These replaced my old 1031"s. Amazing monitor, the stereo image and phantom center are second to none. Improved low mids to the previous generation.
amazing monitors
Believe it or not when I started getting serious about my music production, these were my first monitors and they sound amazing, I must admit, it didn't make my mixes better in the beginning because of my lack of knowledge. However they sound super smooth and the low end couldn't be better, they are very powerful too. I was debating between these and the mackie monitors in the same categorie and the Genelecs did it for me.
A significant investment worth every dollar, then some
I've sampled many monitors, heard all kinds of audio sources, but none have come close to Genelec's catalog. Intensely accurate sound reproduction.
Being able to trust your speakers and know that what you're hearing is exactly what's coming out of your sound card is an invaluable asset as an engineer/producer. Since purchasing the 8050B's, I've been able to remove the mental "filter" that kept me second guessing myself with every knob I twisted.
I would have liked some sort of software integration with the GLM calibration kit they offer with their higher-end SAM monitors, even if it's just a simple EQ adjustment on my PC's bitstream output to my sound card, but alas. A great value nonetheless for the newfound confidence and freedom.
