Classic Neck, Sound, Service and Quality

By Geoff from East Coast on April 2, 2023

I received my Gibson 1961 ES-335 Reissue and got a good play in today. I had a GREAT time! :-) I wanted the 1961 ES-335 model as it has the authentic '61 Skinny C neck. The neck is really comfortable, plays great and the pickups have that classic sound (dirty or clean). The quality of the build met my high expectations of Gibson. It is a beautiful guitar. I would definitely recommend this model if you prefer the Skinny C neck. It is not a chunky as the modern 335 model.

Also, a BIG THANK YOU once again to Matthew, my Sweetwater Sales Engineer, for the fantastic support. Thank you!

Worth every cent

By Sweetwater Customer on March 30, 2023

Just bought one and haven't play another guitar in my 25 guitar collection in over a month. This thing is absolutely the most beautiful guitar I've ever played in my 50 years as a musician. Nice slimmer neck is so comfortable to play. The tone is to die for. It's expensive but worth every cent !!

Gibson ES-335 61 custom reissue VOS Vintage Burst

By Robert from Southern Iowa on September 3, 2021 Music Background: pickin for 55 years, blues 70's rock and country

Yes I purchased this guitar. Excellent workmanship Gibson custom shop, during a recent stop at the Sweetwater Store I played both the 61 and 64 reissue, I prefer the thin C speed neck of the 61, it just fits me and feels right in my hand. I played a real 61 with this same neck profile in the early seventies and this guitar felt like home as soon as I picked it up. Right out of the box it played like butter, the string height is just right for me. The fret ends are nicely finished and smooth, bending strings is easy with note clarity, the intonation was perfect. I love the pickups and tone of this guitar in all three pickup positions. I'm 68 years young and I play blues, 70's rock, and country, I play "Sweetie" (yes, that's her name) through a vintage 76 Fender Deluxe amp with vintage tubes and this guitar can cover all my bases. I can not find one defect of fit or finish on this guitar. If you are into distorted heavy metal it may not be the guitar for you, but if you are on a search for tone this guitar may be what you're looking for, it was for me.

1961 Gibson ES-355 Reissue

By Bob Breslauer from Fort Lauderdale, FL on December 12, 2021 Music Background: Guitarist, Drummer

Forty years ago my van was stolen. Inside the van I had two guitars. A Martin D-28 and a '61 sunburst Gibson 335. The van was found but the guitars disappeared. I always missed that ES-335 but didn't have the money to replace it.

When Gibson announced this 335 reissue in Vintage Burst I was skeptical but ordered one from my Sweetwater sales engineer. The guitar arrived in a bulky generic case with a hastily installed Gibson badge riveted on crooked. Not a good sign. But when I opened the case I immediately saw my original 335 but in immaculate condition. My biggest concern was would the neck be like my old one. It is exactly the same slim C shape and is the fastest and most playable neck I have ever played. The two Humbucking pickups are period correct and almost identical to vintage PAF's in tone quality. The guitar is a work of art, just like the original. Gibson got it right (except for the case.)
