In other words, the Ibanez Artwood AC340CE delivers tone and performance that stands out in its class.

More than a beginner guitar..killer value

By Bill the Band, Little Feat, Stutgell Simpson, and other from Colorado on December 6, 2023 Music Background: Play in a band, been playing for fifty years. Play Stephen Stills, Allman Bross. Pink Floyd, Doc Watson,

I picked one of these up at a store and was blown away by the gutty fat string sounds. The neck is very playable and action is set a little high. Great if you also play slide guitar or want to learn it. I bring it to gigs out of its case as there is rarely a place to put cases, or hang it in a net in my sprinter van when traveling and it has proven to be pretty darn bullet proof. I love this guitar and others are always asking me about it as it stands out with the nice dark wood finish. Absolutely great value for the money. The cutaway is important to me for lead and slide playing, and the electronics work fine with a tuner and pickup built in. Good for playing through a sound system.
If buying a guitar for a beginner, spend a bit more on this, or the dreadnought version for only $. I am a big Ibanez acoustic fan now. The nylon string cutaway electric is great too. Love that one as well. But this is my go-to guitar and I have several much more expensive ones. Happy playing!

Very nice

I've been very happy this guitar. It looks great, has a great sound and feel. It's solidly put together and a joy to play.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS GUITAR

By Nick from Michigan on May 5, 2023 Music Background: Drummer for 20 years, just started playing guitar in February 2023.

I just started playing a few months ago and I bought this guitar when I started getting good enough to play the chords. I started on electric and really struggled with the string spacing, as I have quite large hands. I also have trouble making my left hand flat from an old wrist injury, which make forming some of the chords more difficult or even painful on electric or other traditional acoustic guitars. I did some research and found this beauty has slightly wider spacing and thought, "Why the hell not? Any extra spacing has to help." And boy did it!!! Not only did I buy it for the wider spacing but, I also love the colors and the fact that it's acoustic electric, and sounds BEAUTIFUL!!! I can't wait to plug in with my dad or my friend at my next jam. I truly feel like this was worth every penny.

If you have big hands or trouble with spacing in general, or just want a great sounding and great looking guitar, look no further! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GUITAR!!!

Good for the price

By Rob on March 13, 2023 Music Background: A few decades of noodling around, not a pro.

Shipped quickly and arrived well set-up and properly intonated, great job by the Sweetwater team. Sounds good for the price point. The wood is nicely figured and open pore finish gives a nice feel, although could be a hair smoother in a few spots that don't impact playability and tbh will buff nicely over time with regular care. The neck is not too thick, the fretwork is solid, and it comes with a bone nut/saddle.

Impressive!

By Gary Burns from Walla Walla, WA on February 20, 2023 Music Background: Bass player, sometime acoustic Rhythm, worship bands

I've been looking for awhile to find the right guitar for me. I've been to store fronts trying different acoustics, couldn't find one that I liked. They were either too expensive or the sound quality was not there. When SW had their sale I decided to take a closer look. I saw that this guitar has a shorter scale and that the strings are a little farther apart. As an older person, my hands have begun to hurt when I play. I can play this guitar without the pain I've experienced with others. I went ahead and paid extra to have the guitar setup, string height and neck adjustment. The thing plays like butter! And the sound…the sound, rich and full. Very happy with this purchase!

Great Guitar For The Money

By Jason Miller from St. Marys Pennsylvania on July 26, 2022 Music Background: Basically self taught. Pointers from a couple friends. I only own 4 Guitars

First I want to thank Brant Gerald from Sweetwater for steering me towards this guitar. This is an Awesome Guitar for the money. I have three other guitars and this one beats them all bar none. Including an Epiphone and a Fender guitar.

Straight out of the box the only thing I had to do was slightly tune it in. Not only is the open pore wood it's built from have a beautiful flat looking finish, but it's so comfortable and easy to play. Beats the slippery gloss guitars all day long.

I absolutely love this guitar. If you're looking for your first acoustic electric guitar or your tenth one, you will want this one. I wasn't halfway through my first song and was sold on it. It sounds absolutely beautiful! It's so easy to grab the chords you want to play. I absolutely recommend this guitar.

Again I thank Brant Gerald from Sweetwater. I ordered it Friday, got it Sunday, & Brant called me on Monday to see if I was happy with this Guitar. I was actually playing it when he called me.

What a great guitar!

By Rocky Guarriello from Rutherfordton, NC on June 30, 2022 Music Background: keyboards, vocals, sound engineer, and recording.

Sweet instrument. Sound great plugged directly in the the PA without any mixer eq. EQ the guitar and it sits in a mix perfectly.

Good build quality and finish!

Setup

By John Wilson from LOS ANGELES, CA on June 3, 2022

Action is high. All I did was loosen the strings then clockwise turn using truss rod tool. Its easy don't worry look it up if u don't know on YouTube.

Until 12th fret high e touches a quarter placed btwn fretboard & strings.

My God its a player. Deep resonant w crazy sustain. Fix th action n enjoy the sounds u nvr heard before. Subtle beauty.

Excellent guitar !!!

For this price is the best guitar you can find out there, highly recommended.

Very Nice Ibanez

By Joe Stephenson from Poteau, OK on April 7, 2021 Music Background: Musician, Producer, Sound Engineer

Just got my new Ibanez and I must say it is a very nice guitar. I have arthritis in my hands and when I picked this guitar up I was expecting it to bother me when I played it, but much to my surprise it was very easy on my hands. The sound that come out of this guitar is amazing also. it has a very rich and bright sound with a subtle hint of mid range and low range sound. I am very happy with it so far, now all I need to do is see how it sounds when recorded with the xlr and 1/4 out puts. Thank you Sweetwater and Ibanez for this guitar.

Great Guitar

By Andrew from Pennsylvania on April 29, 2020

I started with a cheap strat clone, then a cheap acoustic. Added an Epiphone Les Paul. Played on and off for a few years and recently got back into it. Decided I needed something new, something better, without spending a fortune. Man, I made the right choice. This guitar is awesome. Right out of the box it was set up almost perfectly. I think less than a quarter turn of each tuning peg had it in tune and playing beautifully. Decently low action from the factory makes playing it a breeze. The feel of the open pore wood is really nice. It's not slick but it has a "soft" feel that is very comfortable in the hand. The sound is warm and full. I've mostly been playing it unplugged and love it. Plugged in is just as good, but I'm still getting used to a plugged-in acoustic.
I read other reviews with comparisons to Martins and Taylors. Although I don't have any to compare to myself, I took other peoples' word for it and I'm glad I did. This thing is really nice.

Can’t put it down

By Travis from NC - USA on December 25, 2018 Music Background: Longtime amateur. Gigging singer/player

I picked this guitar up and noodles with it at a chain guitar shop while I was waiting on my buddy to make a purchase. Fell in love and ended up getting it from Sweetwater for Christmas. This guitar, for the money, is one of the best on the market. The open pore finish is fantastic and let"s you feel the actual wood grain. If you have big gorilla mitts for hands like I do, the wide (1.77 inch nut width) fretboard and slightly extra string space is a blessing. The neck profile (which I think is a soft V) is comfortable and the action is low. Like most acoustic players, I"ve been a dreadnought player my whole guitar playing like, so I"m used to a boomier sound, but this one is right and focused. The grand concert body is comfortable to play around and I"m glad to be not be hugging a fridge when I"m playing. The mahogany used on this body is gorgeous and perfectly paired. Highly recommend this or any of the other open pore mahogany guitars in their line.

Sweetwater Luthiers Rock ! / very good guitar

By Greg Denis from Toledo , Oh on February 15, 2022

Hi all … I am going to use this review to give the Sweetwater Luthiers the dap they deserve.

I have them do a set up on every single guitar I buy. And it is more than worth it , even though I like to set up my own guitars. Let Sweetwater know what you want & they'll make it happen , if they can. And acoustics are very different in that you can't raise or lower the bridge without some precise work. GET THE SET UP.

I like my action low , even on acoustics. And this guitar showed up perfectly intonated at the string height I requested … I couldn't be happier.

The open pore finish is different , but I'm growing to like it.
And I couldn't tell you what Ovangkol is , but the neck plays nice … especially after you've played it a while & broken it in. stays in tune just fine & while the pick up may not be top-of-the-line , again , it is more than sufficient.

All of my acoustics are more expensive than this one , yet this is the one I pick up the most & that's what I got it for.
For what you pay , you will be more than satisfied with this guitar. I also got a nice Ibanez case that fits this guitar & that was at a reasonable price.

I see these are in stock again … you'd better jump on it quick !! Shout out to my rep Cody & the luthiers at Sweetwater.

Great Value and Incredible Ibanez Playability.

By Jakob Stafford from Missouri on October 4, 2023

First of all the reason i took off one star is because there is some finishing issues with one of the fret marker inlays and they left a small hole in the fretboard next to the dot.

With that out of the way, i have to say im really relieved this guitar is capable of what i was hoping. I bought this with the sole intention of learning modern fingerstyle (Andy Mckee, Mike Dawes type of stuff). With that said perhaps the most important prerequisite for that is low action. The guitar shipped with a fair amount of bow and high action so after a quick truss rod adjustment the Low E measures at less than 2mm at the 12th fret. With absolutely no buzz whatsoever!

The electronics in this guitar sound absolutely stunning. Plugged directly into my Headrush FRFR the tone is not thin or characteristic of some Piezo systems, the Fishman S Core produces a sound that is 100% representative of how this guitar sounds acoustically. And the Ibanez preamp offers a LOT of treble boost and cut, perhaps more than necessary so it should solve any eq issues you have.

IF you are interested in utilizing this guitar with a very low action the bridge will likely need sanded down to eek out even more than what i described already. I went ahead and ordered a second bone saddle (part number 5S743H401R-B) so i can have a low saddle and a high saddle in case i run into issues with changes in weather etc.

You have the oppurtunity to choose from multiple guitars in stock on here and the tops differ from each other dramatically and beautifully. This is a killer option for the price point and i certainly don't regret it.
