700 Series Taylor with a Thick Tone

Taylor's 716ce acoustic-electric guitar is an excellent choice for rich, bold tone. You get the combination of a gorgeous solid Lutz spruce top with back and sides made of resonant Indian rosewood. Unplugged, the 716ce gives you a vibrant and chiming tone, and thanks to its cutting-edge Expression System 2 electronics, it also sounds acoustically realistic when you plug in. A Grand Symphony body style perfectly complements the selection of tonewoods, adding powerful projection and a natural treble emphasis. Take it from Sweetwater — you'll love playing the Taylor 716ce!

Grand Symphony really means grand!

The body shape of the 716ce is called Grand Symphony — and it's not just a name. Just a bit larger than Taylor's Grand Auditorium body style, the wide lower bout of the Grand Symphony produces powerful low to midrange frequencies, and its narrow waist directs that melodic power through the soundhole to the listener's ear. The Grand Symphony shape is musically and ergonomically wonderful to hear and to play.

Choice tonewoods — Lutz spruce and Indian rosewood

The 716ce is a prime example of the high-quality tonewoods Taylor selects for their guitars. It features the hybrid Lutz spruce for its top, which gives you wonderful projection with the perfect amount of sparkle. A result of natural interbreeding between Sitka and white spruce trees found in British Columbia and the Alaskan panhandle, Lutz spruce lumber often exhibits the physical dimensions and stiffness of Sitka — but it's less dense, as white spruce tends to be. This makes Lutz spruce an excellent soundboard material. Indian rosewood for the back and sides is paired with the Lutz spruce top to give the 716ce an extra-rich, warm voice.

ES2 electronics deliver superior sound onstage

Artists who play plugged in will appreciate the natural-sounding Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics onboard the 716ce. This system features a 3-section proprietary pickup located behind the guitar's saddle for clear and accurate sound reproduction. A master volume control and a pair of tone controls let you tweak your sound and output from the stage, and a discreet phase switch helps you squelch feedback before it starts.

High-end fit and finish

Taylor's 700 Series guitars bring you a taste of the finer things in life. The back and sides are made of sonically rich, visually soothing Indian rosewood, and the abalone fret marker inlays set off the ebony fretboard with elegance. The 716ce features a tropical mahogany neck, a herringbone-inspired Douglas fir and maple rosette, Hawaiian koa binding, and a weathered-brown pickguard that eloquently complements the guitar's rosewood body. From its Taylor nickel tuners all the way to its ebony bridge pins, this guitar is a high-performance stunner.

Taylor 716ce 6-string Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Grand Symphony body style projects boldly with superior articulation to cut through the mix
  • Rosewood back and sides yield warm, rich mids with just the right amount of sparkly treble
  • Lutz spruce top resonates with powerful richness and volume
  • Florentine cutaway is visually striking and lets you access upper frets easily
  • ES2 electronics deliver your 716ce's tone safely to the PA or recording console
