Worth buying it.

I bought this guitar for my 11 year old daughter and she loves it, she said that the size of it is what she was looking for. It's a high quality guitar; will not go wrong with it.

excellent customer service

It was easy to order and receive my guitar. I had one question, I called the company, there was little wait time, and my question was immediately answered. I am very happy with the guitar.

Very good for what it’s meant to be

By Mark Stein from Basking Ridge, NJ on October 25, 2023 Music Background: amateur

This is a small guitar, significantly smaller than a 7/8 size. It cannot compete with a full size $ Taylor or Martin, but you should have realized that from the $ price. It's meant for a child who is learning, or a person with small hands who wants to play basic songs. You're not going to shred the Malagueña like Roy Clark with this guitar, but you will be able to learn and play songs, and it will sound reasonably good. It has a nice quality look to it, and the size makes it easy and comfortable to handle. Very light weight. I put D'Addario 85/15 Bronze Super Light Gauge .009-.045 strings on it, which adds to the easiness of playing it. The built-in tuner works fine. Plugging this into my Blackstar Sonnet 60 amp, the sound is very very good. I gave this 5 stars because it was exactly what I was looking for- a small simple reasonablynice quality guitar with built-in tuner as a gift to a grandchild who wants to learn guitar. If she gives up on it, that's ok, I'll only be out $. The attached photo shows it next to my Taylor GS-mini, which is a 7/8 size, for comparison.

Perfect Companion (Fair Price, Great Features)

By Sweetwater Customer from Jacksonville, FL on February 15, 2023 Music Background: Songwriter / Artist / Producer

Absolutely amazing guitar.

The quality of the sound instantly elevates once you plug it in to your acoustic amp or DI to record. The onboard tuning and tone controls are very convenient for dialing in that sound your wanting in the middle of a demo or songwriting session.

The size and build of this guitar is perfect for beginners, younger players, players with dynamic struggles, and professionals in need of a high quality traveling friend. It's hard to think of someone who couldn't make use of this incredible guitar.

I highly recommend to all players of all skill sets. The looks, features, versatility, and travelability (not a word), all make the guitar worth a little bit more than it's priced.

Shoutout to Yamaha for the great product and Sweetwater for the great customer service and shipping. Not a better duo in the buisness.

Great Little Travel Guitar

I've had this guitar a little over a month and absolutely love it. It plays so well without an amp or through an amp…the sound is amazing. The feeling is so comfortable. My thanks to Ben Robinson and his team as their service and knowledge again were outstanding. If you're looking to purchase this type of guitar my recommendation is to definitely buy it!

Great!

Perfect guitar for what I wanted it for. Small lightweight to use while on couch. Great sound. I was surprised at how the fretboard felt like a regular size. Thanks to Derek Kemp for taking good care of helping me with the ordering process and answering all my questions.

I can't say enough good things about this guitar! Amazing quality for the price. The neck is very true and the action is smooth. But the best thing about it is how great it sounds through a decent PA! It's a bit feedback prone in a live situation, but nothing I can't deal with. It just FEELS good in my hands. Kudos to Yamaha for making such a good product. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

Yamaha APXT2 3/4 Size Guitar

By Dale on November 22, 2020 Music Background: Beginner

I am a beginner guitar player, and I absolutely love this guitar!! It has a great sound and fits against my body very comfortably. The thin neck allows for very easy movement along neck! I think the built in tuning device is great as well. I have allowed a few established guitar players to play on it, and they too fell in love with this beauty. If you're just starting out like me, or want something very easy to travel with, please take a look at the little beauty!!!!

An amazing little guitar! Buy one!

By Roger McKissack from New Braunfels, Texas on October 12, 2020 Music Background: 55 years playing guitar

Recently a suffered a broken left shoulder from a fall. Playing my full size acoustics and electrics was too painful, so I bought this little rascal to play while I am healing up.

Holy cow! Don't let the price fool you - this little thing is sweet! No, its not a Martin, Taylor, or Santa Cruz unplugged. But plug it into any halfway decent acoustic amp, and hang on to your shorts!

The pickup/preamp gives thing amazing sound and sustain. I have a 35watt Ibanez Troubador acoustic amp, and the sound is beyond amazing! Sustain is solid with very little decay, and no noise to speak of. It will feedback if you have it close up to the amp and cranked all the way, but so does every other guitar. Big deal - Not!

The neck took just a little tweaking for my taste, and now its a dream to play.

The tuners have plastic buttons, but they hold tune as well as any guitar I've had, and they are an easy swap out if you want to do it.

The finish and construction are typical Yamaha - flawless in every way. It comes with a nylon case, neck wrench, and complete manual, along with the candy sack you get from Sweetwater.

Take this little beast at face value - $... for a terrific beginner guitar with balls-to-the-wall sound when amplified. Its also a great travel/vacation guitar so you don't have to trust an airline with your Martin. Leave it home and take this one instead.

Yes, it's that good!

Great Little Guitar!

By Ryan from Ohio on October 10, 2019

I've had this guitar for a few weeks and it is excellent! I play it almost every day and it sounds great for how compact it is. I've had no issues with tuning or string buzz, it's really a joy to play.

Great Guitar

Sweet Little Guitar

What a nice travel guitar at a nice price. It is a perfect base to build upon also. With some nicer tuners, and brass nut or saddle, plus the strings of your choice, you can create a GREAT travel guitar. Sounds good through my little practice amp as well as acoustic. It would be an Excellent guitar for little beginners too, being a 3/4 size, the rosewood fretboard and neck action is easy for small hands.

Good little guitar

By Mike from Springfield MA> on March 11, 2024 Music Background: I am really a professional drummer!

I haven't played for years and starting up again. I have a full size acoustic but now that I'm 69 having trouble playing some chords and thought this smaller guitar might be easier. Well, it's defiantly smaller but not really easier so it just must be my old age, lol! But it is a cool little guitar and I like switching between guitars for different feel and sound. I haven't played it in an amp yet, but like the tuner. I think it's worth the price I paid. Good LITTLE guitar!

Good travel guitar and/or for someone with smaller hands.

By Dave from Multiple campsites on August 16, 2023 Music Background: Old amateur, semipro who likes folk, folk-rock, blues, blues-rock and more

First, let's put this in perspective: It's an inexpensive 3/4 sized guitar. Now, here are my comments.
The sound was better than I was expecting and obviously not anywhere near my 45+ year old dreadnaught with rosewood/spruce.
The action is good, but if you are used to a full size guitar it takes some getting used to string/fret placement.
As a beater/traveler it is serving me well. I've taken it on several camping trips and I don't worry about whether being near the fire pit is going to ruin my favorite guitar.
Complaints: Tuning heads are basically useless. I recently ordered some better quality ones. Gig bag is essentially useless. Oh, but let's get real "it's an inexpensive 3/4 sized guitar" that I am enjoying in spite of itself.

Yamaha APXT2

By Jeffrey Hickox from OH on November 28, 2021

Not really what I expected when I ordered it. The guitar is very small and light. Seems more like a "walmart" kids guitar than a serious instrument. I don't see myself playing it very often.

only recommend for kids or beginners

By Luis on July 12, 2021 Music Background: Intermediate

I bought this for travel thinking that I needed a cheap guitar for camping or to take on a flight. But I am dissatisfied and looking for an alternative.

The guitar is not even loud enough for playing with others and the sound quality is really bad. Of course I didn't have big expectations but I was still disappointed.

The tuners are terrible and cannot keep string tension consistent. Thankfully there's an integrated tuner that is handy.

The gig bag has ZERO padding so you end up beating up the guitar anyway. It only protects from scratches basically. And the guitar size is so odd that I couldn't find a quality matching case or gig bag for it.

It would be great for a child learning to play though.

Ok for beginners and kids

By Jeff from IN on November 18, 2015 Music Background: 20 years playing, 10 years playing out regularly

I own several guitars, my main acoustic is a Taylor 414ce, and to me this guitar sounds like a toy, Don't get me wrong it's way better than a wal-mart guitar but I just couldn't get over the tin box sound. For a first time player or a child this would be a good guitar but for someone accustom to mid-high end acoustics I found this annoying. The neck also felt horrible, it has a very slow & plastic feel. The guitar was however set up perfect, no intonation issues. I didn't get a chance to plug it in, but a tin sounding guitar with pick-ups will still sound like a tin box. If you have the extra money, the Baby Taylor is well worth the extra $100-$200.

String noise issue

By MDBurk from New Jersey on May 3, 2019

Excessively squeaky strings on this guitar and so much so I'm wondering whether the issue might have something to do with aspects of the guitar in addition to the strings themselves.
