The sweet spot amplifier.
I purchased the is amp to go with a new pair of Wharfedale Diamond 240s. I wanted an amp that could handle 4ohm impedance speakers but also had uncolored sound. The 501 delivers without breaking a sweat. 85w has been more than enough to run the speakers with clarity and punch. I do mostly analog music I.e Cassettes and vinyl. This amp was designed with that in mind. The Pure Direct will let ya know if your external preamp is doing its job. So far rarely need to use tone knobs. On board phono preamp is good and will get the job done but if you want a little more detail I suggest an external. Overall this amp punches above its price point and is absolutely fantastic for those who enjoy analog formats.
