Zildjian Quick Beat 14-inch Hi-hat Cymbals Reviews

14" Hi-hat A Cymbals with 4 Laser-cut Holes (Pair)

Finally, you can dial in those tight and responsive hi-hat “chick” effects with the A Quick Beats series of hi-hat cymbals from Zildjian. Designed specifically for clean, crisp, and, speedy playability, Sweetwater drummers have found that these cymbals deliver 8th, 16th, and 32nd notes with effortless clarity. Zildjian’s secret? It lies within a flat-profile lower cymbal engineered with four laser-cut holes, accelerating the release of air between cymbals to provide much shorter and more pronounced sound. That’s welcome news for not just your chops, but for precise and consistent stomp tempos as well. But brevity in sustain shouldn’t mean a suffering in presence: with their heavily weighted construction, the A Quick Beats have absolutely zero issue cutting through your mix. This makes them perfect for numerous musical applications, from the unrivaled definition of hip-hop to the intricacies of jazz. Outfit your kit with a pair of ultra-responsive, low-sustain hi-hat cymbals that really mean business — try Zildjian A Quick Beats!

Nice, Crispy, Classics

By Russell W. from Evansville, IN

So I've played a lot of different hats over the years. Different features, different sizes, etc. These quick beats are VERY good. They feel more like a traditional hi hat pair under the sticks. The pedal chick is completely defined, even more so than mastersounds or rippled edge hats. They also retain a little more traditional sizzle when closed than a pair mastersounds. These quick beats are quite loud and hi pitched due to the heavier top. They're higher pitched than the 13's that I own. They sound very clean and crispy no matter how you're playing them. They do pretty well for some fast, precise hi hat work. This pair knocked my 13 inch mastersounds and my 15 inch new beats off my kit. I can see exactly why they're such a classic. If only they'd start offering other sizes…

These are great hats and if you're looking for crispy with great pedal action, this is your set.

What? No reviews?

By Marcus F. from Knoxville, Tennessee
Music Background: Drummer for over 50 years now, soundman for over 20.

I can't believe this set of hi-hats doesn't have even one review. I'm gonna fix that. So, just for the record, I have played this particular set of Zildjian hats for almost two decades now, and have done so on thousands of gigs. So yeah, to say this is "long-term review", would be an understatement.

I have several sets of hats from various manufacturers...and all of them are good.... but for me personally, the Zildjian Quickbeats have always been my "First Choice, Top Of The List, Go-To", set of hats. Of all of the hats I have, the Quickbeats have a crispness that none of my other hats can match, combined with a slightly dry shimmer on the bark, that I can't help but smile at. I can't say whether that might be because of the air vent holes in the bottom cymbal, or perhaps is something that is particular to only my set. I don't know the answer that one; I can only say that I love the set I have.

In the interest of full disclosure, this review is completely biased, but at least to my ear, I have never heard a better hat tone for the kinds of gigs I do. In a world where I will very rarely give an accolade of "perfect" to anything... as least as far as my personal set of Zildjian hats go...(and granted, it may be ONLY to my ears)... these are perfect for me.
