If you're looking to add some '60s vibe to your J Bass or similarly spec'd 4-string, check out this pickup set from Aguilar. Warm, punchy, and articulate, this calibrated pair is painstakingly modeled after a set of single-coils taken from a mid-1960s Jazz Bass using period correct components - including the same heavy formvar copper wire and Alnico V magnets known to be used during that time. Aguilar's proprietary winding pattern gives each pickup good balance between strings for a tone you can take straight to the studio or plug into your favorite vintage amp.

Best Pickups ever
I put these into my short scale bass and it is my sound. I love it! I don't think I've ever been so happy with a change of sound like these have provided me. It gave me the tone I wanted and needed to sound like me on the bass!
When played at 100% volume it rings
A good sounding pickup but when played at full volume it it has a microphonic type ring to it. Also if you tap them with your fingernail they make a pinging sound. If you run them at 3/4 they sound very good, not quite what I was hoping for though.

Just installed my new Aguilar AJ 60 pickups in my parts jazz bass. As advertised they have that elusive"vintage" tone with no rusty pole pieces. Nice attack to the note and warm mids. They match beautifully with my John East preamp. Passive tone is great for nice classic Fender Jazz Bass tones. Active offer a wide array of modern powerful punchy sounds while keeping that sweet tone.
