for Fender's third wave of Acoustasonic hybrid acoustic-electric instruments. Playing out on the weekends? The Acoustasonic Jazzmaster's bridge-position Acoustasonic Shawbucker magnetic pickup packs vine-ripened California cleans and the gnarliest garage rock tones this side of 1991, even without an amp in tow. But toggle positions and roll the Blend knob, and you'll unearth a slew of blissfully sweet acoustic voicings that are perfect for Sunday cafe gigs. The Acoustasonic Jazzmaster's audaciously offset spruce-on-mahogany SIRS body is built to resonate like an acoustic instrument without succumbing to the feedback issues of other stage acoustics. And yet, thanks to a Modern Deep "C" mahogany neck and thinline Jazzmaster body, this hybrid provides effortless electric-like playability up and down the fingerboard. The Acoustasonic Jazzmaster's bleeding-edge 3-pickup system — the Shawbucker humbucker plus a Fishman Matrix undersaddle system and a percussive body sensor pickup — will make you the envy of every Root, Costello, and Mascis in sight. Powering it all is a 20-hour rechargeable battery that supports simultaneous charge and play for nonstop music making wherever you play out.

Well, This Is Indeed a Pleasant Surprise!

By Crosse from Gainesville, VA on August 29, 2022 Music Background: Guitar, project studio, product developer

I mostly play classic rock/hard rock, and this mostly on Les Pauls, but I do have a couple of guitars with Piezo pickups (I particularly love the tone of Ghost System) and like to, um, well, play hard acoustic rock. I've always loved the offset shape of the Jazzmaster but have been otherwise unimpressed with the ones I've played (an exception being the Jim Root, which is really a Jazzmaster in name only). Anyway, combine all of this together with promotional pricing and I couldn't resist.

This review is based just on what are truly first impressions, but, so far, I'm truly impressed. It's light, comfortable (body and neck) and easy to play. There's a lot of tonal versatility and range here. I'm using it with a Acoustic Fly Rig and the tone across the board is outstanding, although you'll probably want to re-EQ some of the instrument's positions; nothing new here. The guitar itself is pretty. Anyway, I'm looking forward to many happy hours seeing what this baby can really do - so far, though, it would be tough to be happier.

Very satissfied with the Fender Acoustasonic Jazzmaster

By Jorger Amodio from SAN ANTONIO, TX on June 14, 2022 Music Background: Casual player now

I'm a casual player, so don't take this comments as if they were from a professional :-)

Playing guitar, particularly acoustic/electroacoustic is one of favorite ways to disconnect from the real world and relax.

I used to play regularly when I was much younger, and about two years ago I resumed playing, I'm still trying to get my fingers to respond which as y'all know requires practice. I have several guitars, acoustic, electric, MIDI, but I was looking for one electro acoustic with the right size and variation of tonalities, not too heavy, easy to play. And I saw the Fender Acoustasonic Jazzmaster announced and available at Sweetwater, and fell in love at first sight !!

I had to save and wait a little bit, meanwhile I read many reviews, watched countless videos, and when the time was right I ordered mine. Ohh boy, ohh boy, kudos to the Sweetwater shipping gurus, the guitar arrived two days earlier than expected, as usual in the amazing packaging (including the candy bag) from Sweetwater.

Besides being a beautifully designed instrument, my first impression was "wow this guitar is pleasantly light" !! I'm still trying to get use to the shape of it, and few times feels a little bit unbalanced, I mean the headstock tends to go down but I believe it is just practice and getting use to how thin it is, thinner than the Gibson Les Paul I also got from Sweetwater.

I have a very small amp for practice, but I started playing this one at first without the amp, very nice clean tone, easy to play, no issues at all with the fingerboard, very impressed with the intonation. Now, when I hooked it up to the amp and started playing with the voice selector switch, boooom my brain exploded !!! I could not believe my ears, the tones you can get out of this guitar are amazing, I could not believe when playing in the Rosewood Dreadnought position that it was not just a real large acoustic, very very impressed. Each voice has its own personality and the blend knob gives you so many variations. I'm extremely pleased with this purchase and as always by the quality service provided by Sweetwater.

The Fender ACoustasonic Jazzmaster became my favorite guitar for daily practice, I play only at home for fun, but I can imagine if I had to play on a gig or at a party with friends, this would be the guitar I'd take with me.

Thank you Fender, Thank you Sweetwater !!

PS: I had a hard time trying to decide what color to buy, if I had the $$ I'd buy one of each :-)

Fun Guitar!

Fun guitar and sounds very good even unplugged. The neck shape is perfect and feels great. Very smooth feeling. Overall looks and sounds great and nicely upgraded from previous acoustasonic.

Hybrid guitar

By Diane Hubert from Rockmart, Ga on September 14, 2022 Music Background: Guitar player for 50 years.

Well, this is a game changer. While this guitar won't replace an acoustic or electric guitar, it does have many useable tones. It shines with an acoustic guitar amp. The electric guitar tones sound better on an amp designed for electric playing, careful with feedback. If you gig with this, make sure the battery is charged and you are good to go. It is easy to play, lightweight and well made. Aesthetically beautiful to look at. I wish Fender offered a hard shell case instead of a gig bag for the money they charge for the guitar. That's why I gave it only 4 stars.
