Taylor 652ce Builder's Edition 12-string Acoustic-electric Guitar - Wild Honey Burst Reviews

12-string Acoustic-electric Guitar with Torrefied Sitka Spruce Top, Figured Big Leaf Maple Back and Sides, Mahogany Neck, and Ebony Fingerboard - Wild Honey Burst

The Taylor 652ce is a superbly balanced 12-string that blends the comfort and playability of an electric guitar and organic acoustic tone in a gorgeous acoustic-electric instrument. Rocking a compact Grand Concert body with electric guitar-inspired contours, a 12th-fret neck join, and a shorter 24-7/8-inch scale length, the Taylor 652ce’s easy playability will appeal to electric guitarists. The first 12-string to join Taylor’s Builder’s Edition, this amazing guitar also features a reverse-strung setup like an electric 12-string. This emphasizes the fundamental note for a full, meaty 12-string voice. The tonewood marriage of maple body and torrefied Sitka spruce top, together with a hard rock maple neck, also channel the electric guitar experience with a bold, clear sonic signature.

Exquisite Sound

By Sweetwater Customer from Richland, WA on January 3, 2023

This is my first 12 string. It sounds great, stays in tune, and opens up all sorts of possibilities for new and old songs. Delivered in great shape by Sweetwater. The neck is substantially heavy so I find it easier to play seated instead of standing as compared to other guitars. The wood and finish are delightful.

My favorite guitar of all time

By Sweetwater Customer on December 23, 2022

I absolutely love this guitar. It plays beautifully and is much easier to play than my Martin. Worth every penny!!

Sweet!

This is my second Taylor guitar and I love both my 6 string 912ce and my new 652ce 12 string! The tone is beautiful, both are easy to fret, they stay in tune very well, and are a pleasure to play. They sound great without amplification but I like having the option. The Concert Grand body is very comfortable for me. I'm sold on the resonance that the V-class bracing brings to these guitars. The finish and look of both guitars let's you know you're holding a quality instrument.
Sweetwater's service was great! I waited several months for the 12 string to become available and they held my order in the cart all that time! They called to make sure I was comfortable with my purchase, sent detailed information and photos, and shipped in a timely manner.

Worth the long wait! I can see now why they can't keep them in stock.

I bought this model because of the reverse string setup. I love having the low octaves on top which makes it play more like a true six string. No need for those up strums to keep the base presence. It is very comfortable to play. It's just straight up a quality instrument. It is a bit heavy and slightly slippery with the silent satin finish but that is literally the only negative thing I can find. If you dread trying to keep a twelve string in tune, no worries here. It stays in tune. I waited for several months for it to come in but it was well worth it! Huge thanks to Colton S. Who kept me updated often during my wait. On the fense about this guitar? Go for it.

Taylor 652 12 String, "OMG"

By Joe O from Jersey Shore on January 4, 2021

This is my 4th 12 string and after playing it, I can die a happy man. I was skeptical when I ordered it. I have a Martin D35-12 which sounds beautiful but not as easy to play as a Taylor 12 string. I also have a Taylor 355ce that sounds nice and very easy to play. The Taylor 652 is much smaller and has maple sides and back with Taylor V bracing's a voice that demands to be heard. It is very easy on fingers and hands and with the much smaller body it is super comfortable. I have to thank Colton from Sweetwater not for talking me into this purchase but for explaining the theory of how the tone woods and the bracing would produce the sound that this guitar is capable of. This guitar is a gem, louder than my dreadnought and jumbo. Clearer and sound perfect. Worth the wait. I highly recommend the Taylor 652 Builder's Edition 12 String.

Thank you Colton - Sweetwater

BTW: My 4th 12 string is an old Penco not worth mentioning.

Taylor 652ce is a 12 string dream

By Michael from Park City on August 1, 2020 Music Background: varied, wild and crazy

I have a Taylor 914ce six sting, a Gibson Songwriter six string and several other six string guitars, so that I have a really great "library" of acoustic sounds I was worried about buying this guitar as I wasn't sure about a 12 string in terms of playability and sound that would make it different enough from what I have to justify yet another guitar. Wow! This thing rings loud like a drunk in a bar, but is soft and sweet as a chorus of angels. It is SOO easy to play that if you have basic good chording technique you are off to the races with this thing. The chimes this guitar knocks out are amazing, it is heavenly. I couldn't be happier with this instrument and can see my music only getting better because of it.

If you want a 12 string, the Taylor 652 ce is the only choice. What a joy to play!

Everything A Taylor Should Be!

By Alane Watkins from Idaho on June 12, 2020 Music Background: Beargrass band, 20 years!

Wow, this guitar has a lot of sound, powerful but SO easy to play. The action is great, the feel and balance is superb. The beveled edges make it extremely comfortable. Why didn't anyone think of this YEARS ago? Sweet, crisp notes, just a delight, can't wait to use it in our gigs. Thanks Sweetwater, this was an amazing buying experience.
