Excellent Mixer/Interface

By Raja_B from North Carolina USA on July 6, 2022 Music Background: Home singing and recording

This is a very good device. I purchased it from another online seller. I already have an EVO 8, (purchased from Sweetwater) which sends out 4 USB channels/tracks whereas this Mk2 only sends out 2. But that is fine; one can always overlay more tracks, sending out 2 channels (like one stereo) at a time. The Mic Preamps ae as good as my Mackie ProFX6v3 Onyx preamps. Looks like these devices in future are all going to be USB powered. And it only needs 1 Amp to power it; most USB adapters put out 2 Amps these days. Connected to my Bose S1 Pro, I initially struggled with feedback, but I found that if I turned the Reverb off, I had very little trouble. I'm sure I can correct that feedback issue even with reverb on. On the controller (Yamaha AG) software there are only 3 reverb settings, which are room hall and stage. But each one can be adjusted/changed as needed. The EQ also can be tweaked. I downloaded the Cubase AI 12 using the code that came with it but I have not explored it yet as I have been a Cakewalk user for the past three years or more. It also comes with Steinberg software for podcasting which I don't do.
In summary, this is a very good device. It is so new that as of date many online sellers including Sweetwater don't stock it yet and even Yamaha's global website does not have any information on it yet.

Nice mixer for streaming

By Dan B from Georgia on August 23, 2022

Nice little mixer for streaming. The loopback function is a convenient feature allowing one to stream whatever is coming from computer direct to your stream and you can mix it with your vocal and instrument. The hardware functions are limited as most of the settings are controlled by the software such as reverb and compression levels. The software does have a setting for electric guitar, but none for acoustic. Also there doesn't seem to be a way to actually save the settings in the new software. So you have to reset it every time. I contacted Yamaha about this but they had no answers. Yamaha support is terrible unlike Sweetwater support.

Nice mixer but a major flaw

By Daniel Corrieri from Ellabell, GA on September 13, 2022

The mixer itself is decent for streaming, however the software is a major drawback. The mixer default settings are always set for a high vocal on channel one and a electric guitar on channel two. You have to open the software to change the settings for the inputs each time you use the mixer. You can save console file settings but that only saves reverb and compression settings. Why the console settings can not save the input settings is a major pain. I contacted Yamaha support and the technician confirmed that is the case. He seemed as surprised at this as I was. He advised he would forward the problem to the programmers so perhaps they might update the software. So far they have done nothing. I have a bass/ low tenor voice and play acoustic guitar so I have to change the settings every time I stream. Had I known of this problem I probably would have not purchased the mixer which was supposed to be an improvement from the prior model. Yamaha needs to get their act together with the software.
