Fulltone '70 BC-108C Fuzz Pedal Reviews

Fuzz Guitar Pedal with Mismatched Silicon Transistors, Mids Control, and True Bypass

Hotter, angrier, and fuzzier than its germanium-equipped sibling, the Fulltone ’70 snarls with a spot-on re-creation of the world’s most iconic circle-shaped silicon-style fuzzbox. The heart of this pedal lies in its dual silicon BC-108C transistors, which have been intentionally mismatched by Fulltone to enhance the ’70 BC-108C’s harmonic-rich bite. Just like the original, tweaking the ’70 BC-108C’s highly interactive Volume and Fuzz controls unlocks a plethora of tonal colors, from a touch of raspy overdrive to blow-out and sputtering single-note leads. And while this pedal remains tonally true to the vintage stompbox that inspired it, the ’70 BC-108C upgrades the 2-knob formula of the original with an additional Mids control that sharpens up your sound and allows you to slice through any mix!

Delicious fuzz with edge

By Brandon Watkins from East Lansing, MI on December 31, 2021

I knew I was keeping this pedal within 10 seconds of playing it. It has a delicious, harmonically rich fuzz with a bit of an aggressive edge that I've been dreaming of. It sounded amazing both with my HSS Strat (all pickup combos) and my Les Paul with P-90s. Very dynamic. The only thing that makes me mad is that I could have saved myself five grand in pedals and amps if I'd bought this first.

Incredible!

Best silicon fuzz face style pedal on the market. I like it better than my Dunlop Hendrix Fuzz Face. Between the mids knob and the internal trim pot (bias control) this fuzz box can sound exactly the way you like. Get one!

Excellent Fuzz

By Gary from WNC on July 20, 2021

I have a fuzz addiction. I love silicon and germanium transistor fuzz pedals. You will not be disappointed with this Fulltone 70. I have it and the 69 and will not go anywhere anytime soon. Love them. Best bang for the buck in pedal world. FTR, I've been using and playing pedals and fuzz for 40 years. I know what a great Fuzz Face sounds like.

Fuzztastic!!!

I've only had it a couple hours but this fuzz is awesome! Not a bad sound in it. Fulltone all the way!

It’s a keeper

By Hutter from Atlantic Highlands NJ on April 18, 2019

At first I wasn"t too thrilled.
Then I opened it up, looked inside.
It has an internal bias pot.
Turned it clockwise half turn and it sounds great.
This pedal also reacts to hard or soft picking, pretty cool.
I think this is the fuzz I was looking for.

70's Fuzz

By Jeff Hopp from Tempe, AZ on November 27, 2015 Music Background: Man from M.A.R.S. band

Like all Fulltone products, the 70's fuzz is incredible. Really works well with Marshalls. I can't speak for Fenders. I also own a vintage Orange amp and it works well with that too. But with my Marshall it is off the charts fuzz heaven. I have owned dozens of fuzz box. Numerous Big Muffs, Fuzz Face, Soul Bender, Tweak Fuzz, etc., etc. and until I got the 70's fuzz I was never totally happy with any of them. Every tone is vintage and classic. Adjusting the volume knob brings out so many classic fuzz tones that totally impress. Fulltone is by far my favorite pedal maker.

Fulltone '70 Fuzz Pedal

By Robert Mulharin from Stanhope, NJ on July 30, 2015 Music Background: Local working musician

I use several Fulltone pedals. They are made in the USA, built like tanks, and have excellent tone. You don't have to spend$300-$400 to get a great sounding pedal. I play a Guild Starfire thru a Mesa 5:50 Express, 2x12 cab with V30's. Other pedals i use are Fulltone Fat Boost, Mxr Carbon Copy. I put the 70's fuzz pedal in my chain and jammed on some Hendrix and Page. It is a great fuzz effect but it is kinda smooth. Great sustain. I was able to add a touch of fuzz using the fuzz and volume dials. The mid sweep will give you brighter or deeper tone depending on where you like it. Very versatile, got a great sound out of it. You can't go wrong for the low price (compared to boutique pedals). I highly recommend this product.

I like it better than the '69

By Aaron S. from Spokane, WA on February 1, 2015 Music Background: hobbyist, home recording, praise & worship

I used to have the '69 fuzz by Fulltone, and while it had awesome tone, it seemed to lack output volume, was hard to get to cut through the mix, and had temperature issues like most germanium fuzzes. The '70 seems to solve all these problems for me. I get the same awesome fuzz face tones but with plenty of volume and even more fuzz than the 69! The mids knob is the real deal, it really helps the pedal jump out more. Also, no temperature issues with the silicon transistors. One other nice feature is that the '70 is not reverse polarity like the other Fulltone fuzz pedals, so i don't have to worry about frying the pedal with the wrong power adapter. The 69 is a warmer, woolier fuzz, while the 70 seems to be sharper and edgier in its attack. Both great fuzzes, but the 70 seems to be the better fuzz face pedal for my tastes.

Fulltone 70 BC Fuzz

By Pepe Latoga from United States on April 13, 2012 Music Background: Band Guitarist

The best Pedal I have played with my Marshall Amp. I played Santana's Black Magic Woman and Oye Como Va in perfect Guitar Solo and very satisfied with sound quality.I can recommend this to other guitarist.

Too Much Bass

By Jay from Star Id. on March 3, 2021

Yes I messed with the bias control. Running an American made strat through an 81 JMP with greenbacks. It turns your guitar into a bass guitar. Way too much much bass. A waste of my time coming from a company that supposedly knows how to make guitar pedals. Hard to believe they could get this off, maybe mine was a lemon but I think not. Build quality 5 Stars.
