Godin 5th Avenue Uptown T-Armond - Havana Burst Reviews

Hollowbody Archtop Electric Guitar with Cherry Top, Back, and Sides, Maple Neck, Richlite Fingerboard, and 2 T-Armond Pickups - Havana Burst

The Godin 5th Avenue Uptown T-Armond blends old-school archtop style with modern performance features to meet today's players where they live. A pair of TV Jones T-Armond "Dyna" pickups gives this beautiful archtop that coveted bygone-era bite and twang. You'll be greeted with rich tone and powerful projection the moment you pick up this ultra-light archtop; its Canadian wild cherry top, back, and sides are full of soul and stage appeal. Plugged in, the 5th Avenue Uptown T-Armond exhibits inspiring depth, clarity, and kick, with more than a touch of that vintage sparkle and chime. At the bridge position, a genuine Bigsby trem equips the 5th Avenue Uptown T-Armond for haunting chordal and melodic textures to deep scoops and wild dives — all without wrecking your tuning. If you're looking for a full-featured archtop with style and performance to match, be sure to check out the Godin 5th Avenue Uptown T-Armond from Sweetwater.

Beautiful guitar.

Great looking, playing and sounding guitar. It is the most versatile electric guitar that I have ever owned.

Brilliant guitar!

I am in love! I mostly play fingerstyle jazz guitar, and this guitar sounds absolutely beautiful in that context. I did have a local luthier fit an ebony bridge with String Saver saddles. The bridge swap made the guitar feel more alive and improved its acoustic sound and volume. I have two other archtops that cost me thousands more than the Godin. But, since I got this Godin, they have been hanging out in their cases.

After a bridge swap it became my number one!

I really love my guitar. That wasn't initially the case. After reading many reviews of this particular model I decided to take to my local shop and have a new bridge fitted. Oh my… I am so glad that I did! Ditching the roller saddle has given me more volume and sustain. It also go rid of the annoying clicking sound of the rollers sliding back and forth when bending strings. My luthier ended up fitting an ebony Gretsch bridge base with a ResoMax saddle with string saver saddles. Now it stays in tune better as well. The pickups on this guitar sound phenomenal. And they are so very versatile. With a bridge swap I can highly recommend this guitar.

Great guitar for the money!

This guitar get the most play time out of all of my instruments. The guitar is solidly built. And, it plays and sounds fantastic. I only wish it came with a case. And, I am really not a fan of the roller bridge that came on it. I had a local shop fit an ebony bridge with a Tune-O-Matic.

Love it!

Godin makes a great guitar at a great price! This guitar is now my daily driver. I only wish that it came with a case.

My new favorite guitar.

By Tad Coleman from USA on March 15, 2023 Music Background: Gigging/Studio Musician

Let me start off by saying that I personally can't stand roller bridges. I have no idea why anybody would want one on their guitar. They are always very noisy. And, they make a clicking sound as they shift slightly when bending strings. I own three other guitars with Bigsbys. They all have Tune-O-Matic bridges. They all work quietly. And, they all stay in tune. So, suffice to say, the first thing that I did upon receiving this guitar was to replace the roller bridge with a Tune-O-Matic bridge with String Saver saddles. The new bridge works much better. Now, with that out of the way, this is a fantastic guitar. I have gigged with it three times a week for two months now. Like other reviewers have stated, the TV Jones pickups are very versatile. I have played rock, blues and jazz gigs with this guitar. It has yet to let me down. I can't wait to take it into the studio next month. This is a guitar that is worth checking out. Just take my advice and ditch the stupid roller bridge!

Brilliant Guitar!

By Conway Dawson from Chicago, Illinois on February 24, 2023 Music Background: Touring/Studio Musician

This is a very capable guitar. I wanted something that would be able to cover a very wide range of musical styles. This guitar is a perfect partner in the studio as well as on the stage. I have recorded everything from surf guitar, to hard rock and jazz with this guitar. I ended up swapping out the roller bridge for a Tune-O-Matic bridge. It is just a personal preference that improves the tone of the guitar. I have never had any tuning issues with a Tun-O-Matic bridge and a Bigsby. If you are looking for a quality North American made guitar that can handle anything that you throw at it, then you should definitely check these out.

Very versatile!

I am very happy with my purchase. The guitar is very well built. It is very comfortable to play. And, it has fantastic tone. The T-Armomd pickups are super versatile. You can go from a great fingerstyle jazz tone all the way to high gain distorted tones. It also has a pleasing enough acoustic tone to play without an amp late at night and not wake your housemates. Highly recommended.

Amazing Guitar

By Rich Holoch from Orinda, CA on February 3, 2023 Music Background: switchingyard.art

I'm a huge Gretsch fan (everything they make) and Fender Thinline Tele fan. Last August I wanted to augment my more electric guitar sound with a more acoustic sound that had a decent pickup. I bought a Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin with P90 and couldn't stop playing it.

Based on that experience - the best guitar experience I've ever had - I figured the Uptown T Armond could replace 2 Gretsches I had.

I was right - and sold the guitars that the first Godin guitar pretty much took over my playing

These pickups and Bigsby are a perfect compliment to my P90 Version.

My favorite guitars now are Godin. I did keep my Gretsch 12 string and short bass and lap steel.

Thanks AJ and Sweetwater for your Gear Exchange and usual top of the mark selection and service.

Love the Weight, Feel and Utility

By CN BYrd from New Mexico on August 18, 2023 Music Background: 30 years as a classically trained singer songwriter.

It took a lot of research before I bought this guitar, and I am very happy I did. I have been looking for a full hollow body electric at a reasonable price for years. The light weight and balance makes it really a joy to play. It has great practice ability without having to plug in. The trem bar is tight and smooth and I love the look along with the vintage rockabilly tones. I haven't gigged with it yet, but it will be my go-to electric when the occasion arises. It has me putting up two of my other electrics for sale.
