Fender '65 Twin Reverb 2x12-inch 85-watt Tube Combo Amp Reviews

85W 2-channel All-tube 2x12" Guitar Combo Amplifier - Black

The '65 Twin Reverb is a meticulous reissue of a true American classic. Whether your guitar has humbucking or single-coil pickups, this iconic 85-watt, all-tube combo amp serves up definitive clean tone that's perfect for rock, country, blues, jazz, fusion, and more. And it takes pedals splendidly. The Fender Twin is devastatingly loud. Spanking clean to around "8" on its volume dial, it can go toe-to-toe with any drummer onstage, but it speaks with authority at any volume — beautifully chimey, glassy, and full-throated. Sonically, the Fender Twin Reverb is based on their classic 1965 Blackface circuitry, and it delivers the legendary sound you've heard on countless hit records.

Twin reverb

By Harold Taylor from Tyler TX on February 9, 2024 Music Background: I have been playing for 60 years.

I absolutely love it.

Outstanding

By Abel Brown from Dumfries, VA on December 27, 2022

This is what a fender amp is all about. I was a bit apprehensive given price over "regular" twin reverb but definitely has that classic clean fender sound. Everything you play sounds awesome. Residentially, can only get to about volume level 2 or 3, lots of power here. If have the budget, def worth it, imo.

The Amp

By Christopher Kelly from Morgantown, WV on November 9, 2022

There isn't anything I could say about a twin reverb that a twin reverb hasn't already said about itself. Iykyk.

Linds as always took care of me and I got it next day with no hassle.

Also don't be surprised when it's upside down in the box it's supposed to come like that for it's protection lol

Outstanding amp… Fender standard…can't go wrong with this amp!

Worth it

By Ryan on April 13, 2022 Music Background: Guitar

Started with a tone master Twin - tried to like it but wasn't feeling it - then exchanged for a Princeton... which worked for a few hours but died shortly thereafter with a bad tube. A supply chain tube shortage required sending the amp all the way back to Sweetwater for replacement, and my thoughts were 1) the Princeton was breaking up too early... as do my Blues Deville 2-12 and Blues Junior, and I just wanted something clean with a less bright EQ profile to pedal into. And 2) they had the Twin in stock.

So glad I upgraded. Yes it's heavy as a house (buy the caster set) and yes over 4 on the volume knob it will blow the doors down. But the sound is full and responsive, and the volume know is linear-ish and can be set reasonably low.

Went through 3 amps to get to the place I should have started - with the blue chip top of the line. While this is definitely too much for an apartment setting, if you have some space and the neighbors aren't home, this amp is a pleasure. It takes humbucker driven pedals just as easily as clean, singing strat tones played gently. Reverb tank is wonderful as well.

Just a great amp

By Mike from Iowa City, IA on August 27, 2021 Music Background: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Semi-pro for 58 years

I never write reviews, but I have to chime in about this amp. I have had mine for 3 years now. I also have had real 65 blackface twins back in the day (yeah, onw with JBL's - now that was a heavy amp!), as well as a Marshall Plexi and a Vox AC-30. Nothing is as good as this amp; it just gets it right. Yeah, its heavy, and I am not a spring chicken - I use a hand truck to move it around. No big deal. It's loud, but with the right power tubes it sounds good at a reasonable volume (i use JAN Philips 6L6WGB tubes), no pedals are needed.
I play strats, tele, les paul, jazzmaster - all I really need is my strat. I used to gig more often than now, but I still get out there. Often just me with a pedal board and looper.
I own a princeton reverb, deluxe reverb (both reissues): I love Fender clean tones. For the reissues, I always relplace the output transformer (current ones Fender uses are crap), replace the Jensens with Webers, and get some NOS tubes. The result: as good as the original amps, in my opinion. Not as serviceable with the printed circuit board, but that classic sound is there, and the components are otehrwise new. You do not need to make the improvements I did on these amps, but I can hear the difference. These are all excellent amps, but the Twin is the most versatile and best-sounding.
I have been playing for over 50 years, many kinds of music. The Twin is the best amp you can get - it can do it all, and do it well. Nothing even comes close.

Love this amp

Awesome Tone

By Marc from Texas on September 20, 2020 Music Background: Lifelong hobbyist

I've been playing guitar off and on for 30 years. Decided to upgrade my amp from a Fender Hot Rod 410 Deville, so I already have experience with an amp that is loud.

I plugged my Strat into the Twin and was floored by the warm tones. All pickup combinations sounded rich and open. It was like I was hearing the guitar with a completely new voice. I didn't put any pedals in front of the amp for 2 days because I was so mesmerized by the amps natural character. Good service and experience from Sweetwater. I'm sure they will be getting back into my wallet soon!

Workhorse

The original workhorse. Loud and clean. Takes pedals perfectly. This is one of the holy Trinity amps along with the dual rectifier and silver jubilee. It's impossible to be unsatisfied with a blackface twin.

55 Years Old And Still The Best In Sound

By Larry Boros from Mentor, Ohio on March 14, 2020 Music Background: Old Rocker...

Bought 65 Twin and 65 Jaguar in August 1965. Played in band called Revalleers at Ohio State for Fraternities and Sororities. Had a blast. Still have Twin and Jag and they are still the best. Twin's name is George and the Jaguar is Jane. Recently purchase a couple of Strats and a Fender acoustic. Really having a great time Also have my Mom's 1892 Steinway Model H. Does not get any better than that

Love this amp

By Nathan on December 4, 2019

I have several tube amps including an orange and vox, but without a doubt my new favorite and go to is my 65' twin reverb. I haven't had the amp long but I have fallen in love with how sweet it sounds, the headroom, and the spring reverb. I can't wait to get home from work to play my 60s tele through this amp. Worth every penny.

Loud clean and heavy with awesome tone

By Sweetwater Customer on May 1, 2019

Pretty amazing, brings all my guitars to life. Was going to get something cheaper, but decided to go for simple and all tube, not disappointed, it can do pretty much anything from acoustic to blues with authority, just sounds so good you don"t want to quit playing... haven"t tried metal yet, don"t have a good pedal for that, but it pretty much just amplifies whatever you throw at it... it"s much heavier that you think it is wouldn"t want to carry it around much. The cleans and blues tones though.... happy I didn"t put money in a lesser amp... the EQ and reverb are fantastic, it seems to just find what your looking for without messing with it forever... made me hate "modeling" amps I"ve had before, won"t miss the hours of tweaking to find a decent sound...

5 Years and Going Strong

By Collin MacDonald from Centrevile, VA on February 13, 2019

First, I purchase this specific twin reverb, model 65 tube, in a blond case, before I ever heard about Sweetwater. It was purchased on a trade in of a Fender Princeton Amp, at a local Music Store, that was one of the few Fender Dealers in Northern Virginia. From the day I took it home to now, not one single issue. Sure it hums, but that is the local electrical from house, I have since used a filter box with not issues now. I love the tones, especially when I play the "surf" tones of the mid-sixties. Reliable yes, no issues with tubes, warmup time is very short, and I do put in standby before I shut down for about 5 mins or so. I am thinking of purchasing the Super Reverb, and either trading this in, or selling it, but find it very hard to do, since I know what I have, and the unknown with the Super Reverb. However, I highly recommend this model amp, and most likely I will keep what I have....CHEERS.

I"m just getting back into playing guitar.read reviews on the Black Face Twin Reverb.didnt read a bad one at all.i play a Mexican made Telecaster and an American Telecaster.i run a MXR Dyna-comp pedal and an Ibanez Tube Screamer pedal.with these I get more sound without having to push the amp as hard.
The amp at any volume sounds great.actually the more volume you use the better the amp sounds.the reverb is warm and clean.
I"m not a great musician, but through this Twin Reverb I sound good.this amp exceeded my expectations
Sweet Water was great and also gives continuing support and advise on all my gear.

The Greatest

By Tom from AZ on October 8, 2018 Music Background: Guitar and bass player, live sound, studio recording and production

If you've done any research on this amp, you already know what you might to expect. Its clean, its loud, its blissful. The first time I plugged my tele into this, I knew this was "the one". Sound guys will fear it. The music you play will love it.

Pros: Its the most simple, versatile and pure sound amplifier you could ask for. I use a large pedalboard, and this thing does its job of amplifying that tone just the way I want it. Con? I have none, but I have some warnings: A) this thing is LOUD. I have rarely ever needed to put it at about halfway of its volume output at a gig. B) It is HEAVY (in a literal meaning). Loading this thing after a gig can be a feat in itself when you're already exhausted. I highly recommend using coasters. These are not reasons to dissuade you, these are warnings. Its not a little bedroom practice amplifier, it is a powerful piece of amplification equipment.

Like I said, if you've done any research than you already know what to expect. This is just another person telling you that you cant go wrong.

Wow, just Wow.

With the help of my Sales Engineer, Carson McLain I chose the Fender 1965 Twin Reverb issue, by the way, made in Corona, CA. I had a 70's Twin but sold it years ago. I had forgotten how amazing these amps are. I don't need it for all the power and volume, but for the amazing "rich and full sound" that it delivers at lower volumes. I have the full gamut of pedals and it takes them very well. Highly recommended!!

First one sent to me the vibrato channel did not work. Within two days they had a new one sent to me that works great... I will not pull punches it is loud I use it in a worship setting in a church and I have the volume set on two. I also use it for some outdoor festivals and whether it's on two or five it sounds full and clear.

You can't go wrong.

By John from Woodstock, IL on August 3, 2017 Music Background: Guitar teacher, semi-pro gigging and recording guitarist.

We're fortunate to live in an era with a huge selection of top-quality gear. Nonetheless, this amp remains a staple, over fifty years since it was first lauched. Sure, it will do that clean, vintage Fender amp sound - and admirably so - but with its ample headroom and powerful tone stack, it takes pedals like a dream. So with the right guitar and pedals, you can get pretty much any sound you want, and this amp will project your sound with the utmost clarity and fidelity, as well as the unmistakable warmth and touch-response that you only get with vaccum tubes (and let it be known that I am no tube snob - I have a digital amp that I also like very much, and I continue to be impressed with how far digital tech is advancing).

This amp basically takes anything you plug into it and amplifies it in the clearest, most ear-pleasing way imaginable. Sure, it can be a bit much for small gigs. While it's capable of low volumes - just turn it down - it doesn't really "wake up" and do its magic until I open the volume up to at least 3 1/2 or 4. At that point, it is admitedly quite loud, even if it does sound glorious. So if I'm booked to play in a small bar, I'm better off bringing my digital amp rather than hauling in the Twin and only getting to turn it up to 2 1/2, because at that point it's not really working its magic. But when I do get to turn it up to breathing level, holy cow. It always brings a smile to my face when I'm reminded of just how inspiring a truly great guitar sound can be.

There are a lot of great options out there, and by all means, take your time finding the right amp for you. But while you're searching, I recommend you give this cherished old classic a chance. Especially if you can borrow one for a gig - that's the only way you'll really know what I'm talking about here.

Bottom line, this amp is, has been, and always will be an exceptional investment for the gigging guitarist. As long as you can play well, you will sound like a pro if you play through this amp. Simple as that.

I have had many amps, currently I take the Fender twin, an Orange, a Peavey and a Genz Benz with me. I usually just end up using the Twin. I cannot believe how versatile it is, it sounds great with and without pedals. My Shenandoah still is my go to acoustic and smokey jazz amp. I love my twin, if you are serious put your money back but this amp, you won't be disappointed. There is a reason this amp is legendary.

Have been kicking around wanting to get this amp for quite awhile. I've been looking for that snappy, clean sound and it sounds even better in person. I bought a '59 Bassman RI looking for that warm, clean tone but this thing is now my new favorite amp in the fleet. If you're looking for that spank ala SRV, and an amp that works well with any pedals you put in front of it, then save yourself the trouble and just go ahead get yourself a '65 Twin now!

Aaaah. Finally.

These little amps are the best, I had one back in the early 70's and used it in all types of places from little to big, it can go from low to very loud with out a problem. A little on the heavy side, use a case with casters and it helps.Plus it goes well with my telecaster, and stratocaster, the tones are great.

I've owned a lot of vintage gear. This amp will break in very nicely. The tone is there. However, an amp has to played to get seasoned. The reverb, vibrato, and clean is superb.

Add a good tube screamer, and you're done. If tone is your thing, then this is your amp. it also looks impressive. I've heard people complain about the weight, but it's worth the trouble. 85 watts of pure tone = 85 lbs.

The 2 Jensen's have great full balance and sound super 3 dimensional
Bright switch gives you another option for shimmer or balanced highs
Reverb...wow
Tremolo.....wow
Sensitivity to pick attack...wow
Put a Boss Super OD , Klone Centaur, big Muff in front and you discover creamy smooth tonal bliss.

By Jeff McDonald from Santa Fe, NM (USA) on October 17, 2011 Music Background: Been playing since my grampa could set me on his lap to play his piano and xlyophone, so I reckon an experienced hobbyist.

My rating was posted as a 3 star, not the 5 that I originally rated the AMP. The amp and what you put on its output are two different areas. This AMP is still the CLEANEST American Tube Guitar Amplifier, in my opinion, ever made. And, as I said, the speakers or whatever you want to put on the output is outside the AMP. I use Eminence Texas Heat on all my mid-power amps as they fit my almost 60 year old rock and roll ears perfectly. The Jensen's are perfect for the lower power rigs that I use, depending on the mood I in. But this '65 Twin Reverb Amp is still the cleanest Mid-Level amp made

This is a wonderful amp. I bought a used model over a year ago, and I amp amazed at the tone this amp can provide. It accepts pedals extremely well, or you can go bare and have a crystal clear clean sound.

As a warning, this amp is very heavy. However, with a hand cart, castor wheels, or good ole' fashioned elbow grease, this amp will not disappoint.

This Amp lives up to its name it is a super clean and powerful amp I
have had two twins a cbs model from 1977 and a reissue 1965
Twin 1965 is a great to things of importance her take heed the amp chassis is very heavy therefore pull it if you get a used one the four nuts are welded to the chassis and they tend to come lose
Mine had that problem but fixed it by using nuts and new screws also only down side why they didnt put Casters on this baby I imagine
because original did have any in the year fender brought this 1964
I bet I am on the money the one I had I got used for 600.00
guy who had it didnt know what he had she is a sweet amp and strong those 4 6L6 dont just hang there for nothing I used to Play my Jazzmaster through oooooh what a sweet sound anothe good one 1965 DeLuxe Reverb its little sister compliment 2 6V6 very sweet 20 Watts I will write a review on that too Eddie Kujawa

This is a great amp. I bought a used model of this, and I have yet to be disappointed. Crisp and clean tone. The clarity and delicacy of this amp are to die for. However, don't buy if you're looking for high gain. Though, if used with the right pedals, one can get any sound they desire out of this.

The perfect amp

By Jim Churchill from Omaha, NE on September 6, 2009 Music Background: Musician for 40 years

If you want CLEAN this is the amp to have. The problem I find with most other amps is the gain volume control. Most amps have two channels, clean and crunch execpt they put a gain knob on the clean channel side???? Makes no sence to me...more gain...more distortion. When I want distortion I'll add my own and the amount I desire.
This amp is perfect for no distortion noise except natural tube distortion on higher volumes.
If you want clean....get this amp you won't be sorry.

By madmanhoser from Seattle, Washington on November 7, 2007 Music Background: semi-pro musician

I bought this amp after reading about some of the other amps out there in the price range and decided on the fender twin reverb. Several factors were involved in my purchase decision...price, transportability, reliablity, power, tone, sound, etc....the Fender twin was an amp I played thru when I first started plucking some strings and the feel, sound and power has stayed with me for 30 years.
I have mine plugged into a marshall 4x10 cabinet and the stack is as impressive in looks and sound as any other combination out there. Hooked up a flange and metal distortion stomp box between my Les Paul standard and the amp and I can hand out any metal desired! Awesome amp, awesome sound and power and GREAT customer service from the best music gear company out there. This amp and this company can do it all and it wont kill your wallet. Get the twin, its worth it and then some!

By Ben from Indiana on August 3, 2006 Music Background: Guitarist, minor sound engineering work

Well, you want the cleanest amp ever made, buy the '65 Twin Reverb. Such a beautiful sounding amplifier, I couldn't be happier with it. The only downside is it is very heavy and has no casters, but casters don't do anything to sound. The reverb unit is the original Fender reverb that produces a lovely full sound.

Great, obviously, but

By Sweetwater Customer from PA on April 5, 2016 Music Background: Post-Rock, Instrumental

We all know what awesome sounds this amp produces. However, you would think that with the royal brand name, decades of service, and loyalty to quality merchandise, QUALITY CONTROL would be at the top of their to-do list.

I bought this amp because the 68' Twin Reverb RI was a **** up and breaks when you take it off standby. I've heard of a lot issues with the reverb circuit in these amps, so I did a thorough initial amp test leading up to the great reverb test. This amp sounds amazing on both channels. Even playing through a Les Paul this amp is the best clean sound you can get. When I got to the reverb channel.... Microphonic sounds all up and down the control knob.

I called sweetwater tech, after getting past all the Apple Products Tech lines(???), I got in contact with a guy who told me Fender most likely put the reverb tank in backwards and to flip it 180 degrees. Backwards? Yeesh.

I called Fender Tech and right off the bat they told me "sometimes the tubes put in these amps are not up to par, and it's definitely the preamp tube that handles the reverb circuit". Understandable, tubes aren't perfect, and that defines the microphonic sound that I'm hearing. The tech hooked me up with the nearest licensed Fender service shop to have the tube swapped under warranty. Sweet.

An annoyance rather than a big deal, but with such an expensive piece of equipmonk, you'd think they would be thoroughly tested before sending them out to reduce service being needed right out of the box. Don't rush production :)

By Al Sagginario from Atlanta Georgia on November 3, 2015 Music Background: I've been a musician for > 57 years.

'65 TWIN REISSUE
First off, I'm an old (63 yrs.) prog rocker with a stage band background, so assess
my comments accordingly.
The sound is, well, Fender-esq, which translates to 2 main characteristics:
"Clear as a bell", and "blank canvass".
Clear as a bell:
If you're a fan of the classic Fender sound, you've come to the right place.
All of the Fenders I've owned in the past were of the hand wired variety, but
they sound the same. I've checked the schematic (yup, I'm that nerdy) and the
circuits are very similar, sans the boost and overdrive circuits, hence the 85
watts with headroom as opposed to 100 watts without. The power supply is also different. The"normal" channel is a thing of beauty. I just wish it had that gorgeous Fender reverb. With it, that channel is a jazzman's' dream.
Blank Canvass:
This is a tube amp so it does have character of its' own. It does not,
however get in the way of anything you might play through it, and with 85
watts, it's plenty loud. I love the speakers, but that's always a personal
thing. To me, they sound very close to the OEM speakers that were in past
Fenders.
Why a 4.5? The reverb had a runaway condition that Sweetwater very quickly
repaired, all the while staying in touch with me by phone and email. A 12AU7
was substituted for the existing reverb drive tube. The whole process took a
week, including shipping both ways. Sweetwater took good care of me. The only
other nit to pick is the aforementioned "normal channel" configuration.
Consideration:
When I was considering a new amp I asked a buddy of mine who owns a pro audio
company, if you saw 2 guys coming to your venue, one had a Twin and the other
had a stack (I won't name it, but use your imagination) which one would you be
looking forward to working with? I decided on the Fender.

Fender Twin Reverb.

By Scooter on June 19, 2015 Music Background: 46 years pro

Great amp - does all that it says it does. The clean is simply the best in the business, a one-of-kind sound. High marks in all categories except one: I wish the Twin had an Effects Loop, so I could take that wonderful Clean sound and color it with my effects pedals. I know I can still use pedals by running guitar directly into the pedalboard, and take the pedalboard OUT, into Channel One input on the Twin. But that's not ideal, because in order to change back to the pure Twin sound without pedals, I have to unplug the pedalboard and run the guitar directly into the amp. An amp this good should have maximum capabilities, which should include an Effects Loop. I was hoping that with the re-issue, Fender would've added the Loop. I really believe they missed an opportunity with the re-issue. So 1/2 point off my rating. Otherwise, the best clean amp anywhere

The sound is great

By Austin Winterberg from Fort Smith, AR USA on October 23, 2013 Music Background: Musician

When I first started playing I was playing on a simple solid state fender amp. I upgraded to this after seven years and could not be any happier. The sound is amazing and you can get what you need whether you are playing indoors or out. The only thing I didn't like is how awkward it was when I had to carry it. Other than that, it is an excellent purchase.

AMAZING AMP

By Evan Pete from Brockton, MA on March 1, 2023 Music Background: Guitar Player

This amp is amazing and it does pretty much everything you could ever need. PERFECT clean tone with a strat. Takes pedals amazingly well.

The only downfall with this amp is that it is not at all practical for home use. 85 watts is just too much output unless you are playing medium to large gigs. I wouldn't buy this if you are just planning to use it at home, you will never be able to get everything out of it without getting the cops called on you, and that's not an exaggeration.

That being said, if you are planning on gigging with this...this amp is just absolutely amazing. It's a perfect amp in my mind. Literally the only problem is the home use practicality.

Fender Twin Reverb

By William from North Carolina on July 6, 2012 Music Background: Closet musician for 30 years.

Great amp for this closet musician. Ampliphies all the noise that I can muster and then some. I bought this amp for the genuine tremolo effect. "Rumble" sounds like "Rumble". It comes with a foot switch that controls that. If you are looking for any over drive or distorition, you will not find it on this amp. This amp is super clean. Would be great in the studio for recording. For distorition I added a Fulltone 69 pedal, (a clone of the JMI Professional Mark II.) The gain can be controled with the volume on your guitar. Perfect combination if you ask me. I am happy I purchased this amp. It is clean and reliable. If you require effects, heck just add some great pedals. I highly reccomend the Fultone 69 for distortion and sustain. Keep it simple.

fender twin reverb 65 reissue

By robert levy from houston, texas, usa on February 28, 2011 Music Background: guitarist, keyboardist, studio musician, composer

well, i gave this amp a 4 not a 5,not because of the sound, because it sounds amazing, i love it. but because of the fact that only a month after having it it started to malfunction. decently loud crackling sounds started to occour after about an hour warming up, and it was definately somthing that would pick up in recording. i brought it to the best amp tech in houston and am waiting to get it back, but i am in the studio, supposed to be recording, and i am ampless. i am very displeased with the situation and was wondering if anyone has heard of this happening before? also i did not buy this from sweetwater, although i should of cause i have bought gear from you before and you guys are quite possibly the best damn company ive ever delt with, got it from f***ing guitar center, who has almost no product knowledge, and has been no help to me even though i bought a 200$ pro coverage on the amp. thanks, let me know.

65' Fender Twin Reverb - Still The One

By Tele150 from Florida on October 8, 2006

The 65" Twin Reissue is as good as it gets for an all tube amp. Sounds as good as it did in 65. Clean is super clean, reverb is in a league of its own. Still as heavy and still gets as hot as it did in the 60's. Will always be my favorite. No equal found yet.

65 twin overview

By Greg Mattox from Falmouth Kentucky on July 20, 2021 Music Background: Retired semiprofessional

Love my new twin. And Dan is a great salesman, calls and checks in..! Like his voice.! I only have a couple reservations on the amp. The reverb is so... ? Much,, I have it on 2, it almost seems like it's on 10 no matter where you set it.? If you do turn it up it it makes a harmonic feedback..I have a reverb pedal that I prefer. Not a fan of channel one,it's ok, but love channel 2, has that sound I wanted, and the vibrato.! I guess I just miss my old stage lead 112, loved the power and the overdrive..and yeah it's heavy. But hey overall thumbs up..!! Greg from the Goodtimers Band

Clean, but....

By Jeff McDonald from Santa Fe, NM, USA on September 8, 2011 Music Background: My grandfather was a musician so I have no memory of ever being musicless, so strong background but spent my life building Hou$e$.

Man, I gotta tell ya. This amp is such a clean burner it is creepy. I am currently building the AB763 circuit so I can have twin twin's in my 4amp "stereo" setup. I'm glad that Fender took the time to put out their new version of the '65 which, as us old farts know set the standard in clean.

However, the Jensen's in this mode tend tol break up in the lower frequency ranges. I was going to switch to my favorite speakers, Eminence Patriot Texas Heats, when I took this out of the box, but decided to give the Jensen's a hard ride and, alas, they failed me. However, I have my shop. so I can mod this amp. I think this is still the cleanest amp going, even with whatever new mods Fender has had to use due to the passage of time, but we all have our own taste and, for me, I gotta have my Texas Heats.

Will not take celestion Speakers.

By Damion Low from WICHITA, KS on April 14, 2018 Music Background: Experienced

No arguing these amps have a great clean sound. With dirt pedals they can be a little or a lot fizzy. My complaint is you can not do a speaker replacement with ease. These amps are being made without any thought that the customer might want to do a speaker replacement to tighten up the overdrive sound. Has the nauseating eight bolts for Jensen's that do not line up with the most famous speaker manufacturing out there (Celestion). When an amp manufacturer never considers a customer in regards to to a simple modification like a speaker change, they are clueless to to the basic customer needs. Once again Fender disappoints. This is a simple fix in the manufacturing process that Fender refuse to do.

Would Not Recommend To A Friend

By Mike from Chicago on January 6, 2023 Music Background: I play jazz and microtonal music

Now that I've had this amp for over two years, I feel that I can give it a proper review. The first year was total or "tonal" bliss! Each and every time I played through the amp my ears got every penny's worth of money I spent. Then a few months later the reverb started to go out sporadically. I change tubes often and have plenty of reserve tubes so I quickly ruled that out and took it to a local Fender technician. He fixed a bad solder joint and I got my amp back after waiting a few weeks. Shortly after this though I noticed I was getting lots of white noise in the reverb channel and had to take it back to the technician who then took three months but said he couldn't fix the issue. I researched if anyone else had this issue and found a YouTube channel called "Psionic Audio". The channel shows a technician fixing this issue on a Deluxe Reverb Reissue but he says the issue was the same on the Twin Reverb Reissues. I guess the problem is in the circuit board traces getting too close to each other. I sent a link to my amp technician. And he used this information to repair the amp to make it better but I have the amp back and I hear a less noticeable but still present white noise. I should go on to say that this when there is nothing plugged into the amp and the volume is down. I hoped I was buying the holy grail of tone but I feel like I spent s lot of money only to have an amp with issues that I can't record with.

THE LAST FENDER PRODUCT I’LL EVER BUY

By Steve Blalock on July 26, 2018

Fender is far from the company it used to be. Fender service used to be stellar but now you can"t trust them anymore. The output of my Twin Reverb was seriously below specs. So I had the amp, including tubes checked by a Fender certified repair shop and the original tubes were found to be within specs. The repair shop told me that, nevertheless, Fender actually suggested replacing the original tubes with specific tubes that were different from the kind they installed at the factory. And the replacement tubes that Fender suggested indeed brought the output up to specs. But Fender claimed tubes aren"t covered by their warranty. However this isn"t a warranty issue, it"s an unfair and deceptive trade practices issue. Fender appears to have installed inferior or wrong tubes at the factory, and now Fender expects me to pay $200 to fix their error. As the result I"ll never buy anything with the Fender brand on it again because I just can"t trust them anymore.

Fender Bender Bummer

By Mr. Fatco from Pa on April 14, 2018 Music Background: 20 years on the electric twang stick.

I bought this amp thinking it would be a quality fender product. From what I read on forums and different sites, the amp was made in the USA and a great amp. I bought a demo unit... I was told it would be like new with everything included. I received the amp and opened it to find there was no slip cover and the footswitch was all scratched up. I figured no big deal and plugged it in and started to play. I loved what I was hearing for the first hour then it started popping and cracking (most likely a bad tube ). I called Sweetwater and they said send it back and they would send me a brand new one for demo price. I got the new one plugged it in and it sounded great for a whole day then developed a horrible chassis rattle when you would hit certain notes. This drove me nuts so they said send it back and they will send another. I got the 3rd amp and played it and it seeemed fine for 2 or 3 days then the reverb got weak and less pronounced (probably another bad tube). Then the horrible chassis rattle appeared on this amp and got worse with the more I played. I figured 3 strikes and your out, I sent it back and told them I just want a refund. I then found out all fender amps are made in Mexico and the only USA built amps come from the custom shop. So bottom line if you are considering this amp I would buy vintage or another brand all together. I ordered a Milkman Sideman 50, a real made in USA handwired amp. Hope this helps somebody.

4th Bad Fender

By Ray Blanks from Wallingford, CT on March 22, 2018 Music Background: Pro Guitarist

You will see that I wrote a previous review raving about this amplifier. However, it started rattling like a tambourine. This happened with two other Fender amps I purchased. A third one had a short and I sent that back as well. I have lost faith in fender and feel that they have become a marketing company and no longer a builder a great products.

I just ordered a Marshall for 410 head and 1936V cabinet in hopes that the British still build good amplifiers. If not, I will go the boutique route like many of my friends have.
