Tube Character, in a 500 Series Pre!
The Model 583S mk2 offers the same 992EG style tube preamp featured in LaChapell Audio's original Model 583S 500 Series module, but in a slimmed-down 1-bay footprint. At the same time, LaChapell cut no corners in its design, turning to the same Jensen JT-115k input transformer, Burr-Brown and THAT balanced line drivers, and a CineMag CMOQ nickel alloy output transformer that defined the original. If you're looking for a way to add extra warmth and amazing character to your 500 series rack, you won't find anything else quite like the Model 583S mk2.
LaChapell Audio 583S mk2 500 Series Tube Preamp at a Glance:- Superior design + premium components = great sound
- Plays nice with your other 500 Series gear
When LaChapell Audio set out to design a great-sounding tube 500 Series mic pre, they looked to their acclaimed 992EG for inspiration. They gave the 583s mk2 its big sibling's overall input stage topology, including feedback loop design, Jensen JT-115k microphone input transformer, input impedance, capacitance, and more. On the output side, they spec'd a CineMag CMOQ nickel alloy transformer and premium Burr-Brown and THAT Corporation balanced line drivers, for an ultra clean output stage. The results, well, they speak for themselves. We're confident you'll agree.
Plays nice with your other 500 Series gearThe LaChapell 583s mk2 was designed to coexist amicably with the other 500 series gear in your rack. It has an enclosed chassis, which helps direct cooling and prevents interference. In operation, fully variable potentiometers give you individual control over input and output gain stages, for the flexibility to explore the unit's broad sonic palette. There are also three toggle switches for 48V phantom power, a 20dB input pad, and polarity reverse, in addition to an auto-switching transformerless hi-Z input for instruments.
